Moved to YMMV.

* NintendoHard: Schism was still intended as a balance mod, and it shows:
** Monsters are more aggressive than before, and even have different tricks than in standard Brutal Doom.
** There are five difficulties, but only two don't have Fast Monsters and/or Respawning Monsters on by default.
** Every so often, boss monsters such as the Spider Mastermind and Cyberdemon have a chance to be replaced with a unique variant, also replacing certain monsters with theme-fitting variants that are often more difficult to manage.

* DifficultButAwesome: Playing as the Sorcerer can be quite challenging at first, since he's less resilient than the other classes and can't use the more powerful weapons. However, once you get the hang of using his magic and learn how to play strategically, you can easily decimate crowds of enemies with spell attacks.

* LightningBruiser: The Hell Knight still has half the health of the Baron of Hell, but moves much faster than in the vanilla game, meaning they will kill you very quickly if you're not careful.

Currently, there are three functioning classes to choose from, with one playable but not fully functional:

* Doom Marine, specializing in using all the various guns to deal with various situations.
* Paladin, using his fists, axe, sword, and a newly-acquired hammer to decimate in close range.
* Sorcerer, A GlassCannon that deals heavy damage with his spells of Fire, Ice, and Lightning to burn, freeze, and electrocute his foes with ease, yet is not sturdy, himself.
* Corvus, Not fully functional, but he still brings weapons from his home games to great effect.
