* ColorCodedElements: Naturally, given the premise. Roy has [[FireIsRed red fire]] and [[BlueMeansCold blueish ice]]. Played with with his yellow form. While his invisibility/intangibility could be considered [[LightEmUp light-based]], [[ThinkingUpPortals portals]] aren’t an element. See below for more.

''Primary'' is a Flash game made by JackSmack and FrozenFire. The Hueman were a peaceful species, living in a world of vibrant color. That all changed when the Void attacked, feeding on the world's color and laying waste to all of civilization. The Hueman's last hope is a SuperSoldier named Roy who harnesses the power of the primary colors. Roy's objective is to climb to the top of Prizim Tower and stop the Void invasion.

The game can be played on [[https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/527945 Newgrounds]].

!!'''This game provide examples of:'''

* AlienInvasion: The Void's attack is all but stated to be one.
* ApocalypseHow: Class 0. The most the Void do are destroy a civilization but even then after beating the Overlord for the final time, Hueman society is shown to have easily picked itself back up.
* BittersweetEnding: The Void are defeated but Roy [[spoiler: is pulled along with them, unable to resist the pull of the Void]].
* BlobMonster: Both one of the {{Mooks}} and the Overlord function as this.
* BloodlessCarnage: While it's [[JustifiedTrope to be expected]] from the Void, who don't have blood, Roy will never show blood when he dies, even to lasers which have nothing to do with the Void.
* ComboPlatterPowers: Justified as Roy was specifically designed to be able to harness the powers of the three primary colors. Because of this Roy has access to PlayingWithFire, [[AnIcePerson the ability to create frozen blocks]], the ability to [[NotQuiteFlight propel himself into the air with fire]], [[ThinkingUpPortals portal generation]] and {{Intangibility}}.
* CutShort: JackSmack did intend for there to be a sequel, as evidenced by the To Be Continued, but he never really got too far with it.
* EveryoneIsASuper: Implied. We never see what the Huemans are like and Roy himself is stated to be an extraordinary example of one but his powers are also stated to come from them. He just has the ability to switch through different colors.
* EvilTowerOfOminousness: Prizim Tower becomes one for the Void. It has 30 floors for Roy to go through.
* HeroicSacrifice: A weird example in the sense that Roy didn't know he was making one but somehow makes one all the same. In sending the Void back to where they came from he [[spoiler: ends up pulled into the Void with them]].
* {{Mooks}}: There are three types of enemies in the game though none are stated. A BlobMonster that can shoot out sludge projectiles that can kill you, a flying insect-like creature and a wall-crawler that also shoots out projectiles.
* NecessaryDrawback: For the sake of gameplay balance.
** {{Intangibility}} seems like a really useful power but unfortunately Roy cannot move while intangible, meaning that the only time he can use it is when he is already in the process of moving. He also can't activate it midair for some reason.
** Likewise, creating ice constructs would be useful but they will shatter when Roy changes color, until he gets the Permafrost ability. Even then, these ice constructs will still shatter over time.
** Red is the color hit the least by this trope. Roy can generate fire whenever he wants but only in one direction, hence his upgrade just allows him to generate fire on the ground as well.
* OneHitPointWonder: Roy may have an awesome arsenal of powers to boot but he unfortunately SuperToughness ain't one of them. If he touches anything to do with the Void (or a laser), he will die immediately.
* OutsideContextProblem: For whatever reason, Prizim Tower has lasers in it's rooms, despite the fact that the Void absorbed all the color in civilization.
* PowerOfTheVoid: The Void, obviously.
* RecurringBoss: The Overlord is the only boss Roy faces in the game and is fought on three different times. He also serves the role of FinalBoss.
* SpikesOfDoom: Featured quite prominently on the ground and walls.
* SuperEmpowering: Roy's colors get upgraded in three different levels.
** Level 11, upgrades Yellow. This allows him the ability to [[ThinkingUpPortals generate portals]] when previously Yellow could only turn [[{{Intangibility}} intangible]].
** Level 18, upgrades Blue. Permafrost allows Roy's ice constructs to not shatter whenever he changes color... and that's it. They will still shatter over time.
** Level 26, upgrades Red. Fireboost allows Roy to propel himself into the air using fire.
* ToBeContinued: At the end of the game [[spoiler: as Roy is being sucked into the void]].
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: The Overlord makes use of this ability, with his shapeshifting his limbs into blades and tentacles against Roy.
