All right, well...

Female. Joisey New Jersey (Yes, I'm serious). In college. Studying math. I'm an EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette with NerdGlasses, both of which earned me unwelcome nicknames in high school. People seem to link the math bit with the glasses bit and I get a lot of SmartPeopleWearGlasses, as well. I can also be something of a snarker, and I naturally tend toward SesquipedalianLoquaciousness. Not to sound smart. I just talk that way. And I like cats. A lot. I can be something of a GrammarNazi[=/=]SpellingNazi.

I am a hopeless nerd, as most on this site are. The same is true of the rest of my family as well, though they are loathe to admit it. My sister will freely admit to geeky interests, but never to totally being a geek, and, despite being biologists and StarTrek fans, my parents were raised in an era when the word "nerd" was purely an insult (in addition, my dad makes extra money on the side off of comic books and my mom was an original MontyPython fan). I guess there was no hope for me.

Not that you care about any of that.

* TheBigBangTheory

* Dexter

to:

* DexterDexter. Well, not since season six started, anyway. Can you say PlotHole?

* ASongOfIceAndFire

I used to be an avid reader and could crank out a book a week, no problem. I also never watched TV, something you may have noticed is no longer the case. I slowed down and have only just picked reading up again with ASongOfIceAndFire.

One of my favorite tropes is Adorkable. I'm slave to it, I admit. I also enjoy a good DeadpanSnarker. One of my least favorite tropes is OverlyLongGag. It's probably the main reason I hate FamilyGuy so much.

I only shared this anecdote with my family recently, and they thought it rather odd, so I thought I would put it here.

I never used to follow TV shows as a kid, to the point where I actually hadn't heard of Buffy until a few years ago. So, when I started raiding Netflix for interesting shows to pass the time, I just hunted for shows I'd heard of that struck my fancy. I'd heard of PushingDaisies from Youtube, so I watched it. It wasn't until the twentieth or twenty-first episode that I found out it had been canceled.

The feeling in the pit of my stomach was essentially nausea. Food was generally unappealing and any time something reminded me of the show I had a churning in my gut (unfortunate because I found out shortly before Thanksgiving, and we always get lots and lots of pies on Thanksgiving). I got over it within a week or so and finished the series. Ever since then, when I get really into a show or series or something, if I think about it in passing the nausea returns. Not every time. But often enough. Since PushingDaisies, really becoming addicted to a book or TV show has been a different experience. And not altogether as pleasant as it once was. Thanks, ABC.

Some shows/movies/etc. I like:

* ArrestedDevelopment (RIP)
* AvatarTheLastAirbender
* BeingHuman. Do not speak to me of the American version.
* CriminalMinds, though I don't follow it anymore.
* DeathNote
* Dexter
* Fahrenheit 451
* Futurama
* JossWhedon and anything thereof, particularly Dollhouse and Firefly. Actually, really just Dollhouse and Firefly. RIP.
* Pixar
* PushingDaisies (itself now doing the same).
* Scrubs
* You Don't Know Me - David Klass
