* BadassDecay: This story doesn't treat the Daleks a heck of a lot better than "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS17E1DestinyOfTheDaleks Destiny of the Daleks]]" did. While their weaker status is actually explained and justified in this story, and they do at least turn on Davros when it becomes clear that he isn't going to co-operate with them, it's still hard to take them seriously as a threat when they retreat in a panic after several of them get blown up in the initial assault, then need Lytton and his men to actually take over the space station. Also not helping is a bunch of [=1980s=] Earth soldiers easily shooting out a Dalek's eyestalk and then destroying it by shoving it out of a window, and both the Doctor and Davros slaughtering them en masse with the Movellan virus.

* FridgeBrilliance: In "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS17E1DestinyOfTheDaleks Destiny of the Daleks]]", the Doctor says that the Dalek-Movellan war will remain deadlocked until one side does something irrational enough that the other side cannot see it coming. Now, the Movellans have the upper hand, having attacked their metal-clad enemies with a virus. Looks like the Movellans realised that the Doctor was right.

* SpecialEffectFailure: Most of the Dalek lasers are not at all accurate for where the gun is pointing (something that "Destiny of the Daleks" of all serials got right long before) and many of the deaths are overracted.

* {{Narm}}: The super-deadly virus with which the Movellans all but wiped out the Daleks causes them to spurt white fluid out of their cases. At best it looks like they're coughing up shaving foam, and at worst, well, let's not even go there.

* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The {{Gorn}}-tastic makeup on the [[BodyHorror human being transformed into a Dalek while begging for death]] is an interesting case - it's quite obviously done on the cheap (its cybernetic parts are represented by sequin-mesh), but its cheapness makes it a lot more organic and viscerally revolting to look at than the properly-made latex prosthetics used on later human Daleks were. It was almost certainly made at least partially out of real meat, and a small part of it throbbed pathetically to a heartbeat - again, had it been the whole mask throbbing, it would have come across as less sickly and fundamentally wrong. As it is, the scene is pure, [[WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids childhood-destroying]] {{Squick}}.
