* {{Cyborg}}: The Copper Golem origin, held by Pearl in her first and third lives and Sparrow in his second. They are more likely to be struck by lightning in thunderstorms but are immune to its effects, do not need food or oxygen to survive, perpetually have the Resistance status buff, can detect unwaxed copper blocks, emerald ore and blocks, and diamond ore and blocks, obtain a piece of redstone dust every time they press a button, can convert between redstone components easily, and can craft various items and tools using copper instead of iron (attributed to {{transmutation}} from copper into other metals in the mod). However, their health can only be regenerated by consuming copper ingots, they can oxidize over time (though removable with an axe and can be delayed by honeycomb waxing) and become slower the more they oxidize, only have 6 hearts [[{{Lilliputians}} from being a block tall]], and sink like a rock in water and are damaged from being submerged.

* SlidingScaleOfSillinessVersusSeriousness: It depends on the perspective: most of the characters tend to be on the silly side and don't take things very seriously, but Owen's perspective as Sparrow is particularly lore-heavy and he's one of the few characters who have a pre-series backstory from the get-go. Seapeekay's perspective balances out, where scenes with facecam are silly and those without are serious/lore-heavy.

* TechnicalPacifist: The Fungal Mage origin is intended to be this, as they are considered to have "betrayed the trust of Gaia" if they kill any entities, ''including hostile mobs'', and will lose Fungus Mana (which they are highly dependent on) if they do so. Despite this, it is possible to kill entities without being credited for the kill in-game, e.g. by dropping lava on them or using redstone traps, and Scott explicitly averts it by bringing around a mycelium block with him so he can kill mobs, regain Fungus Mana by standing on it, and kill again.

* EveryoneIsASuper: The New Life SMP is centred on the [[MassiveRaceSelection Origins Mod for Fabric]] and variations or derivatives thereof, where each player is randomly assigned an origin out of a pool of dozens (over a hundred for New Life). As a result, a vast majority, if not all of the cast consists of super-powered individuals, referred to as "hybrids" in this series, while the Human characters' status are often used as plot points.

* DemonicPossession: The Sculk origin held by Sparrow in his third life has this as one of their abilities, being able to tap into another entity's brain to see the world from their perspective. As Sparrow experiments, the possession occurs when another entity breathes in the person's Sculk particles, and ends when the entity either sneezes out the particles or is immersed in water. Alternatively, those who hold the origin can ''disconnect the entity's synapses'' as the entity loses health and ''dies''.
* DimensionalTraveler: The Rift Bender origin, held by Seapeekay in his third life. They can cross over into the rift, a mirror space of the world, and no longer be able to interact with the regular world and vice versa (at least, in theory). This can allow them to pull entities into the rift with themself, teleport upon exiting the rift (including through walls), push another individual into the dimension they're not in, freeze entities inside the rift, and throw entities ''within'' the rift out to deal more damage. However, they are stronger ''inside'' the rift and weaker outside, which affects their health, armour, damage, exhaustion[[note]]Hunger drains faster in the rift[[/note]], healing, movement speed, and gameplay in general.

%%More tropes to be added soon!

The ''New Life SMP'' is a private, modded ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' survival multiplayer server run by Scott Smajor. Its 19 members also include many returning members of the LetsPlay/EmpiresSMP, as well as [=GoodTimesWithScar=], LetsPlay/{{InTheLittleWood}}, [=OwengeJuice=], Seapeekay, and LetsPlay/StacyPlays. It runs on a custom modpack of 245 mods centred on [[MassiveRaceSelection the Origins mod]] and the Create mod, and is the successor series of the ''LetsPlay/AfterlifeSMP''.

When starting a new game, each player is randomly assigned an origin out of a pool of over a hundred, including many from its predecessor series. However, players only have six lives, and after each death, their origin is re-rolled, giving them a brand new set of strengths and weaknesses. Each origin has its own benefits, drawbacks, and quirks attached, and players are encouraged to lean into the storytelling opportunities their origin provides.

''New Life SMP'' was first announced on May 20th, 2023 and started on May 27th of the same year. It is currently ongoing.

Despite its name and creator overlap between the series, the ''New Life SMP'' is not a season of the ''LetsPlay/LifeSMP'', due to its drastically different premise and modded nature.

'''Note:''' Unless otherwise specified, all tropes pertain to the '''characters''', not the '''content creators''' that play them.

