* HollywoodHomely: Joanna is presented as the frumpy/dowdy alternative to Rebecca--brown hair, prim clothes--even though her nude scene makes it clear she's a very attractive woman herself.

* AudienceAlienatingEra: The film came out during Madonnna's HotterAndSexier period in the early 90s that ended with the release of ''Music/BedtimeStories''.

* TheUntwist: Given how blatantly obvious it was that Rebecca was the killer, no savvy viewer was surprised when the evidence started pointing to . . .Joanne. Of course, the evidence against her was too obvious as well (disliked Rebecca, was in love with the victim, also stood to inherit if he died), so it wasn't a shock when Rebecca turned out to be guilty after all.

* {{Narm}}: Too many scenes, but namely Rebecca acting all weepy over her lover's death. Whether due to Creator/{{Madonna}}'s acting or the poor writing is uncertain.

* TheUntwist: Given how blatantly obvious it was that Rebecca was the killer, no GenreSavvy viewer was surprised when the evidence started pointing to . . .Joanne. Of course, the evidence against her was too obvious as well (disliked Rebecca, was in love with the victim, also stood to inherit if he died), so it wasn't a shock when Rebecca turned out to be guilty after all.
