* RecycledScript: This movie's plot shares MANY similarities with ''WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaidIIReturnToTheSea'', released just 6 months before this film. The general consensus is that ''Scamp's Adventure'' is a much better sequel.

* ContestedSequel: This movie has superb animation, catchy songs, and yes [[Film/ABronxTale Chazz Palminteri]]. It was also helped by having a good deal of [[ComicStrip/{{Scamp}} source material]] to draw from. That being said, it does have its flaws. This includes introducing a major character as the best friend/close sibling/arch enemy of a major character in the original movie, who was apparently ''always'' ''there'' [[RememberTheNewGuy ...it's just nobody ever bothered to mention they existed in any way]], Lady being DemotedToExtra, [[BaseBreakingCharacter Scamp himself for not being seen as very likable to some]], [[VocalDissonance while having a voice]] [[QuestionableCasting that doesn't seem suitable for a puppy]], [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter his siblings not getting a whole lot of screentime]], or whether people like the original comics more than the movie.

* LauncherOfAThousandShips: Scamp and Angel are quite popular in the CrossoverShip {{Fanvid}} community and have a tendency to get shipped with many other Disney (and non-Disney) animal characters.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Scamp's three sisters. In the film, they basically serve to be Scamp's polar opposites who turn up their noses at his rapscallion ways, when they had honest inklings of possibly interesting personalities: while Colette and Annette both fit in the preppy GirlyGirl category who never understood Scamp's love of filth and desire for life beyond the security of their backyard fence, Danielle had more of a TomboyWithAGirlyStreak attitude that could've made her a nice pre-adventure companion for Scamp as the two would've had more potential to be on more understanding terms with each other due to their similarities in personality and energy levels.