!!Tropes related to the New Life SMP include:
* AdventurerArchaeologist: The Archaeologist origin, held by Pix in his first life, seems to {{downplay|edTrope}} this. For one, they are able to extract loot from gravel (e.g. arrows, bones, clay, and food items), automatically have Fortune II without needing to enchant, and wearing a full set of leather armour gives a set bonus of increased movement speed, luck, and armour strength (equivalent to diamond), all of which are helpful perks while adventuring in the mines. However, they have decreased mining speed in generated structures -- being "troubled by the idea of destroying structures of ancient times", which leans closer to attitudes in modern archaeology than the traditional trope -- and take double damage from arthropod mobs.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Players of the Slime origin can dye themselves any colour they choose, and if they choose to split a second Slime off of themselves when they are dyed, they can create ''dyed'' Slime mobs.
* AmnesiacHero: According to Sausage, he [[RandomlyGifted developed powers]] after arriving in the lands of the New Life server, and cannot recall anything that happened before that point, presumably other than knowing of his friends. It's possible that this applies to all the other server-members as well, excluding Sparrow.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: After Scott kills a large number of infinitely-spawning pigs on an island near Seapeekay's house in a livestream for server maintenance purposes while out-of-character, Seapeekay decides to sue him for causing mass panic (to himself), 125 counts of murder, "[s]howing no emotion towards the animals that i cared deeply about", and having a Scottish accent.
-->'''Seapeekay:''' Not sure [if] I can sue him for the last one, but I thought while we're gonna go to court, might as well throw it in.
* ArtisticLicenseOrnithology: The Penguin origin is described to have fur, even though birds have feathers and not fur.
* TheBeastmaster: The Animal Whisperer origin. They can cause animals to breed without requiring food like normal players do, and can attract nearby animals. It is not currently held by any of the server-members.
* BlindSeer: The Sculk origin held by Sparrow in his third life is unable to see any player or mob unless they create sound in-game; if they stay silent, they are effectively invisible to anyone who holds the origin. On the flip side, they have better night vision than the average player and have a plethora of other powers which allow them to traverse the Ancient City with ease.
* BlobMonster: The Slime origin, held by Gem in her third life. To them, all blocks are bouncy like slime blocks, they are translucent, they don't take any fall damage, and they can make small slimes to defend them at the cost of Health. Additionally, [[AmazingTechnicolorPopulation they can dye themselves different colours]], and when they are at 2 hearts or less, their attacks deal almost no damage but a lot of knockback.
* CastingAShadow: The Dark Fairy origin can shoot a short-distance "Shadow Bolt" which deals 3 hearts of damage to the target. They also have night vision and are stronger at night.
* CelestialBody: The Star origin, held by Pearl in her second life. They can launch themselves into the air and slowly glide down onto the ground, are luminescent and emit yellow particles, and can jump higher and negate fall damage at night. However, they have 2 fewer hearts than normal. They are also about a block tall in the day, and are nearly ''three'' blocks tall at night.
* ChestMonster: The Mimic origin, held by Oli in his first life. They can disguise themselves as a chest, where anyone who opens the disguise gets a surprise explosion, and any nearby entities are inflicted with some kind of status effect. They're also [[{{Lilliputians}} half as tall as the average person]] and can move slightly faster than oneļ¼Ž
* {{Cliffhanger}}: In most instances where a character dies, their episode ends on a cliffhanger without showing what new origin they respawn as, only showing the character's reaction to gaining their new origin.
* ColourCodedForYourConvenience: Each player has six lives in total, and each life is indicated with a health bar of different colours: default red, orange, yellow, green, blue/cyan, and purple. Some players may choose to have an additional texture pack making the hearts the same colour, usually default red, throughout all their lives, thus averting this.
* CourtroomEpisode: In his 3rd episode, Seapeekay decides Scott is the server villain for killing the pigs which spawn on an island near his house, and sues him for causing mass panic (to himself), 125 counts of murder, "[s]howing no emotion towards the animals that i cared deeply about", and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking having a Scottish accent]]. [[spoiler:By the end of the episode, he adds teleporting him into an Ancient City and indirectly causing his first death to the list of things to sue Scott for.]] In turn, Scott has decided to counter-sue him because the pig culling was done to make sure the server runs properly in the first place.
* CuteMachines: The Copper Golem, which lost the 2021 Minecraft Live mob vote to the allay, has been added into the game through the series' mod-pack. They have been subjected to much CutenessProximity by the players. By extension, the Copper Golem origin applies as well, as they are [[FunSize only one block tall]] and are often regarded as adorable because of their small size.
* CutenessProximity: Many of the modded animals are subjected to this reaction from the players, like the retextured vanilla mob variants, the Mooshrooms, the ferrets, the otters, and the red pandas.
