** More so from another Nguyen Film, that came before this; Julie & Jack (which plays on the Television, during the Motel Scene). The Story of Julie & Jack is about a couple dating by Virtual Reality. When they reveal that it is Virtual Reality, Jack points to some Birds (played by real ones), and notes that they're fake. This line can be considered amusing, by those who have seen Birdemic, considering how fake looking the birds are, there.

** A minor one, but extremely bizarre: Nathalie's cell phone was apparently on vibrate, but Nguyen apparently decided to give in a ringtone in ADR. Said ringtone is ''a ringing mechanical bicycle bell''. Yeah, it's technically possible in 2008, but is that really the best Nguyen could come up with?
** The film was basically edited in camera. Which means, he shot a scene, then changed angle, and shot again from the new angle. He didn't shoot the entire scene from various angles then edit them. One result is there's no room tone taken, so the background noise keeps changing. In the case of the boardroom applauding scene, instead of having them clapping contiguously, it seems like they start and stop clapping with each cut.

* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: The actor playing Dr. Jones delivers his lines with total conviction. The actor said in an interview that this was the strangest script he'd read, but he still felt it important to give a serious performance.

* AwesomeMusic: [[http://www.smartsound.com/royalty-free-music/Ethereal+Dreams/Mirage/ "Mirage"]], which plays during the "Treehugger" scene, is quite beautiful.

** Rod doesn't bother ''cleaning'' the fish when plopping it in a bucket of water to cook. No wonder the kids are {{squicked}}.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Nathalie's Mom, played by Patsy van Ettinger, is frequently praised for being so sincere in her role and [[DotingParent for being a loving, supportive mother.]] Even WebVideo/{{JonTron}} considers her to be the film's saving grace.
** Dr. Jones and the Treehugger are both standouts despite only appearing in one scene each.

* RetroactiveRecognition: Danny Webber, who played "A day without sex is a day wasted." Rick voices [[Franchise/EvilDead Ash Williams]] in ''Videogame/{{Poker Night 2}}''. He's also a talented music composer who's done the score for several episodes of ''Series/{{Workaholics}}''.

* SoBadItsGood: It makes ''Film/TheDayAfterTomorrow'' look like a [[{{Anvilicious}} subtle warning about]], [[YouFailBiologyForever and a realistic portrayal of]] the effects of global warming. The entire cast, crew, writers and editors turn in performances that wouldn't just get them kicked out of any film school, but land them a restraining order as well. And it's glorious.

** Ramsey's guns, which he apparently kept in his van. He says that he used to be a Marine but he quit because he was tired of killing, which only ''sort of'' explains why he's always armed to the teeth.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Whitney Moore (Nathalie) is usually cited as the best part of the film, both because she's clearly finding it as ridiculous as the audience and because she's gorgeous. * HilariousInHindsight: The opening theme is stock music that gamers who played ''Hollywood Mogul'' would recognize is one of the available tunes for their fictional films.

** The boardroom scene is clearly the same scene repeated three or four times from different angles, making the padding even more apparent.

* TheyJustDidntCare: Allowing for NoBudget and improvised props, Nguyen still didn't exactly show that he was thorough with his direction.
** Many obviously botched lines were left in such as "part-times Eagles fan" and "you're a cats lover".
** Nguyen also completely ignored sound mixing or even taking a normal room tone, which is why the background would change during editing. For example, during the scene with Tom Hill, you could hear a brook babbling behind him when the shot was on him, but the sound of water would vanish when the camera was off him.
** The credits of this movie claim there was an editor, but there's not much evidence of one. The majority of scenes end on long, awkward silences where everyone stands around waiting for the director to call cut, flubbed lines are cut off in mid-sentence and spliced right into the retake, and wedged between two early scenes are a few frames of a car sitting in a parking lot, which either nobody noticed or bothered to trim out completely.
** Speaking of cars, there are quite a few people driving back ''towards'' the killer birds after the escape from the motel. It's almost like nobody told these drivers that they were in a movie...
** In fact, it seems the "editing" consisted of stopping filming and starting filming from another angle. In other words, there was no cutting or splicing (or video editing since the entire film was done on digital video.)
** You can see some of the forest fire bits vanish before the scene ends, or freeze completely.
** Whitney Moore, Nathalie's actress, obviously couldn't make herself take the movie seriously either. She's trying to hold back laughter in almost every scene she's in and giggles the whole time at the sheer stupidity. The audience is likely doing the same.

** There are many serious ecological concerns associated with global climate change, from abnormally short or long seasons to widespread flooding to powerful hurricanes to [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking more]] [[KnowYourVines poison ivy]]. However, "exploding mutant birds" is ''not'' one of them.

** James Nguyen obviously had no idea how big a deal being a Victoria's Secret cover model is - in terms of money or prestige. He makes it seem like just another model job.[[labelnote:Note]]To put it in perspective, a Victoria's Secret model being paid at the LOW end of the scale is still making ''several million dollars'' per year.[[/labelnote]]
