* ExcusePlot: According to the summer 2014 poll, Rinchuu is the third most popular Majikoi girl and is the prime attraction for the A-4 fandisc. However, the Ryuuzanpaku dojo is in the mountains of China and has little reason to get involved with Kawakami unless hired, so a rival mercenary group is invented to try to kidnap Yamato but then barely appears throughout the route while Rinchuu “guards” Yamato.

* CompressedAdaptation: The anime cuts out most of the common route and drops the story into what is essentially Momoyo's route, cutting out all the other routes and adding in some new material to turn the story into more of an UnwantedHarem.

The anime aired as part of the Fall2011Anime and a sequel, ''Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai! S'', was released in [[http://www.minatosoft.com/majikoi-s/index5.html January 2012]]. * CluelessMystery: M is a character who hadn't appeared before in the story. Hope you weren't trying to guess their identity. It's pretty obvious who M is the moment he appears as well.

* SingleTargetSexuality: Miyako in the VisualNovel, to the point that in all of the endings where she doesn't end up with Yamato, she's still shown to be waiting for him even decades later.
** In most routes, physical intimacy is usually either at the very end of the route or in the after story. In Miyako's route, she immediately jumps Yamato the moment he admits his feelings for her.
** Almost every heroine can be treated like this, even the side heroines of the A series, since they aren't shown to be romantically interested towards anyone save for when Yamato stumbles onto their route. In A, Takae, Momoyo, Yukie and Haou even discuss their lives (after a few years into the future) so far and reveal to each other that they haven't met anyone they were interested in. Keep in mind that these four have their own routes, in the main game, S and A series.

* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration: Deliberate integration. To determine which route you enter in the visual novel, the player has to pick a number of events from a rotating pool of characters. On average this runs to about half a dozen events but two girls stand out. Chris, a strongly lawful good character, requires a ''lot'' of events since she's opposed to Yamato's GuileHero tendencies. Miyako, who is already crazily in love with Yamato, just needs *two* events before entering her route. [[ClingyJealousGirl Momoyo also scares away every other girl if you choose her enough times.]]

* ImplausibleFencingPowers: Chris, Mayucchi, and Wanko.

* MarryThemAll: In the Yoshitsune route, he can end up with Aki, Yoshitsune or both Yoshitsune or Benkei, who had spent much of the route drinking whenever she noticed Yoshitsune crushing on Yamato.

* CerebusRetcon: Most scenes involving [[spoiler: Touma, Jun, and Koyuki]] after clearing the Agave path. Most notably, the ending of Chris's route is the only one where [[spoiler: Touma]] opts not to continue in their family's line of work and instead decides to "live for love", a choice that the Agave route's reveals really puts into perspective.

* UnequalPairing: Yamato is a normal high school student. Monshiro is the daughter of a family so influential that multiple presidents and prime ministers attend her wedding. Her wedding to Yamato, that is. Fortunately, the Kuki family isn’t bothered at all and Ageha forces him to call her [[JapaneseSiblingTerminology onee-chan.]]

* AintNoRule: The Kuki battle royale’s only rule is that there are no rules, so Frank Friedrich brings in a missile barrage via helicopter. [[AvertedTrope He’s immediately disqualified despite his protests because no matter what the rules are]], it’s still a four man team battle in a free for all competition, so bringing in outside assistance is cheating.

* EveryoneCanSeeIt: Hooking up with Miyako raises nary an eyebrow from, well, anyone. In fact, most of the other students at school (2-F notwithstanding) naturally assumed that Yamato and Miyako were already dating, and even before the game starts Miyako has already earned a reputation as "Yamato's girl".

* {{Foreshadowing}}: Early in the Agave route, a first year beaten up by Wanko walks about how the Argentinian martial artist Messi was recently in town, entered into an underground fight and lost to a girl named Itagaki, after which he claimed she was on the same level as Momoyo. The girl was only a year or two older than the first year. [[spoiler:Angel is too young for that. Ami is too old. Ignore Tatsuko's lackluster battle performance early in Agave: [[TheBerserker That's not how she fights normally.]]]]

* DoNotCallMePaul: Serves as a BerserkButton for Angel.

* HappilyMarried: The entirety of Monshiro’s afterstory has her and Yamato already married. The months and possibly years just skip along while they stay a lovey dovey couple.

* MusclesAreMeaningless: Characters like Gakuto are outclassed by the main heroines, despite their lack of visible muscles.
** Actually averted to some extent. Gakuto is actually ''physically'' stronger than all of the girls save for Momoyo, but the girls are so much more skilled than he is that it hardly matters. Momoyo is specifically said to have trained her body to a point where her muscles are tight and lean while being as strong as an intense body builder's like Gakuto. It should also be noted that all of the male fighters on par with Momoyo have huge muscles, but are also highly trained fighters. Overall, fighting skill takes much more precedence over physical strength in this universe, [[TruthInTelevision which isn't far from the truth.]]

* NoNameGiven: The Fuuma clan elder is never properly introduced. Yamato just calls him Boss.

* ShipTease: Barring the main heroines who of course each got their own ending, many hints were also dropped for a number of side characters such as Kokoro in Mayucchi's path, leading to their [[PromotionToLoveInterest promotion to heroine in the sequel]].

* BlackComedyRape: Due largely in part to Momoyo, plenty of DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale abounds. Except when [[NearRapeExperience it's not treated lightly]]. Mid-way through her route Mayucchi has to throw Momoyo, addled by [[BloodKnight battle lust]], ''out a window'' to get her off Yamato.
