** One of the earliest examples of this trope he's received was on his video about Anime/ZankyouNoTerror which was one of the most popular shows of the Summer 2014 season garnering a large fanbase at the time. While he did like the first three episodes he ultimately ended up disliking the show and his video on it was one of the first negative anime critiques he ever did. Fans of the show didn't take to well to it, though on the flip side many of the show's detractors (especially those who are fans of That Anime Snob) didn't get what he saw in the first three episodes of the show.

Usually when watching random shows in bulk he's guaranteed to come across ones that are popular that he doesn't like or ends up dropping which sometimes leads to comments in defense of those shows.

** His video discussing how you can judge an anime based on the first episode generally comes across this way however. In it he uses hindsight to justify how good some shows first episodes can while others aren't and that by extension you can tell the quality of the show. However many of the shows he complains out, excluding LightNovel/SwordArtOnline and LightNovel/TheAsteriskWar, are ones he dropped after one episode, meaning he's watched only a tiny percent of it. This means he quite often ends up ignoring shows that improve as they go on.

** His anime videos as a whole qualify as initially he started with a series called "Useless Anime Knowledge" that provided quick factual information about studios and shows while analytical diatribes were something he did every now and then. Nowadays Digi is more known for doing analytical diatribes rather than quick factual videos.

** While not as extreme as the example with Manga/Erased, he did get some flack for the video he did on LightNovel/ReZero with Endless Jess. It didn't help that for months many of his viewers kept asking him about his opinion on the show with the hopes that he'd either talk about it with glittering praise or tear it to shreds. In addition he already generated this reaction when he talked about the first episode for the Weebcast and many felt he was being unfair on it. ** Among his fans, there is some contention over his Asterisk War series. Unlike SAO, the criticism of the videos isn't because of his negative opinion on the series (since Asterisk War is generally considered a trashy SnarkBait show, and doesn't seem to have a lot of people defending it), but because he wrote 12 videos' worth of content about it. A lot of people enjoy the videos and have no problem with how long Digi's spent on it, given that they feel that he has insightful and interesting things to say and covers a wide variety of subjects, but another group feels that he made his point pretty quickly and that ragging on it for so long got old.

** Digi himself notes he got a lot of this due to his SAO videos, where he utterly roasts the anime for long periods of time. Averted in the case of Asterisk War, which, despite statistics saying it's extremely popular, people mostly just consider to be low-hanging fruit at worst. Seemingly played straight in the case of ERASED if the like bar on the video is any indication; it's much less of a SnarkBait show than SAO and was very hyped until its conclusion, which many people found underwhelming (Digi's opinion was that it was dull from the beginning). On twitter, he explained that this was part of why he was reluctant to comment on a lot of popular shows because his opinions on them are often negative. He's since resolved to have an opinion on them regardless.

** The fact that he drops a lot of anime especially because a lot of the shows he drops are very popular or well-received. Some don't mind this because it allows him to focus on other anime and talk about shows that aren't getting as much attention alongside of the fact that most of the shows he drops just aren't very good anyway. Others however feel as if he doesn't give the shows he watches a fair chance especially if he only watches a few episodes before dropping a show or if he drops a show that gets better later. Though this has been slightly alleviated as he has admitted that just because he drops a show that doesn't mean he'll never return to it and as of recently has picked up shows he previously dropped such as LightNovel/ChilvalryOfTheFailedKnight and actually enjoyed it.
* HePannedItNowHeSucks: CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming: His hour and a half long thesis on why Manga/KOn is his favorite anime of all time. Its very relieving to see him spend a long period of time talking about a show that he likes and its nice to hear about his personal attachment towards the show and characters.
* GrowingTheBeard: A lot of his viewers feel as if his video on Manga/HunterXHunter was where he really began showing of his true colors as an anime analyst.

Digi himself notes he got a lot of this due to his SAO videos, where he utterly roasts the anime for long periods of time. He's since resolved to have an opinion on them regardless.regardless.
** While he never reviewed the show, a lot of people often mention the fact that he dropped Novel/FromTheNewWorld in the first four episodes because he disliked it. This especially caused a stir among his viewers because that is often considered to be one of the best shows that Creator/A1Pictures has produced. Many fans of that show often feel as if he didn't give it a fair enough chance, or only disliked it because he didn't like how it looks when he has openly stated he hated other aspects of the show aside from visuals.
* MagnumOpus: His video on "Why Good Anime is Hard to Make". A very well researched video on the state of the anime industry in Japan that addresses a lot of problems that anime viewers have had with anime as of recently. Its even helped changed the buying habits and viewpoint of the industry for a lot of his viewers.

** His video on Manga/Erased has gotten an extraordinarily mixed reception, even moreso than his work on SAO. Some people consider his reasoning valid regardless if they like the show or not, others think that it's a poorly made video with Digi pretentiously complaining about minute things that wouldn't bother most people regardless of whether they like ERASED or find it overrated.

** His reviewing style, and especially his videos on Sword Art Online and Asterisk War, tend to make him polarizing. Some think he's an interesting critic, providing detailed and valid analysis over stuff a lot of people wouldn't think much about, and helpful in justifying people's dislike or admiration for a show. Others consider him overly nitpicky and so unabashedly biased to the point where they can't take him seriously.
