General clarification on works content: objective, purpose of red doors

''Elevator Action'' is the first game made by Creator/{{Taito}}. Released in Japan and North America in 1983 and in Europe in 1984. It was originally (at first) made for the arcade. It was later ported to the Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Famicom, Game Boy, MSX, NES, SG-1000 and the ZX Spectrum. Modern ports were also done though mobile phones, the Playstation 4, Steam and the Nintendo Switch.

Players assume the role of Agent 17 aka Otto, who has to search buildings full of enemy spies trying to kill him. Otto needs to travel down one floor each by using an elevator, which is located in the middle of said building. However, Otto can also jump across the shaft if the elevator is located on a floor above him.

!!Elevator Action 1 provides examples of:

* EndlessGame: After beating the final stage, you're taken back straight to the beginning to do it all over again until you lose.
* KillTheLights: Otto can shoot the lights in order to distract the enemies.
* MyRulesAreNotYourRules: In later levels, your enemies can lie prone on the floor and shoot at you. You are limited to standing and kneeling.
* OneHitPointWonder: Otto and the enemies can only take one hit. Thankfully, later games add health bars and hit points.
* SharpDressedMan: Otto and the enemy spies are dressed in suits and ties, although the spies also wear hats.
