Based on information in the various books [[spoiler: the Azryx were a race of technologically humans who fled into space to escape a plague. This plague was spread from the non-Azryx humans and resulted in the pox Crake finds on the preserved bodies in the Azryx hospital in The Iron Jackal. Trinicia mentions the Samarlan legend of the Nameless gods who "Left Atalon on a pillar of fire". This sounds like a rocket taking off. Similarly the Nameless gods left behind the Juggernauts to cleanse Atalon; hence why a sleeping Juggernaut was found in the Azryx city.]]
