* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The renditions of showtunes from various musicals in this show definitely counts, with "Mein Herr", "Glory" and "Bye Bye Life" (performed by Creator/LinManuelMiranda, no less) as stand-outs.

* MisBlamed: Some detractors of the series have taken to accusing Nicole Fosse of using her position as co-executive producer to force the series to cast a negative light on her father as some sort of revenge for his cheating on her mother. Of course, the series has seven writers and sixteen other producers, so the idea that one of them has that much power strains credibility.

* Tearjerker: It's a series about theatre, so some drama is to be expected.
** In "Providence", Bobby and Nicole have a genuine bonding moment when he asks her to help him work out some choreography. And then later she visits the set of "All That Jazz" and watches as this personal moment between her and her father is re-enacted by a pair of actors. The sense of betrayal is palpable.

* BrokenBase: The series' decision to examine Creator/BobFosse's legacy through a post-[=#MeToo=] lens has naturally caused some controversy, particularly after "Glory", in which he is shown harassing a dancer who refuses his advances. Detractors accuse the show of unfairly raising accusations about Fosse years after he is no longer able to defend himself and after most of his contemporaries have passed on. Supporters argue that Fosse's infidelities and ControlFreak tendencies were well known, and that even if he never actually physically forced himself on the women, the fact that most of them were in subordinate positions to him still makes those affairs inappropriate and thus worthy of criticism.
