** Rory, another one of the first characters, hailing from pretty obscure puzzle game. Not helping that many old Halfbrick games, including ''Bears vs Art'', were removed from the stores at around the same time ''BRS'' was getting a soft-launch.

** Scientist, being the only playable {{Mook}} so far. Other mooks are part of the crowd cheering for racers and movesets of other characters - including scientists themselves. The fact that Barry has recieved "Fake Scientist" skin prior to their inclusion also added to the unexpectedness.

** Josie SuddenlySpeaking in the aformentioned event could be seen as this given that [[spoiler:she becomes capable of normal speech in the web series once she learns the truth behind her existence in Stage 13.]]

* BestLevelEver: Portal Mania maps are this for combining aspects of almost every available race track and having unique and awesome-looking aesthetics. Needless to say, this mode shines in comparison to other special races.
* FridgeBrilliance: One dialogue from "Colossatron's Menace" event has Barry asking Dan if there's going to be a continuation of ''DTM'' series. Why Barry of all people? Because this is a common question that fans of the series used to ask on Halfbrick YT channel's comment section, which happened to be read by Barry on his Video Blog, much to his annoyance.

** Barry's conversation with Dan about Stage 9 in "Colossatron's Menace" became this a year and seven months later when actual Stage 9 of Dan's animated series was finally released.
** Josie's inclusion in this game where she SuddenlySpeaking could be seen as this given [[spoiler:she gains the capability to speak normally in the web series once she learn the truth of her existance in stage 13.]]
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: At the end of the "Colossatron's Menace" event, [[spoiler: Dan defeats the Colossatron while only using the armor to aid him, something General Moustache couldn't achieve with the huge military army he has. The awesomeness scale may wary if this Colossatron is a replica from ''Jetpack Joyride'' but it was still quite a feat.]]

** UFO Apocalypse changes backgrounds for it's stages (which are all reused from Linear maps), making it feel like an actual apocalypse. [[FlyingSaucer Flying saucers]] everywhere, fire, dark colored sky and Bounce Tunnels map having all the water dried out are all included.
** Flappy Bomb is a CartoonBomb with wings... and a SkullForAHead. It goes after the player in last place and makes unsettling noises, that become more and more creepy as its about to explode.

* ThatOneLevel: Frozen Danger (and to lesser extent, Permafrost) can be this due to the amount of moving buzzsaws thrown around the map.
* ThatOneSidequest: Out of all special races, Full Boost is considered to be the worst. Aside from being the least creative mode, it is very hard to catch up to your opponents, and getting 1st place can be extremely rare.

** Mari. Even if you are aware that, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GajUKV7l41Q&t yes, Fruit Ninja has a lore and characters]], you would probably expect Sensei or Katsuro (Both were added to the roaster later on) to be first additions, but she ended up being one of the first six racers added in.
