[[WMG: The Warp Topaz time travelled backwards to the Fang the Hunter mini-series, and is still in Fang's possession]]
The gem's final surge sent it back in time to the Classic Era, where it was found by the Heavies and stolen by Fang. The reason why Fang hasn't been seen much after that time period is because he has been using the Topaz to evade the law (or perhaps he's ended up in a different world).

This new reality was created by accident by Dr Eggman in the crossover with Megaman. This, in turn, affected the main Sonic universe, which is why Classic Sonic (who was supposed to be a younger Sonic) suddenly became an alternate counterpart in ''VideoGame/Sonic Forces' and created the ''WesternAnimation/SonicBoom'' universe. In simpler terms, the multiverse destroyed by Eggman wasn't really destroyed, Eggman just created new realities including the IDW one.
