Added MHX since some elements of it can be sort of noticed too.

** ''ZX'' and ''X1'' features a blue-clad protagonist with great potential (X and Vent/Aile) who joins a peace-keeping organization (The Maverick Hunters/The Guardians), has access to abilities created by a scientist from the previous series who dreamt of everlasting peace (Dr.Light and his capsules/Ciel and the Biometals), was mentored by a blonde haired, red-clad veteran who dies at one point but not before pulling a TakeUpMySword moment (Zero with his Z-Buster/Giro with Model Z), fights a BigBad who used to be part of said peace-keeping organization before defecting (Sigma/Serpent), also battles another villain who works with said big bad but clearly have their own goals as well (Vile/Prometheus and Pandora), the main villain's lair being set outside the city (Sigma Palace/Slither Inc.) and culminating with said lair's destruction and the protagonist vowing to continue fighting the good fight.
** ''Advent'' and ''X8'' features a transforming protagonist who doesn't know their past (Axl and Model A/Grey and Ashe), being a prototype of an ability used by the main antagonist of the game whose thirst for world domination and true nature isn't revealed until late in the game (Albert/Lumine and the A-Trans), the protagonist having the aid and mentorship of the hero from the first game who is now OlderAndWiser (X/Vent and Aile), the return of a villain from the previous game who's ultimately just a pawn in the main villain's scheme (Sigma/Prometheus and Pandora), the final level being high up in the atmosphere (The Moon Palace/Ouroboros) the FinalBoss being able to use the attacks of all the bosses fought throughout the game (Lumine and his angelic form/Albert as Mega Man Model W) and ending on a cliffhanger that has yet to be resolved ([[spoiler:Axl's broken shard/Master Thomas' FaceHeelTurn]]).

Reploid and human relations are the best they've ever been, so Ciel's (and Dr. Light's) goal was legitimately achieved, and the world is improving, albeit with several monsters threatening the peace.

* CrapsaccharineWorld: On one hand, Ciel's ideal of a utopia for Humans and Reploids was realized, at least on the surface, and most average citizens no longer have to live in fear of government oppression and war. On the other hand, not only are Maverick attacks that have wiped out small regions and portions of even the most protected city becoming ''dangerously'' frequent, but major leaders like Serpent and [[spoiler:Albert]] are a BitchInSheepsClothing working to take control and kill as many people as need be to change the world to their desires. The rival Mega Men of ''Advent'' also strongly imply that outside of the first game's central city, Earth is still very much a CrapsackWorld since the ''X'' series and has numerous issues such as the oceans seemingly getting bad enough again that its corresponding Mega Man, Thetis, wants to KillAllHumans.

Justified, however, in that the world is only two hundred years into recovering from the ''disastrous'' Elf Wars and the conflicts in the ''VideoGame/MegaManZero'' series, so despite ''everything,'' the fact Legion, Area C, and other settlements exist ''at all'' and are well-guarded is an ''improvement'' over what was left in the ''Zero'' series.

* DarkerAndEdgier: ''Advent'' to ''ZX''. While Serpent was abominable and got Giro killed, [[spoiler:Albert]] is far more immoral, and his machinations cause a notably bleaker outcome that threatens the entire world by comparison to Serpent's more isolated incident. If you start with Grey's story, it also features two Hunters that are murdered with a GoryDiscretionShot, to the point that Grey's starting weapon is pilfered from one of their corpses after he wakes up. This isn't helped by the rival Mega Men, who are all crazy bastards in their own rights.

##Axl is a prototype of New Gen Reploids, and Lumine in particular.
##Axl is black and Lumine is gold.
##Lumine wants to become the ruler of the new world where the New Gen Reploids reign.
##Both Axl and Lumine can change forms.

##Albert wants to be the god of the new world.
##Both Mega Man Model A and Albert (via Model W) can change forms.

Two centuries after the fall of Neo Arcadia, the wars between humans and Reploids have finally ended. A new government called Legion has formed, which grants humans cyborg bodies and Reploids limited lifespans to make the two races nearly indistinguishable from one another as "Humanoids". Even so, the wilderness is full of dangerous robots called Mavericks, forcing the remaining society to band together to keep them out. The origin of these seemingly random Maverick attacks is largely unknown.

Notably, ''ZX'' is the only mainline Mega Man subseries where the quality of living has been unquestionably improved over the past series. That's not to say that the scars of these wars aren't still seen in a lot of areas, however.

Two centuries after the fall of Neo Arcadia, the wars between humans and Reploids have finally ended. A new government called Legion has formed, which grants humans cyborg bodies (now called Humanoids) and Reploids limited lifespans to make the two races nearly indistinguishable from one another. Even so, the wilderness is full of dangerous robots called Mavericks, forcing the remaining society to band together to keep them out. The origin of these Mavericks is largely unknown.

In reality, the cause is revealed to be an ancient artifact called Biometal Model W. Superpowered individuals called Mega Men seek out Model W as part of the Game of Destiny, a prophecied conflict that will crown the ruler of the world. This leaves it up to righteous Mega Men to stop evil Mega Men from empowering Model W and causing global chaos.
