* RomanticPlotTumor: Geoffrey "Geoff" Anderson and Supergirl have no chemistry whatsoever, and three issues later Linda would quit her job, move and never see or miss Geoff again. Still Linda says she can feel a closeness I've never felt towards any other man (including her main love interests Dick Malverne and Brainiac 5, apparently), and readers are supposed to regard them as mind-bonded lovers.

* AccidentalInnuendo: Supergirl is losing her mind when she feels “something good rushing inside her (mind)”. She describes it as “something warm and comforting”. It's Geoff, who is trying to contact her mentally. Supergirl thinks “Yes! That's it! You're getting there! You're getting through!” as she writhes. And Geoff thinks in turn that “This is hard work, but I'm making it!” How did this go past the Comics Code?
* HarsherInHindsight:
** This story states that Kara had an internal death wish. It was written by Marv Wolfman, who fourteen years later wrote ''Comicbook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths #7''.
** Linda punches a wall and people wonders if a plane just crashed into the building thirty years before the 9/11.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Nightflame looked cool and menacing -a tall, cloaked, green-clad, sword-wielding sorceress warrior-, her powers were awesome and she was a good {{Foil}} to Supergirl because she was the embodiment of Supergirl's dark inner side and her powers were magic-based. She could have become an excellent, recurring villain, but she never turned up again.
