We know from a comment he made in an episode of ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' that not only is he a troper, but he knows Max has an article. He could have found the character page and realized he was labelled as being TheStoic, the OnlySaneMan, etc., and decided to just keep playing that up. That's why he acts so annoyed, rather than just...you know...quitting the recordings. He enjoys it; he's just in-character.