* CyberneticsEatYourSoul: ZigZaggingTrope depending on perspective.
** In Owen's 5th episode, after creating a machine to de-oxidize his Copper Golem creations, Sparrow initially plans to visit some friends before his robotic programming overrides and tells him to go mining for resources. In the following episode, he's forced to explore the Deep Dark [[FightingFromTheInside in spite of his own hesitation and fear]] because of another systems override informing him that [[AndIMustScream the "objective" of exploration is "not optional"]]. [[spoiler:He's realized this by the end of the episode, given [[DrivenToSuicide what happens]].]]
** Averted with all other characters who have held the Copper Golem origin so far (read: Pearl), who are [[RidiculouslyHumanRobots able to maintain a human mentality and consciousness throughout]].
* DeathActivatedSuperpower: When a Human character dies, they're rerolled with a new origin and gain the resultant powers and abilities of said origin. Of course, this can also be inverted with a super-powered character dying and coming back as a Human.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Doubles as a FreezeFrameBonus; as players explain how the series' origins mechanisms work at the start of episodes, there's also usually a sequence of the player flipping through the list of origins, which often includes ones held by one of the server members later in the series.
** The Beach Crab origin held in Seapeekay's second life first appears in Sausage's 1st episode.
** The Fluffy Friend origin held in Katherine's second life first appears in Stacy's 1st episode.
** The Penguin origin held in Jimmy's third life first appears in Sausage and Stacy's 1st episodes.
** The Star origin held in Pearl's second life first appears in Stacy's 1st episode.
* ElementalRivalry: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Joey and Shelby's respective first lives give them powers over darkness and light, respectively, and exchange much banter in their first meeting.
* FreezeFrameBonus: As players explain how the series' origins mechanisms work at the start of episodes, there's also usually a sequence of the player flipping through the list of origins. This may double as an EarlyBirdCameo for some origins in the mod-pack, which will eventually be held by one of the server members.
* FriendlyPlayfulDolphin: The Dolphinkin origin, held by Sausage in his fourth life, is explicitly described to be "playful" and can spring themselves forward while swimming using their tails. They fit the friendly part of the bill by their ability to grant the Dolphin's Grace effect to any entity for 30 seconds, allowing them to swim faster.
* FryingPanOfDoom: Skillets from the Farmer's Delight mod can be used as a weapon as well as cooking. They have 8 attack damage (the same as an unenchanted netherite sword) but only 0.9 attack speed (the same as an iron axe).
* GoodOldFisticuffs: The Beach Crab origin can deal much more damage when using their pincers as weapons, and [[EnforcedTrope using melee weapons actually reduces their attack strength by half]]. In beach biomes and its variants, their [[HomeFieldAdvantage home territory]], they can kill a zombie or a spider in about two hits with their bare fists.
* GratuitousJapanese:
** Owen's 1st episode as Sparrow opens with an anime-esque introductory segment on "hybrids" in Japanese, with English subtitles; its ending narration is also conducted in Japanese. The same applies for the rest of his episodes.
--->Fearsome monsters and strange animals... ruthless and unexplored lands... Within these hard environments, the people have found means to accelerate the mutations of their genes! Those who possess this ability are referred to as 'hybrids'!\\
[...]\\
And so, Sparrow's journey began. In order to explore, and to become a hybrid!
** Martyn decides to join in on the fun in his 2nd episode by making his own Japanese anime-style monologue[=/=]BilingualDialogue during his first meeting with Sparrow, for the sole purpose of trolling Owen into breaking character or the fourth wall.
* HomeFieldAdvantage: To some extent; the Beach Crab origin, held by Seapeekay in his second life, considers beach biomes and all their variants (e.g. stony beaches and snowy beaches) home and have greater strength when there, but receive weakness in combat if they are outside these biomes for more than 15 minutes.
* AnIcePerson: The Chillager origin, held by Martyn in his first life. They can briefly slow down other entities and turn themselves into a HumanPopsicle temporarily to negate all damage. They can also spawn a small ice platform to drop onto enemies, which delivers the Freezing effect on the target and can take up to 7 hearts of damage, and are immune to the freezing effects of powdered snow. However, they have a slower attack speed (due to a loss in "fine motor skills") and receive the Blindness effect around blue [[TechnicolorFire soul fire]]. %%They are also presumably weak to heat and fire, but until we have access to the full list of powers, this isn't for certain.
* ImmuneToFire: Most of the Nether-based origins, such as the Ghast and Strider, have this perk.
