!!Six character tropes
Note: Not work pages.

[[folder:November Argenstrausz]]
* ArcherArchetype: A skilled archer who fights primarily with his bow, although [[BowAndSwordInAccord he may use a dagger in close combat.]] He acts and fights tactically, keeping himself hidden, using the element of surprise and preferring to working on his own to minimise unpredictable elements. Due to having Asperger's, he's unfortunately lacking in social skills and empathy, but he's making the effort.

* InnocentBlueEyes: Often depicted with a naive expression coupled with this. He acts very child-like and of all three men is the most idealistic, always having some form of hope or faith in others no matter what.
** Develops IcyBlueEyes, however, when he goes into assassin mode to reflect on the lack of empathy and his single-minded goal in eliminating whatever stands in his way with any method that presents itself.

* HalfHumanHybrid: Though he's not willing to reveal how much of his lineage is as such, he's half-elf. Due to his lineage he only has leaf-shaped ears which he hides with his hair, passing for human, but he also retains the fast reflexes and agility of an elf. That's about as far as it goes; he prefers that people don't focus on it so he doesn't draw much attention to it.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Sweet, helpful and polite, but still a dangerous assassin who has no empathy for his targets if he chooses to be as such. He also looks incredibly peaceful, almost dopey at best, but provoking him enough can turn those eyes stone-cold.

* RedBaron: The ''Mad Musician'', a moniker that he carries from his past. Pre-Manuk he's not proud of it, but post-Manuk it's his reputation with the Runebirds, given that he's known for his obsession with music and an almost-MoodWhiplash manner of switching into killing mode.

* FragileSpeedster: While his close combat skills do make him deadly due to his speed and element of surprise, November notes that he prefers to fight at a distance and/or tactically because getting physically hit winds him easily, if not taking him out.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Marlex 'Lex' Hyeung]]
* LargeHam: As part of his stage persona, he makes a great deal out of everything and loves showing off with as many effects as he can artistically achieve while preserving the grandeur of the occasion without getting into narm territory. Offstage it may leak a bit, so he can be predisposed to going from softspoken to hammy to softspoken without a beat.

* GenreSavvy: Years of experience in what he's described as the "harsh entertainment industry" of Comodo has left him calculative and shrewd. He is the company's negotiator as a result and very often makes preemptive clause agreements in order to prevent certain scenarios if he feels that the other party is liable to taking advantage. Very often he's not wrong.

* HiddenDepths: At first glance you could mistake him for being shallow and artificial, just out to have fun, materialistic and easily excitable. Then Lex reveals an uncanny sense of business, psychology and wisdom that he doesn't display in his stage persona, showing that he's far more grounded than he appears to be outside of work.
** While he has interests in electronic music, he's also shown to be classically trained in piano and flute. He and Nov may have huge differences on preferred music tastes, but they can speak the same language when discussing music.

* ChivalrousPervert: Lex flirts with every girl he sees, but is actually a consummate professional and workaholic who keeps his mind focused on the job. He finds it distasteful to play hard to get if there's no interest in the first place.

* GreyEyes: Hints at his resilient and steadfast nature, and also gives a backdrop for his past - he and his sister had to fight to survive in the wilderness. Sometimes flashes of this coldness can still be seen, though the events of his personal story fully demonstrates that his steely eyes are not just for show.

* RagsToRiches: Not explicitly mentioned in his background, but he's noted to be a celebrity with very few financial concerns. This is a stark contrast from his backstory, where after being kicked out of the orphanage he and his sister resided for a few years they had to struggle to survive, moving from place to place until they found their calling in Comodo.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jinlong Fa]]
* TheStoic: Jinlong by default is very poker-faced, especially with his blindfold on since no one can see his eyes or eyebrows. This gives the impression that he doesn't always show emotion.
** Subverted in that in privacy and with children he smiles and is actually a lot more animated. It's just that he prefers to keep a distance since he can't see people, and therefore can't read or trust them.

