They were most likely the creators of the Jade Serpent which the group encountered (which enables one to contact the "spirit forces" of the mountain range). They also knew about Ismael's Asylum III (it's literally on their "list of interesting places to visits") and had a well thought out storage system for expensive mineral components. There's a tree that's unaffected by seasons near their hut and the ice frog the group fought was probably one of their pet guardians (it had a collar).

It's highly plausible that the Grand Master came for them and eliminated the entire group. Whatever he's doing inside the Monastery is likely destabilizing the local "magical ecosystem" and its guardians ha to be dealt with in order for him to carry on unopposed.

The so-called "Kazan" wasn't a singular position, but instead a group of powerful people who were integral to the ecosystem of the Ransara mountain range. In fact they were very well organized and maybe even had some ultimate task, like keeping some sort of ancient evil at bay.

It's also likely that the Drake the group found trapped in ice is a showcase of their power. The group did decipher one of their ancient scrolls which allows ice spells to bypass cold resistance.

[[WMG: Yurika might be a Snow Beast]]
Among many of the books in the elven library of Valathan one can find songs pertaining to the days of old. One of said songs describes a Snow Beast - a shapeshifting predator which used to haunt the northern reaches of the old Elven Empire and prey on its human inhabitants.

The Beast would infiltrate camps disguised as a weary female traveler. Come nightfall she would change into her true form and obliterate the camp, killing and consuming its inhabitants.

The song describes some distinct features of said Beast. Of particular interest is the verse "hair like snow, eyes that gleam". You know who has hair like snow, eyes that gleam and a supposedly demonic visage hidden beneath her mask? Yurika.

Added DiffLines:

While it is true that the position itself is hereditary, it would also probably entail at least some sort of training, which Yurika seems to painfully lack. It could very well be that she claimed this position by force or was forced into it. To what ends - that remains a mystery.

The dominant theory is that she may have some sort of relation to the mountain seers, but she's definitely not one herself. Maybe a far off descendant who came back and found her family slaughtered by the Great Master.

[[WMG: The Monastery itself is the god-construct which will come to life by the end of the adventure path]]
The powers of the artifacts being gather seem to combine into a functional set of bodily functions - eating (Urgathoa's artifact), sleeping (Desna's artifact) and thinking (Nethys' artifact). The fact that a large number of very skilled alchemists have been gathered in the Monastery is interesting, since historical data seems to suggest that alchemists are the most knowledgeable when it comes to constructs.

[[WMG: The Grand Master isn't a monk! He's...]]
1. A polymorphed storm giant - all those jokes finally pissed the GM off.
2. An awoken clay golem - it's all there (acid healing, gradually increasing in speed as the fight progresses and dealing damage which won't heal when exposed to standard healing magic)
3. The previous keeper of the mountain (i.e. "Kazan"), which means he's half monk half witch - this hinges mainly on the witch's ability to bestow curses which limit your healing capacity. Also our current mountain keeper whose in our party doesn't know jack poop leading me to believe she's quite new to this whole gig
4. A Barbarian who rages very calmly and focuses on crowd/battlefield control instead of blunt force trauma.

[[WMG: The Grand Master is just a decoy - there's a real antagonist waiting to be revealed]]
Goes hand in hand with the golem theory - the Grand Master is just a vessel or a distraction while the real villain is heading the R&D department of the Monastery. Bonus points if it's someone we've already met or heard about. Come to think of it, there was one guy who was awfully proficient at making autonomous contracts but he disappeared years ago...

[[WMG: The Grand Master and Grand Oracle are a pair of frauds using magic]]
Both the Grand Master and Grand Oracle have tattoos. More so in case of the Grand Master, but these could easily be used to conceal magical abilities. For example, during the "trial" the Oracle could have easily buffed the Grand Master if she had a Caster's Tattoo (forehead), which would allow her to easily hide all the radiant sounds and colors usually associated with casting spells. The patterns that can be found on the Grand Master's body are eerily similar to another magical tattoo - the Kin's Face.
