* FairForItsDay: As eyebrow-raising as the BuryYourGays funeral of the title is, the film was incredibly ahead of its time in presenting a gay couple as a completely accepted part of a large group of otherwise straight friends, whose relationship is just as valid as any of the others, and the death of one being a tragedy which is in no way played for laughs.

* BreakawayPopHit: Wet Wet Wet's cover of "Love Is All Around" was a ''huge'' success in the UK, staying at the top of the charts for 15 weeks. Marti Pellow, the lead singer, later joked that "We did everyone's head in the summer of 1994". Screenwriter Richard Curtis poked fun at the song's success in ''Film/LoveActually'' with the subplot about Billy Mack re-recording it as "''Christmas'' Is All Around"
