* EurekaMoment: Part 1 of episode 1 ends with Red wondering where on Earth he's supposed to find the necessary equipment to fix his PAK as he wanders through a city. His eyes are then drawn to an advertising column with a flier showing a drawing of Zim (likely put up there by Dib). * InopportuneVoiceCracking: When Lard Nar yells at Red to [[SilenceYouFool be silent]] after having his EvilGloating interrupted in episode 1, his voice briefly cracks and becomes high pitched. Lard Nar notices this and pauses for a second to glance at his fellow Resisty fighters in a manner that suggests he's hoping they didn't hear his vocal slip-up, before giving an embarrassed cough and moving on.

* ItsQuietTooQuiet: In episode 1, right before the Tallest's entourage opens the door to a presumed safe room, Purple comments on how the hallway they're in has suddenly gone silent. Seconds after he says this, the group gets ambushed by assassins waiting on the other side of the door.

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: During their argument in episode 1, Red gives a minor one to Purple where he accuses him of being "selfish, self-absorbed, and always bailing on everything".

* EyeScream: One of the murdered Irkens that the Tallest pass by while evacuating the Massive in the first episode has his right eye blown out.

The solution proposed by the manual is basically turning the PAK off and on again. * GoryDiscretionShot: The scene from episode 1 where Lard Nar [[BoomHeadshot shoots an Irken through the head]] is edited so that only the silhouettes are shown with AlienBlood getting splattered on the floor after the Irken is killed.
* HanlonsRazor: Discussed in the first episode. When Purple makes no headway in fixing Red's PAK despite having worked on it for four hours, a frustrated Red accuses him of deliberately trying to stall him to death. Purple takes offense to his accusation and [[IfIWantedYouDead points out that he could've just not bothered trying to fix his PAK if that was the case.]] Red responds by snapping that the only other explanation he can think of for why Purple hasn't repaired his PAK yet is that he's just incredibly stupid.

* HitStop: When one of the Tallest's bodyguards is [[BoomHeadshot shot in the head]] by an assassin in episode 1, the guard's body is shown falling to the ground in slow-motion as Red stares in shock while Purple cries out in horror.

The story follows Red and Purple, the [[EvilOverlord Almighty Tallest]] of the Irken Empire, who find themselves on the run from [[LaResistance the Resisty]] after a shocking attack on the Massive leaves them both stranded on planet Earth. ** The Resisty in canon were laughably pathetic RevolutionariesWhoDontDoAnything that mostly limited themselves to petty acts of rebellion like [[PokeThePoodle stealing snacks]] from the Tallest. Here, they are depicted as more of an actual threat. In the first episode alone, they come closer to achieving their goals than they ever did in the original show; they cripple the Massive and come within inches of assassinating the Almighty Tallest.

* SayMyName: Red and Purple simultaneously shout Zim's name in terror once they recognize that the planet they're stranded on is Earth.

* {{Deconstruction}}: Purple's characterization as TheDitz in contrast to the more mature and capable Red gets deconstructed in episode 1 where it's ''because'' of those traits that Red looks down on him as TheLoad and has very little faith in him doing anything right. The whole argument that causes them to split up is started by Red assuming that Purple's inability to repair his PAK is due to incompetence and lashing out at him by calling him dumb. It's also shown that while Purple might not be as smart as Red, he is far from stupid and is genuinely hurt when Red insults his intelligence and belittles his attempts to help him.
