I'll admit it. I wrote this when I was still new to TV Tropes and let the editing privileges get a little carried away. I'm disappointed in myself that it took me so long to remove this.

** While Kilgrave himself is far too monstrous as an adult to be UnintentionallySympathetic, despite what the show tries to say, his parents were not good and mostly innocent people who simply made some well-intentioned mistakes that unfortunately were extremely but unknowingly destructive. So, their son has a terminal brain disease and they want to cure that disease, like any good parent. But apparently, their best solution was to perform extremely painful experimental treatments without telling him why or giving him painkillers and talking in a cold, unloving voice when speaking to him. Yes, it's made clear that their son has [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse devolved beyond that torment]]. Yes, they had good intentions. But neither of those give ''them'' a free pass in their utter lack of scientific ethics and basic awareness.

** In the second episode of Season 3, it's revealed that Jessica has broken up with Oscar, the main love interest from the previous season, all because she couldn't let him inside her life. In other words she has had absolutely zero CharacterDevelopment since the show began, which for some makes it a little hard to be invested in her since no matter what good things happen to her, she's always going to be an antisocial alcoholic. Some fans have said that they're unsure whether to be frustrated or impressed that Jessica, in spite of her traumatic experiences, is somehow able to come across as {{Wangsty}}.

* MisaimedFandom: There are a surprisingly large number of Jessica/Kilgrave shippers out there, despite the fact that Kilgrave is physically incapable of engaging in a consensual relationship.