* DisabledMeansHelpless: One of Jin's major insecurities is being seen as this, and therefore he generally refuses all help until it's a little too late. He often misinterprets San's intentions to expedite his daily household chores as this, leading to a lot of frustration from her since she genuinely just wants to help. This plays a major role in their relationship, both during and after ''The Search for Hyunji Lee'', where he finally understands that she likes being helpful, and she realises that he hates being seen as helpless and works to never make him feel that way.

* LightningBruiser: Jin is highly acrobatic in order to pull off his kicks. In hand to hand combat he's backed with the power of the celestial bodies and his own strength (to the point that he generally [[TechnicalPacifist leaves off the cosmic powers]] so he doesn't go too far). Now, take into consideration that he sacrificed his own sight to deal all of his fighting at high speed. San couldn't even match him in the past until she became a Sura.

* BlindWeaponmaster: His lack of sight does not hamper his fighting ability, even if he says he took his disability a little too hard at first. Contrary to popular belief he's not 100% blind, but what little sight he has is blurred and permanently unfocused, and light hurts his eyes. In ''The Search for Hyunji Lee'' we find out that his dedication to returning to form after losing his eyesight and being one of the most competent members of the Celestial Temple qualified him as a Temple Master.

* DisabilitySuperpower: Alongside improved hearing and smell, Jin developed a sense for life force (qi) so that he can tell the difference between animate and inanimate objects due to his blindness. As a side effect he can also judge a person's health and fitness level, although he can't tell their personalities or what they even look like. He seems to have developed blindsight, but he notes that it doesn't give him any advantage over anyone else.

* BattleCouple: With San, due to them developing a relationship and partially as a nod to the game where Taekwon Masters have a passive skill that synergises with Monk-class characters.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lihna San]]
* ActionGirlfriend: A martial artist who taught herself what amounts to the Northern Praying Mantis kung fu and a competent hand-to-hand combatant with a profound knowledge of pressure points, and always raring to get into the action. She's no slouch either; sparring with Jinlong Fa brings both of them to a draw and ''he is a Master of the Celestial Temple''. And yes, she's Jin's girlfriend and combat partner.

* PressurePoint: Has an immensely encyclopaedic knowledge of them, including sensing the flow of qi in a person's body to locate such points. She also knows that this can turn lethal, and generally hesitates to use it on anyone for combat. Instead she prefers to heal with them.

* BareFistedMonk: San's primary fighting style is the Northern Praying Mantis, a kung fu style known for its close proximity hand-to-hand combat. If that's not enough, she favours a HurricaneKick to gain distance, and utilises KiAttacks using her Spirit Spheres. She does not, however, always fight bare-handed; occasionally she can be seen with a pair of golden furred knuckles or a cast-iron FryingPanOfDoom.

* NeverLearnedToRead: As an orphan found wandering the woods, she never went to school and the hermit who took her in considered reading less important to, say, survival in the wilderness. By the time she meets Jin in Prontera she can only read a few simple words, and very slowly. She starts teaching herself in order to read Jin's letters for him. This becomes an important factor in solidifying the relationship between the two.

* TheLadette: Prefers being called by the more gender-neutral 'San' rather than 'Lihna'. Loves drinking and swearing, has a crude sense of humour and is aggressive, almost always willing to challenge people to drinking competitions or fights. She also definitely has little to no regards on showing skin and only resists completely wandering around Jin's house topless because she respects Jin's image. It's implied that she was oft forced to be feminine as a child, so her behaviour in adulthood is meant to show off (and enjoy!) her complete freedom. Contrary to most examples, however, she's not interested in sex.

* {{Asexuality}}: San has shown absolutely no interest in having sex. It's implied that she has had sex, but she doesn't see it as a big deal, nor does she feel it's important to having a relationship with anyone. Though she becomes Jin's girlfriend later, this doesn't change because aromantic and asexual are different.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Atticus]]
* HeadlessHorseman: In his dullahan form, he is this. However, associating him with the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow fame is a BerserkButton for him; doing such will cause him to promptly enlighten the offender with the differences between a Headless Horseman and a dullahan.