* InASingleBound: The Hare origin, held by fWhip in his second life and Sausage in his third, features this as their main ability, being able to build up more momentum to jump and move around. It's {{downplayed|Trope}} in that the jump boost is only by about a block higher than the average player, and lacks the {{Required Secondary Power|s}} of negating or even ''reducing'' fall damage.
* InnocentInnuendo: Sausage is ''frequently'' the cause of this; [[https://www.youtube.com/shorts/RDnTULU8T7Q among other examples]], he complains about "getting wet" whenever he's around fWhip -- because fWhip keeps placing water buckets at his feet when he can't touch water without taking damage as a Ghast mage. Jimmy is very annoyed at all this.
* {{Intangibility}}: The Sculk origin held by Sparrow in his third life has this as an ability, but only in Sculk. It allows them to see outlines of caves and structures underground.
* IntelligentPrimate: The Monkey origin, held by Jimmy in his second life, is stated to be an {{inver|tedTrope}}sion by the mod-pack. While they have many physical perks, they are described to have a "Monke Brain", meaning they cannot use bows, crossbows, or shields. They also can't swim. %%They can throw vines to move around in the trees, have superior climbing abilities and can lunge (both at the cost of stamina), are faster on foot, and take 80% less velocity-based damage (e.g. fall damage), which are mainly ''physical'' perks. However, the inverted part kicks in as
* {{Invisibility}}: Multiple origins have this as an ability, like the Bad Guy, Dark Fairy, and Fungal Mage origins. The Sculk origin held by Sparrow in his third life has [[DownplayedTrope a variation]] where they can turn into relatively inconspicuous Sculk particles and {{fl|ight}}y around.
* KillItWithWater: In contrast to their ImmuneToFire abilities, most Nether-based origins are hydroallergenic and can't come in contact with water or rain without taking huge amounts of damage. This also applies to the Copper Golem origin as a [[{{Cyborg}} robot]], though they are unharmed in rain due to their protective casings; [[spoiler:Sparrow {{exploit|edTrope}}s this to get out of being a Copper Golem when the programming starts to take over his free will.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: The Bad Guy origin, held by Jimmy in his first life, is described to be "just generally a bad person", and their powers reflect it: they can [[StuffBlowingUp throw bombs into the air]], heal themselves when at low health "in a rage of fire" and briefly become stronger, temporarily [[{{Invisibility}} disappear into mist]], are ImmuneToFire, but can [[RealMenEatMeat only eat meat]] (and modded meats don't count at that). However, whether the player holding the origin is ''actually'' a bad person [[ZigZaggingTrope may vary]], and Jimmy himself counts as a NominalVillain at worst.
* LavaSurfing: The Strider origin, held by Stacy in her first life, can walk on lava source blocks, much like their mob counterpart, while walking more slowly and shivering on land. %%Other characteristics they share with their source mob are being ImmuneToFire, taking damage in water, naturally spawning in the Nether dimension, being rideable by other players, and being able to eat warped fungus to gain a small speed boost (but not to refill hunger).
* {{Lilliputians}}:
** There are multiple origins which result in a decrease in player height, including the Monkey and Penguin at about a block and a half tall, the Copper Golem which is only about a block tall, and the Dark Fairy which is only half a block tall. The Star origin [[ZigZaggingTrope zig-zags]] this, being about a block tall in the day and growing to about three blocks tall at night.
** One of the modded potions causes the Shrinking effect, which can cause any afflicted entity to become smaller. [[MythologyGag For obvious reasons]], Jimmy has often been subjected to trolling via this potion.
* LivingToys: Several origins use this motif. The Living Doll origin held by Scott in his third life and the currently unused Toy origin.
* MagicVersusScience: {{Discussed|Trope}} in Scott's 4th episode; Sparrow plans to use science to gain hybrid-based powers as an alternative to dying to get them, and is initially insistent on rejecting magic, but Scott simply calls science "[[SufficientlyAnalyzedMagic magic we understand]]" and doesn't think the two concepts are mutually exclusive.
* MoonRabbit: Referenced with the Hare origin's "Moon Leap" ability, which allows them to attain a greater jump height while sneaking/crouching.
* {{Muggles}}:
** Humans are pretty much default Minecraft players with neither the special abilities nor the drawbacks of any origin. The server-members who have been regular Humans throughout the series include Katherine, [[FoxFolk Seapeekay]], and Sparrow in their respective first lives, and Scar in his second life.
** {{Downplayed|Trope}} with the Fluffy Friend origin, held by Katherine in her second life. Players who hold this origin have minimal special abilities; their movement and healing speeds are simply restricted by their proximity to sheep.
