K and Tsukiuta were the first two original series created by Movic, and there are parallels between the developments of the two series. They were both first released in Fall 2012. Totsuka died on December 7, 2012, the exact date that Kakeru's first single - the first ever piece of the Music/{{Tsukipro}} franchise -- was released, and both are voiced by Creator/YuukiKaji. Also, both share another actor with Shiro - in the English dub, Totsuka's voice actor Creator/LucienDodge plays Shiro's original body, and in the K Charalive dance performances, Shiro was played by Neo Sawabe, who went on to play Kakeru.

* Notice how the first season works as a whole by itself, without any of the later material. If it hadn't done well enough, they could have just left it at that. Then the novels and manga introduced more things that the movie and second season resolved (like Jungle). It's possible that they set up Return of Kings like this, as well - it could work as a stopping point if they need to stop, but they have things in the background that they've planned already, that can be elaborated upon if they want to continue (e.g. any of the below WMGs, or similar theories that people here haven't spotted yet).