* LosingYourHead: Atticus has the capability to continue talking while he's holding his head underarm as well as move around just fine, justified given that he's undead. He is however extremely protective over his head and never leaves either body or head by themselves, because without his body his head can't move and without his head his body can't quite find its way around.

* RedheadInGreen: As his human form shows, Atticus has auburn hair. When he turns into a dullahan, his outfit changes to green hues. This isn't normally obvious at first sight as his hair is desaturated to a near brown-grey from death, but it's clearly meant to represent his Irish descent.

* PlayingWithFire: Atticus has the ability to cast green fire at will. Though it's not for offensive purposes; he simply uses it either set his head on fire and use his head as a lamp, or utilise it as special effects to ramp the drama up during his performance. Indicated by his real MeaningfulName: it's Daighre, Irish Gaelic for fire.

* TheAtoner: Atticus was an Irish Gaelic mercenary in life with a lot of crimes under his belt. As such, it was his punishment to turn into a dullahan and collect souls for quite possibly eternity. He is genuinely remorseful about his crimes and attempts to preserve his humanity so that he could care for the dying rather than dismiss them like he did once before.

* GentleGiant: At six foot one, Atticus towers over the rest of the founder team, regardless of human or dullahan form. In his current incarnation he's completely pacifist by choice and treasures life greatly ''because'' he knows he's tall and intimidating to others.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Arcturus Hollingbury]]
* LockedIntoStrangeness: His hair is half-white after getting hexed by his sister after an argument. As in, half his head of hair is white.

* IJustWantToBeNormal: Has anxiety and paranoia issues, and crippling low self-esteem, and actively envies others for being relatively unburdened. Desperately wishes that he could be like them.

* ShellShockedVeteran: Displays a lot of signs of PTSD from the Second Wizarding War, such as recurring nightmares, anxiety issues, cries from flashbacks and demonstrates the thousand-yard stare multiple times. Has issues expression his emotions are having repressed them for so long, and feels weak and flawed for feeling the way he does.

* HeroicSafeMode: As a healer, Arc shuts his emotions down in order to handle emergencies without breaking down. His issue, however, is starting back up once he reboots.

[[folder:The Song of the Minstrel]]
In a world where [[PhysicalGod gods are real]], Anuro's king falls under the spell of his new wife and executes his royal minstrel. Unfortunately for him, said royal minstrel was also the prophet of the god of song and formerly of war Melshevah, who proceeds to curse the country in anger and kill the king with his personal assassins.

Seven years later, the deceased minstrel's son Seldoran is travelling across the country, running from the queen's guards as the country continues to deteriorate. When he gets given none other than the royal Sword of Kings, he decides to set out to ask for advice and give it back to its rightful owner, the next heir to the throne.

Seldoran's journey spans three books, under HeroicFantasy.

