* While the idea they are in a poly is very possible April does mention having a western outfit back at home and Augie does have a garage with his name on it.

[[WMG: April's kink is to have two guys battle for her attention]]
Swerving on the above, I think they were indeed in a threesome but it was designed to be as such because April really likes the idea of the two guys battling it out for her attention, and reminds them when they take it too far that she isn't having fun any more. Augie and Skip have their back and forth but still are there for each other when they need to be. It is distinctly better a relationship than the aforementioned Josie and Alexandra.

[[WMG: The Funky Phantom kids are on-the-run polygamists]]
This is the hidden background of the show because it's dynamic makes it stand out from the rest. Why are these kids the way they are, traveling around. They don't start off around a town like Franchise/ScoobyDoo, They aren't a band like WesternAnimation/JosieAndThePussyCats , They don't have a detective agency like WesternAnimation/TheAmazingChanAndTheChanClan, they aren't on a regular schedule like WesternAnimation/SpeedBuggy, etc. They go to a school, but never a mention of a home. They are running away. Even in the time of flower power, free love was cool, April shagging two guys in a three way relationship, that's too much.

Compare how they react to one another. In Josie, Alexandra clearly wants Alan, but she's a pest. Her and Josie are often at odds, and Alexandra is probably there only because she bullied her brother. If Skip and Augie were romantic rivals, why would they both be going every where together willingly? In the Headless Horsemen episode, Skip and Augie both gravitate to a new girl together, which bothers April. If they were rivals you would think one would kick the other out. And likewise when April goes with another guy in the race as navigator, Skip and Augie barely fight as they have to get their girl back. In the boat April's response to them fighting is "will you two decide which one of you is going to serenade me?" She's completely fine with the slight competition for attention but flirts back and is no doubt getting it from both of them.

Now this begs the question, what were they really going to do when they went inside that spooky old house? The song does day they were just hoping to get warm, sex totally would get them warm. There's more evidence then there is length to April's skirt.
