** Melisandre. She [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere abandons Stannis]] not long after learning that his hired swords have deserted. * UnintentionallySympathetic: The showrunners clearly intended Stannis' downfall to be a major LaserGuidedKarma with Brienne arriving to avenge Renly, yet the manner in which the scenes are built-up (the ShockingSwerve in characterization, the removal of many of the dramatic elements from the books) make it feel deeply unearned. Brienne abandoning her watch of Sansa for her selfish duty to Renly (who she calls ''the rightful King'' who ''did'' usurp Stannis, being behind him in the line of succession) and then attacking Stannis after he's the LastManStanding makes the latter be more sympathetic nonetheless.

** Okay, Night's Watch, you have totally betrayed and mutinied against your Lord Commander without ''any'' of the justifications your book counterparts had. You also did this after he and nearly 2000 wildlings and a Giant ''entered'' Castle Black. You have small numbers, Jon Snow still has loyalists and you don't even the Wall to protect yourself against them now. Good luck.

This is more Fridge Logic than Authors Saving Throw and still debatable. No competent army is so disorganizes as to fall apart when the leader is killed. The Unsullied under Grey Worm\'s leadership lost to the Harpy in that cornball attact in Season 5, Episode 4. So Grey Worm is not more super competent either.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: The incompetence of the Unsullied in the last episode stuck out like a sore thumb. This episode showed that Grey Worm was still recovered and deeply regret not being able to save his queen thus explain away the Unsullied's uncharacteristic disorganization and incompetence as lacking the strong leadership of Grey Worm. This fit their characterization perfectly as the Unsullied are a BadassArmy, not a OneManArmy. Without a strong leader to hold them together and give out order, each Unsullied lacked the initiatives to fight on his own.