!!This trilogy provides examples of:
* ActionGirl: Ruciene Esserina, foreshadowed when she explains Illeidonese women are not afraid of walking alone at night because they are usually armed and trained in martial combat, and that in Illeidon the women look up to Ameia, the goddess of ''war''.
** Lady Nadelleine Selvena is a LadyOfWar.
* AwesomeButImpractical: The sword dancers of Illeidon are spectacular in battle, but because [[FragileSpeedster they sacrifice armour for speed]] the army has a rather high turnover in the number of soldiers. Thankfully the protector necromancers try to do everything within their power to reduce the casualties in war.
** PaperTiger: Illeidon has always depended on Anuro's sorcerers and the necromancers to fight wars. In an effort to make itself look intimidating, it came up with the idea of the sword dancers. Nowadays most Illeidonese think it's a glorified job, but are too proud and stuck to their traditions to replace the sword dancers with something more functional.
* BeliefMakesYouStupid: Thanks to Melshevah's slip-up, nearly everyone Seldoran meets in Anuro thinks this way and sees him as a narrow-minded religious fanatic and a fool.
* BigNo: For someone who speaks softly most of the time, Seldoran is fairly capable of short, sharp ones.
* CannotSpitItOut: ''Seldoran''. Thankfully Ruciene catches on fairly quickly and understands that Seldoran is more preoccupied with staying alive most of the time. [[spoiler:He finally tells her before the finale, at which point she informs him she already knew.]]
* CelibateHero: Despite falling in love with Ruciene, Seldoran chooses not to pursue his feelings for her in light of the quest he has to complete. [[spoiler: They finally get married in the epilogue.]]
* TheChosenZero: Seldoran is a minstrel who suffers from a chronic illness, has no fighting skills, and can't perform magic. All he owns is a harp and the Sword of Kings, of which he has no idea how to use. And he's the one who has to help his god break the curse. He gets better fairly quickly, at least.
* ClosedCircle: Seldoran can't abandon his quest, even if he has good reasons for doing so. As his god's prophet he has to restore belief in his country, he's the only chance Anuro has of restoring its royalty, and he feels he has to do it because his father sacrificed himself to keep him alive.
* CoolSword: This shouldn't be surprising, given the Sword of Kings was forged by Ameia herself as a gift for Melshevah, who then passed it down to the Anuran kings.
** TalkingWeapon: The one doing the talking is Prince Erian, and only Seldoran can hear him, but otherwise it counts.
* CourtMage: Before King Anadar died, Lord Feremath Merssendyll was one. [[spoiler:He returns to this position in the epilogue.]]
* CryIntoChest: TearJerker version of Seldoran doing this to Ruciene out of grief [[spoiler:for his beloved harp]] after a very long [[HeroicBSOD BSOD]].
* DarkIsEvil:
** Blood necromancers wear dark red and use necromancy for its more recent definition. They are said to have thrown away their respect for the dead in exchange for power.
** The Queen's Dark Guards, corrupted souls enslaved to serve her for eternity.
* DarkIsNotEvil
** Lord Merssendyll wears dark blue and has black hair, but he's a white sorcerer - a pioneering magic-user who tests the boundaries of magic for the good of the people. The dark blue wardrobe, as it turns out, is just a ranking.
** On a closer level, Annollus truly wears black because he's a necromancer. He's also one of the Nine (powerful protector necromancers who sacrifice their souls in order to study necromancy for ''good''), and is one of the most supportive characters.
** Illeidon necromancers in general. They tend to act more like grumpy jerks towards outsiders because of how much negativity they get given.
** The Veldirian demons are dark-skinned, but are extremely hospitable, friendly and understanding.
** LightIsNotGood: Queen Riella, on the other hand, wears pure white and has pale skin and hair. She's not just a black sorceress, but also the BigBad. [[spoiler:And a demon lich.]]
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: In a world where GodsNeedPrayerBadly, this theory is the most popular on Melshevah's origin. The fact that Melshevah doesn't remember how he came into existence seems to support this theory.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Tired of El Dorran's anti-religion messages, Illeidon killed their messengers, thinking that El Dorran would be frightened. Instead the Empire angrily declared war. Oops. The Anuran Council is too polite to tell the Illeidon Generals, but Annollus isn't afraid to get snarky.
