The Fraternity Overseeing the Advancement of Falsehoods, aka the FOAF, is an elite society of the world's greatest rumormongers. While most secret agencies work to prevent moral panic, the Fraternity works to ensure that [[UrbanLegends urban legends]] and misconceptions continue to all throughout the world. No one is quite sure what their exact reason for this is, but their influence in undeniable. And with a small population of reality-bending rumormongers at their disposal, the apocrypha they spread doesn't always remain within the realm of fiction.

Eden Ezekiel-Eybenshutz has been in the Fraternity since birth, and would love nothing more than to live a normal, quiet life. Unfortunately, she was born with a rare gift known as the Mendax Maximus, the power to spread rumors so infectious that they actually come true. Her abilities make her an invaluable asset to the Fraternity, and she is stuck working for them as a "Friend of a Friend" for the foreseeable future.

Aided by the eccentric pseudo-scientist [[MadScientist Nadia Vogli]], who gained access to 100% of her brainpower after an overdose on back alley nootropics, [[MyNaymeIs Le-a Fibb]], the Fraternity archivist of apocryphal texts who yearns for the equally fictional good old days, the Fraternity's newest recruit, Rafael Lagarto, who escaped his duties as heir to his grandfather's Floridian swampland resort empire to live in the sewers with his alligator friends, and countless other fascinating fraudsters, Eden must ensure that everybody's got a friend of a friend of a friend looking out for them.