* MundaneUtility: The Slime origin can split off smaller Slime mobs from themselves as defense. That's cool and all, but when the split-off Slimes are ''killed'', they drop a name-tag of the player's name, which can theoretically result in an ''infinite'', renewable source of name-tags.
* MythologyGag:
** In his 1st episode, when Martyn first makes a knife, he comments, "The LetsPlay/{{rat|sSMP}} in me would be proud."
** Joel chooses to settle in a valley near a birch forest and Spawn because he finds two donkeys there, saying they're a good sign, a clear nod to the ''X-Life'' server.
** When Jimmy finds an amethyst geode in his 1st episode, he collects some of the crystals "for [[LetsPlay/LifeSMP old times']] sake", and mimes the "aha" sound a few times. He later refers to himself as a Bad Boy, even though he's supposed to be of the Bad Guy origin. In a livestream a few days after the series release date, Scott and Martyn also devolve back into making a {{hurricane of|puns}} "bad guy" puns, much like the Bad Boys did in ''Limited Life''.
** A FreezeFrameBonus in Stacy's 1st episode reveals [[LetsPlay/EmpiresSMP the Toy origin]] exists in the mod-pack, complete with the description saying, "[[Franchise/ToyStory There's a snake in my boot!]]"
* NotQuiteFlight: Several of the origins have abilities ''adjacent to'' flight, but don't quite fit the bill:
** The Dark Fairy origin has Elytra wings by default, meaning they can glide from high places but can only propel themselves into the air with firework rockets.
** The Ghast origin can launch themselves high into the air and glide down without taking fall damage. This self-propelled jump can sometimes be achieved mid-fall, making it effectively a form of flight.
* NoodleIncident: As Shelby explores the world in her 1st episode, trying to find a place to settle down, she finds a sign next to fWhip's house which states Scott is banned from his island, and wonders out loud about why that's the case.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. As confirmed in her 2nd episode, Shelby knows an otter called "Pearl" that can help her crack open clams and obtain pearls; when fWhip asks, Shelby has to clarify it's not "the Australian Pearl" (i.e. [=PearlescentMoon=] the creator-character).
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: The Ghast origin, held by Sausage in his first life, though he is a self-professed Ghast ''Mage''. They can shoot {{fireballs}}, launch themselves into the air and glide down without taking fall damage, and are ImmuneToFire. However, they [[KillItWithWater take damage when in contact with water]] and cannot wear heavy armour with more protective value than iron.
* OurFairiesAreDifferent:
** The Fairy origin, held by fWhip in his fourth life, who are said to be "born to help others". They can fly at the cost of being unable to wear a chestplate, leap into the air and glide, [[HealingFactor summon a lingering Regeneration effect around themself]] to heal both themself and other entities within a certain radius of them, break blocks in air as quickly as normal players do on land, and glow. However, they are unable to use fireworks for propulsion in flight, cannot wear heavy armour stronger than iron, and only have five hearts of health (or four if in cold biomes like oceans).
** The [[CastingAShadow Dark Fairy origin]], held by Joey in his first life, is described to be fairies who have "turned to the dark side". They have [[NotQuiteFlight Elytra wings]] and night vision, can temporarily turn invisible such that they cannot interact with the world and vice versa, and can shoot a short-distance "Shadow Bolt" which deals 3 hearts of damage to the target. However, they receive the Weakness and Slowness effects in cold biomes, take 15% more damage in the day, and cannot wear a chestplate because that inventory slot is already taken up by the Elytra wings. They are also [[{{Lilliputians}} half a block tall]].
* OurGryphonsAreDifferent: The Hippogryph origin, held by Joel in his first life. They are winged, can fly from pushing off the ground and pick up and carry entities, including mobs and players. However, they can only wear gold armour and receive the Weakness and Slowness effects when under a roof -- as in, if they spend [X] amount of time under a roof, they are inflicted with the effects for [X] amount of time (capping at 3 minutes) when outdoors ''as well as'' indoors.
* ThePhoenix: The Phoenix origin, held by Sausage in his second life; this is also symbolic in that all known players who held this origin did not have this as their first origin. They have two forms: in their Normal Form, they have more health, and can launch themselves into the air and fly with wings; in their Reborn Form, which they shrink into when they lose health, have little health and are only one block tall in height, but have Slow Falling and Jump Boost, and return to their Normal Form by Rejuvenation[[note]]or death, but that's not how the NLSMP works[[/note]]. They can Rejuvenate by standing directly under the Sun or when sneaking without moving; standing in the rain or water will slow down this process (unless they are sneaking). They also have HealingHands with their Radiant Call ability, fully healing every entity within a 12-block radius every two minutes; this can also speed up the Rejuvenation process. Additionally, they receive a speed boost when on land or in the air while under direct sunlight, can shoot fireballs, and are [[RequiredSecondaryPowers naturally]] ImmuneToFire. However, they can only eat gilded foods (golden carrots and apples), have decreased speed in water, take more fall and kinetic damage (the latter from flying into blocks), and the ground around them is set on fire when they die.