--> '''Annollus''': You believed that you would not get repercussions from [[BullyingADragon beheading a powerful empire's messengers]]? I'd say you ''deserved'' this war, but it is not fair that the civilians have to pay for your stupidity.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Poor Seldoran.
* TheEmpire: El Dorran is an expansionist group of militaristic secular countries that uphold the belief that man should no longer rely on magical creatures or gods. The governments of the Gelgan countries would be totally fine with this if El Dorran didn't keep trying to convert them to their point of view. See DidntThinkThisThrough.
* {{Familiar}}: All sorcerers have one, white or black, and each one becomes an animal that represents their personality. Lord Merssendyll's is a [[EverythingsWorseWithBears grizzly bear]]; Queen Riella's is a [[AllWitchesHaveCats snow leopard]]. They're summoned with a high energy cost and can only be summoned in the presence of a sorcerer who isn't the caster, but can only be dispersed by another sorcerer's familiar.
* GenreSavvy: Queen Riella knew that the rightful heir of Anuro would be the one to defeat her, and the Sword of Kings can channel Melshevah's power to bring him back to life. So she buries Prince Erian's body in the harshest, most inaccessible place she knows.
* TheGodsMustBeLazy: Averted in the case of Melshevah. He has very little power at the beginning of Seldoran's journey, and has to depend on his prophet to set things in motion before he can gain some strength back and start restoring his country.
** Ameia can't help Anuro except keep an eye on Melshevah because she's not the ruling goddess and therefore doesn't have any jurisdiction within Anuro. [[spoiler:When she marries Melshevah at the end, Anuro includes her.]]
* GhibliHills: Veldir is described to look like this, much to the shock of the main characters. The demon country used to be a barren, desolate wasteland, but ever since the New World began the magic has been slowly purifying it.
** A deliberate contrast to [[GrimUpNorth the mountain range in the north]], but also gives the Veldirians the perfect place to banish anyone who disrupts the country's peace. [[spoiler: Not that it stops Dagur.]]
* GodsNeedPrayerBadly: Partially NiceJobBreakingItHero as well. Melshevah's momentary outburst of anger led to him cursing his own country and caused his own people to abandon him. The lack of belief meant he weakened and eventually slipped into a deep sleep as self-preservation.
** This doesn't happen to Ameia, the goddess of war, because she has a stronger presence in the other Gelgan countries and so wouldn't be affected as much as Melshevah was.
* GoodWitchVersusBadWitch: Lord Merssendyll is a white sorcerer and Queen Riella is a black sorceress.
* GreenEyes: The Minstrels who become prophets are born with green eyes, because their god has them. There is no one else in Anuro that has that eye colour. Seldoran spends the first book trying to not look people in the face so they don't recognise him for who he really is.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Lady Selvena uses a composite longbow as an archer and Lord Elveraan is a swordsman.
* {{Hellevator}}: The bridge that Seldoran and Annollus have to use to get to Limbo.
* HeroicSacrifice:
** Darius "leads the royal guards on a merry chase" and gets himself captured so that they won't notice his son escaping with Lord Elveraan.
** Melshevah doesn't die, but in the third book he gives up the remaining strength he has to Seldoran to keep him going and consequentially falls into a comatose sleep.
* HoldingBackThePhlebotinum: There are a lot of overpowered forces in the books, but they don't help much for several reasons.
** The Ravens don't kill Riella in the beginning because [[ExactWords they only kill those who touch his prophets, or give the order to]].
** [[AllPowerfulBystander Melshevah]] doesn't interfere with human decisions because he'd rather humans solve their own problems. He only gives guidance and advice. Ameia can't do anything because she has no jurisdiction and shares the same philosophy as Melshevah.
** No one except the rightful heir to the Anuran throne can use the Sword of Kings without a penalty. And no one can take it off Seldoran unless they kill him first.
** Seldoran can't use his brand of MusicMagic because he hasn't completed his training, has a very basic understanding of the old language and only knows one song in said language.
** Prince Erian can use the Sword, but he's dead and his body is in Riella's possession.
** The White Elves refuse to intervene because they don't want anything to do with humans anymore apart from the people who have visited their home.
** The Dark Guards can't cross the border into Illeidon because Riella's magic only works within Anuro and Veldir. [[spoiler:She eventually gains enough power to do so, though.]]
* IllGirl: Seldoran. [[spoiler:In the epilogue it's revealed the White Elves came up with the treatment for his illness during his quest, and he's getting better.]]
