* AccidentalAesop: Sometimes, you must swallow your pride and walk away from a no-win situation. While Candie was a bloody killer who deserved to be shot by Schultz, Schultz [[SenselessSacrifice accomplished nothing but getting himself killed]], ruining Broomhilda's chances at freedom and damning Django to a horrendous fate as a slave for a mining company.

** In Candie's "Obedience Skull" scene, he cites an actual [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrenology 19th-century science, phrenology]], which continued to be respectable and popular until the early-mid 20th century (when its massive internal contradictions finally became apparent and it was derided as a 'pseudoscience'). Before and after the US Civil War, phrenology really was used to justify the enslavement and contempt of Africans in the USA. Ironically, the first studies discrediting phrenology came out in the 1840s, which means that even for the standards of their own time slaveowners were just WickedPretentious who supported a pseudoscience.