* PlantPerson: The Fungal Mage origin, held by Scott in his second life, has characteristics relating to this. They can channel Fungus Mana as energy for various abilities: they can summon clouds to hop on in mid-air; briefly become invulnerable (including to fall damage), {{invisib|ility}}le, and undetectable by pressure plates by entering "a veil of magic"; teleport short distances; heal themselves; and have immunity to fire, poison, and berry bush thorns. Additionally, they have non-Fungus Mana-related perks like glowing in the dark (i.e. having a vivid outline) at light level 0, being able to mine mushroom blocks without the Silk Touch enchantment, craft mushroom-related special items, ride mooshrooms, and infuse power in items using an exclusive item known as the Magi Mushroom. However, this means they are highly dependent on Fungus Mana, which can only gain by standing on mycelium or nylium blocks, and cannot consume any food other than golden foods to regain their health. They also only have 8 or 6 hearts of health, depending on whether they have Fungus Mana, and they ''lose'' Fungus Mana by either taking damage or killing other entities.
* PlayingWithFire:
** The Ghast origin, characteristic of its Nether mob counterpart, can shoot fireballs and are ImmuneToFire. The Phoenix origin also has these abilities and sets the ground on fire around them when they die.
** The Kindling origin, held by Joel in his third life, is described to be a "lesser fire spirit" from the Nether and their powers heavily relate to fire and heat: they are ImmuneToFire, naturally spawn in the Nether, and have a Heat meter which affects how they can use their other abilities. Said abilities include launching and dashing forward while hurting nearby entities, regain health at the cost of fuel (and cannot consume food), ignite the blocks they're standing on, etc. They're also naturally [[KillItWithWater harmed when in contact with water]] and cannot use Elytra.
* PolarPenguins: The Penguin origin, held by Jimmy in his third life, certainly has an affinity for the cold. They can flop onto their bellies and slide around in cold biomes, and are weaker and slower in warm biomes and require 4-8 levels of the Fire Protection enchantment to function well there. They are also set aflame in the Nether and [[WeakToFire take double fire-based damage]] unless they have high enough levels of Fire Protection, and are slower in non-cold biomes and require the Frost Walker enchantment to maintain their walking speed. %%Additionally, they have greater attack speed at the cost of less reach; only have 7 hearts of health; can only eat seafood (which grants them greater saturation); are immune to pufferfish poison and receive better water breathing from eating them; swim faster; take less fall damage; can lunge, retain oxygen for longer, and deal more damage underwater; and are 0.25 blocks shorter than a standard player (i.e. are 1.55 blocks tall).
* ThePowerOfTheSun:
** The Sunshine Girl origin, held by Shelby in her first life, is entirely based around the Sun. They gain a special meter so long as they are in direct sunlight, while it slowly decreases if they are away from it (e.g. at night or underground), even when going under water. Even in the shade, they glow with little particles, and can [[LightEmUp fire off a beam of light]] which briefly grants the Glowing and Regeneration effects to the target. They also have limited GreenThumb abilities, being able to accelerate crop growth ''à la'' bone-meal with their stored sunlight, and gain the Speed effect in the rain.
** To a lesser extent, the Phoenix origin can Rejuvenate from their Reborn form to their Normal form under direct sunlight, and receive a speed boost on land or in the air while under the Sun.
* PrecisionFStrike:
** After taking on the Star origin, Pearl describes Sausage's yellow bed as "piss-coloured". This somehow gets past the editing on ''both'' perspectives.
** In Seapeekay's 5th episode, he drops the F-bomb while watching a Colin/Snow Creeper fight a burning Stray.
* ProfessionalKiller: The Assassin origin, held by Sausage in his sixth life, equips the holder with traits which can help them accomplish their jobs more efficiently. Their movement speed and jump height is increased by 50% when they are sprinting (i.e. they are more agile than the average player); they aren't slowed by sneaking; their footsteps are silent; and they take no fall damage and [[{{Invisibility}} can become invisible at will]] for 10 seconds at a time. However, this comes with the downsides of having 8 hearts instead of the standard 10, being unable to wear armour heavier than chainmail, and most of their abilities (invisibility, swift sneak, and agility, specifically) being deactivated temporarily if they are hit/attacked, i.e. being a FragileSpeedster.