* JerkassGods: Melshevah looks like this at first, having cursed his own country when his prophet was executed wrongly, but over the course of the story it's revealed he deeply regrets the action and tries his best, despite his illness, to help his one remaining believer set things right.
** He IS a bit of a {{Jerkass}} in that he has the Ravens - his messengers and ''assassins for people who wrong his prophets''.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Queen Riella, also an IceQueen. She doesn't need a magic staff to fight, though...
** LadyOfWar: ...because she is equipped with [[DualWielding two swords]] for close combat and is quite competent at it. [[spoiler:Justified given her true identity.]]
* MagicAIsMagicA: Magic in this world is...complex, to say the least, and humans have never really been able to fully tap into its potential. The most important thing outlined about magic is that it is a neutral cosmic force and its power depends on intent, concentration and conviction as the magic-user must mentally tap into it and manipulate it to flow into, around and against living creatures only. It also explains why the best magic-users in the books are the most level-headed characters in the book, don't get surprised easily, and have as much stamina as the melee fighters do.
** Seldoran can't use magic normally because he is linked with a god, who is basically a magic sponge - every time he tries to manipulate it, it just gets sucked up by Melshevah. Instead he gets the option of the demon language of the OldGods to command the cosmic force - in other words, ''order it around to do his bidding'' - through [[MagicMusic song]]. The problem is that he hasn't completed his training yet and can only be taught by the White Elves. [[spoiler:He resumes his training in the epilogue.]]
* TheMedic: Lady Adora.
* NiceJobBreakingItHerod: While not the BigBad, Prince Erian's father was tricked into believing his Minstrel was going to usurp his throne and therefore resolved to kill the entire Melphius family to make sure that this didn't happen. The problem with killing a prophet is they already know what's going to happen and can plan for it in advance...
* NayTheist: Everyone in Anuro save for the Supreme Council and Seldoran is this after Melshevah cursed Anuro. Annollus ''pretends'' to be one; necromancers expect their colleagues to not believe in any of the world's gods, but Annollus still has a little faith in them. [[spoiler:And he's grateful to Melshevah for returning him his soul.]]
* {{Necromancer}}: The necromancers in Illeidon use necromancy as its older definition, and are not evil. The Nine, powerful "protector" necromancers, take it one step further: they specialise in research of one of the nine areas of the magic to use it to protect other necromancers and innocent people, including fighting in wars.
** Blood necromancers, on the other hand...
** Either way, necromancy is still viewed negatively in the eyes of the more traditional magic-users. A few see the benefits of it, but usually it takes a while for people to understand that normal necromancers have great respect for life and death and don't resurrect the dead [[ForTheEvulz just for kicks]].
* TheOldGods: The Old World was dominated by [[EldritchAbomination demon gods]]. Life for humans was [[{{Understatement}} miserable]], needless to say.
** DeathOfTheOldGods: Legend goes that Melshevah, then a young warrior god, decided to stand up to K'sharrugah, the oldest demon god, and won. Although he remained humble about it (and still does), he went on to bring in a new pantheon that were less eldritch and a lot more benevolent. The other demon gods wisely decided to disappear before they went the same way K'sharrugah did.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: The White Elves appear to look like a mixture of High and Wood Elf, but in fact they're a very benevolent and intelligent race of ''demon deer''. They are mostly responsible for teaching humans how to be more civilised, but they have now become isolationist because humans demand their power and knowledge. The only reason why they're called elves originates from folktales told as a beacon of hope during the reign of the OldGods, and they took on the form of beautiful, slender and tall people (with odd deer-like features nonetheless) in order to not scare humans away.
** The Veldirian demons are basically what happens when you take the descendants of another species of benevolent demons, remove the magic and add in a knack for machinery and a good-sized portion of business sense.
* OurGodsAreGreater
