The two dogs are very devoted to Marta, both suddenly show up at just the right moment to run through the tracks she left that night to prevent Blanc and the detectives from getting anything useful from them, one of them brings Blanc the baseball Richard threw out the window, and another brings Blanc the broken piece of trellis which enables him to start putting together the events that night.