* ProngsOfPoseidon: The Drowned origin, as underwater zombies, have WeaponSpecialization with the trident, dealing more damage with it and being able to call on its enchanted abilities even without normally necessary conditions (e.g. [[ShockAndAwe summoning lightning]] and riptide-travel) at the cost of extra durability. It is not currently held by any of the server-members.
* ARareSentence: From Seapeekay's Episode 6:
-->'''Seapeekay:''' Is there nowhere for me? Is there nowhere for a sad little rift-bending crab? Sentences you didn't think you'd hear today.
* ShoutOut:
** A few are in-built into the mod-pack:
*** The Create mod's advancement for polishing a piece of rose quartz with sandpaper is called [[spoiler:"[[Franchise/StevenUniverse Pink Diamonds]]"]].
*** The Beach Crab origin is described to be "[c]rustaceans who like to rave", a clear nod to the "[[Memes/{{Music}} Crab Rave]]" meme, and they have an ability to play a note-block cover version of the song in question in-game every 10-15 minutes due to a long cooldown.
** Scott's character design while holding the Transporter origin mixes his usual cyan/light blue with orange. The colour scheme is likely a ''VideoGame/{{Portal}}'' reference.
** The Road Runner origin's speed boost ability is named "[[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog Gotta Go Fast]]". fWhip comments on this, "No [[WesternAnimation/WileECoyoteAndTheRoadRunner coyotes]] are gonna be catching ''me!''"
** The "Bad Guy Timmy" Ken doll box is claimed to be created by a company called "Philzer's Fridge Freezers", with Martyn dressing up as the mascot who wears a familiar striped bucket hat. Jimmy uses this to deduce Martyn was the man behind the prank, as Martyn looks [[IdenticalStranger very alike]] to fellow content creator Philza in real life, and Martyn himself acknowledges that the nod to the fellow creator is [[EnforcedTrope intentional]].
** Ghast mage Sausage flying through the skies with an umbrella in hand has been frequently compared with Film/MaryPoppins.
** When Blazeborn Gem visits fWhip's house to chat with him, Sausage, Joel, and Shelby, Shelby immediately compares her new, fiery look to [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Azula]], while fWhip asks her about her opinion on Zuko. Gem [[PopCulturalOsmosisFailure is confused by this]].
** Scar often refers to the Eye of Ender on Waystones as the [[Literature/LordOfTheRings Eye of Sauron]].
** When Jimmy starts on his Cold Guy training arc, Martyn starts singing a parody of "[[WesternAnimation/{{Mulan}} I'll Make a Man Out of You]]" as narration and commentary.
** In his 5th episode, Seapeekay stumbles across a bee stuck on his way to loot a dungeon and calls it "LetsPlay/{{Tubbo}}".
** In his 6th episode, as he flees from the Las Vegas dungeon by waystone, Seapeekay says, "[[Music/JohnDenver Desert road, take me home.]]"
** While in the Fairy origin, fWhip takes great care to shout "[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Hey! Listen!]]" as often as possible.
** The Third Life Clubhouse constructed by Sausage and Owen/Sparrow with help from Gem and Pearl[[note]]Pearl's Internet died before they could start[[/note]] is modelled after a Music/YellowSubmarine.
* {{Sizeshifter}}:
** The Trickster origin has this as one of their abilities, being able to shrink from the default 1.8 blocks tall to under half a block tall.
** The Star origin does this with the day/night cycle, growing smaller during the day and larger during the night.
** Gem has brewed some potions that can do this as well, which are often used to comedic effect.
* SoulEating: The Dullahan origin, held by Joel in his second life, are "accursed" headless horsemen who can kill mobs and players to trap their souls in soul lanterns, their only food source. They also regain Health next to soul campfires. %%Additionally, they can fire wither skulls as projectiles, summon [[DemBones skeleton horses]] for transportation, impale a target with a "Binding Chain" to immobilize them and give them the Wither effect, and gain the Strength and Speed effect at night. However, they gain the Hunger and Slowness effects in the day while not under a roof.
* {{Steampunk}}: With the Create mod, many of the builds take on a technological aesthetic, mainly using wind- and water-mills and gears, veering towards ClockPunk. Meanwhile, Sparrow is seen flying a redstone-powered, "rickety old" plane reminiscent of those from the early 20th century, and carries around a camera which can both record videos and take sepia photos, which veers towards DieselPunk and later.
* StockAnimalDiet: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. The Hare origin is vegetarian and can eat ''any'' fruits, veggies, and plant-based foods, but [[PowerUpFood can build up more momentum to boost their jump height]] by eating carrots and golden carrots.
