We were created good but we fell from grace, so the struggle between good and evil in the real world is much more internal than external. Humans have great potential for both great good and great evil, and in our fallen nature we often mistake one for the other.
** CardCarryingVillain: Despite how much I like morally complex villains in ''most'' media, I like these kinds of characters when done in a {{Parody}} of a genre. The audience can't tell who the baddie is unless you spell it out -- at least that's how ''these'' characters see it!
** DarkMessiah: To be blunt, this is how your average EvilOverlord takes power in the real world. Dictators and cult leaders will present themselves as forces of light and goodness (whether they mean it or not).

** AlternateHistory: I'm something of a history buff so I naturally like speculation about history. To be honest I'm a fan of stories on ''both'' ends of the SlidingScaleOfAlternateHistoryPlausibility ... as long as they're honest about it. I like a good fantasy but be honest about it being fantasy, similarly I like a realistic researched setting but don't pretend it's a fun light-hearted thing.
** CanadaEh: Most depictions of Canada are more on the AffectionateParody side of things, and that I like. Despite our large landmass we really are the "quiet little town" of countries.
** FantasyKitchenSink: Yes. More cool stuff ... is cool. To be fair throwing ''everything'' at the protagonists and audience can make it overwhelming, but the setting having lots different of things to interact with is a plus to me.
** FeudalFuture: Alright, hot take incoming, I'm not a fan of how some writers depict future societies as ideally egalitarian. Sorry Creator/KarlMarx but that's just not how history works - civiliations rise and fall all the time, sometimes knowledge gets lost in accidents, and (most pertinent here) people naturally form hierarchies.
** WorldOfWeirdness: For much the same reasons as FantasyKitchenSink, I really like settings that just have lots of strange and interesting elements. If everybody finds it normal, that makes good worldbuilding. Screw the {{Masquerade}} (''unless there's a good reason for it''), just be open about all the supernatural stuff happening in the universe!

Hence why I put it in my username when it's been years since I watched the movie.