* SuperNotDrowningSkills: A handful of the aquatic origins can breathe underwater or hold their breath for longer periods of time, such as the Beach Crab origin, which struggles to maintain moisture to breathe in hot biomes and the Nether additionally.
* SuperSpeed: The Road Runner origin, held by fWhip in his first life, naturally has this power. They naturally sprint faster than the average player and can briefly boost their speed, and are immune to the Slowness debuff and the effects of soul sand. However, they are easily exhausted and require more food, and cannot swim and [[SuperDrowningSkills sink like a rock in water]] (but ''can'' [[WalkOnWater run across short stretches of water]] with the speed boost).
* SweetSheep: The Fluffy Friend origin, held by Katherine in her second life. They receive the Regeneration and Speed I effects when within a 15-block radius to sheep, and become slow and quickly hungry when outside that radius. While the 'sweet' part is determinant to the player, Katherine plays the trope very straight by being one of the nicest people on the server.
* {{Teleportation}}:
** The Transporter origin, held by Scott in his first life, has powers relating to many of the sub-tropes. They can set waypoints which they can teleport themselves and others to, [[SwapTeleportation swap places with another individual or entity that they have 'marked']], and [[ThinkingUpPortals make rifts to teleport distances]] within their visibility range (albeit with a chance of [[TeleportationSickness being inflicted with nausea or slowness]]). However, the aforementioned abilities do not work interdimensionally (i.e. one cannot teleport from the Nether to the Overworld), they cannot wear heavy and dense armour, and using their portal-making ability is exhausting for them, thus requiring much food.
** The Trickster origin has this as one of their abilities, although they can only do so by short distances.
** The Rift Bender origin has this in their catalog of abilities as well.
** The Fungal Mage origin can teleport short distances by condensing warped spores into magical lasers.
* ToiletHumour: There are absurdly many jokes made in relation to certain bodily functions, courtesy of one Mythical J. Sausage. So far, he has claimed his Ghast origin ability to launch into the air and his fireballs to be farts, his pants going from black to brown to be [[BringMyBrownPants something obvious]], the Copper Golem origin's ability to generate redstone at the push of a button to also be excrement, and the Star origin's yellow sparkles to be… well, Pearl says his bed is "[[PrecisionFStrike piss-coloured]]" for a reason.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Among the Creeper varieties, the yeti-like Snow Creepers (named the 'Colins' by Martyn) are the only variety which are not hostile and do not explode on impact; instead, they are neutral (i.e. do not attack unless aggravated) and just head-butt their attacker, doing very little damage.
* TheTrickster: [[ShapedLikeItself The Trickster origin]], held by fWhip in his third life. They can shrink down in size and teleport short distances to where their cursor is pointing. However, they take damage in dark spaces. They may also have other currently unknown abilities and weaknesses.
* VirtuousBees: The Swarm origin, held by Gem in her first life, is [[TheWormThatWalks made up of a group of bees]]. They can hover in mid-air while falling, use bone-meal on (read: pollinate) 4 adjacent plants to help them grow instead of just one, have a "calming aura" which allows animals near them to breed without a cooldown, and can obtain honey products from bee hives and nests without being attacked -- all of which are fairly benevolent powers. However, their sight becomes blurry when near smoke (i.e. near all forms of fire) and they have 3 fewer hearts than normal.
* WalkingWasteland: The Withered origin; formed as the price to pay should a player's human ancestors harness the power of the Wither. They inflict the Wither effect on their targets for a short time in melee attacks, and crops they plant don't grow as they spread decay wherever they go. Animals are also known to be affected in some way, presumably negatively. Their natural spawn is the Nether dimension. It is not currently held by any of the server-members.
* WeakenedByTheLight:
** Many undead origins burn in daylight like their mob counterparts. One of them is the Drowned origin, currently not held by any of the server-members.
** Some other origins are more active in the day and gain debuffs during the day, such as the Dullahan origin, whose "contract to hunt souls empowers [them] under the light of the moon".
* WingedHumanoid: Many of the origins give the player a pair of wings, allowing them to fly, such as the Elytrian origin and the Hippogryph origin. However, there are also origins which let players float or glide without wings, like the Avian, Ghast, and Swarm origins.
* TheWormThatWalks: The Swarm origin is described as being made up of a group of bees.
* YetAnotherStupidDeath: Many of the players' deaths are caused by not thinking things through, but those take up their lives just as much as more meaningful deaths do. [[spoiler:For one, fWhip's brief stint as the Hare origin ends after he accidentally jumps off the roof of his half-built ''starter'' house.]]