** Human gods in this world need and are shaped by belief, which is the theory for Melshevah's ascension to godhood through this. Confirmed by the lack of belief slowly draining him of his power. He could actually be defeated by mundane ways if anyone cared to, but he doesn't give much reason to. Human gods are also ''very'' human; most significant display is Melshevah's outrage at his beloved prophet getting executed.
** The demon gods are more eldritch abominations formed from the general evil of the universe. They don't need belief to exist as long as there is evil and negative cosmic flow, which there always will be. It's implied that even though the demon gods have left the world, they still keep an eye on it for the time they can return to claim it once more.
** The inhabitants of the world practise polytheism, with many of the gods and goddesses crossing over.
* OurLichesAreDifferent: Dagur.
* PhysicalGod: Melshevah and Ameia are the only ones named and seen, but Ruciene mentions a few more. There is also mention of a young demon god called Dagur whom Queen Riella worships [[spoiler:initially]].
* TheProphecy: Unusual in that the prophecy only applies to the prologue. Despite Seldoran's status as a prophet, he spends the entire story not knowing how his journey is going to turn out because Melshevah is too weak to foretell the future for him.
* ResignedToTheCall: As Melshevah's staunchest believer, Seldoran is the only person who can help the god channel his power even though he is the least suitable person to even carry the Sword of Kings. Unsurprisingly the minstrel is the most reluctant character until the third book.
* RetiredBadass: Damian Vellis, former Commander of the Blue Dragons, an elite battalion of Illeidon's sword dancers. Given that sword dancers have short, if spectacular, lives during battle, the fact that he's survived long enough to retire says a lot.
** On a celestial level, Melshevah. Before he became the peaceful god of music and song depicted in the books, he was a warrior god who not only survived the reign of the OldGods, but killed the strongest one.
* RuleOfThree: No prizes for guessing how many times Seldoran manages to be on the brink of death due to injury throughout the novels.
* SealedGoodInACan: Prince Erian spends most of the books as one.
** SoulJar: Arguably the Sword of Kings serves as one, just that the owner of the soul within needs it to come back to life.
* ShipperOnDeck: The entire Supreme Council fully supports Seldoran getting together with Ruciene. The minstrel, though, has other things on his mind.
* SkeletonGovernment: Played straight with Anuro, which in the books is mostly in a state of oppressive collapse due to Queen Riella's iron control and the only glimpse we see of the absolute monarchy is at the beginning and end of the story.
* TheVoiceless: Both Melshevah and Ameia. To normal humans, their voices are said to be comprised of the sounds associated with their role (Melshevah's is all musical instruments, Ameia's is the clash of weaponry) and are too deafening for anyone to make out the words, so they always speak through their prophets. Seldoran describes Melshevah's voice as "gentle, lilting and harmonious", but doesn't want to describe it when the god is angry.

* ReluctantMonster: Atticus hates his dullahan appearance, to the point that he throws cold blood at people who watch him because he feels ashamed about it. He feels sorry when he has to take the souls of people away from their loved ones and resents being ostracised for his appearance and role.

* BlindWeaponmaster: His lack of sight does not hamper his fighting ability, even if he says he took his disability a little too hard at first. He uses a combination of qi, auditory and olfactory senses, and common sense to figure out his surroundings (the qi works to determine if an obstacle is living or not). He has a black belt, which should tell you everything.

everything. Contrary to popular belief he's not 100% blind, but what little sight he has is blurred and permanently unfocused, and light hurts his eyes. It's also implied that he suffered scarring to his eyes, hence the blindfold he wears.

* IWillWaitForYou: So apparently according to San, because he doesn't want to admit it, he's waiting for his girlfriend to come back from the Celestial Temple so that he can finally settle down with her. The kicker is that she's been gone for over a decade, but he's still willing to wait for her.

* TheStoic: Smiles ''only'' for children and possibly his MIA girlfriend. San tries to make him smile more, to no avail. The combination of a poker face and blindfold along with absolute calm enhances this.

* SuperSpeed: Downplayed but still applicable. Jin sacrificed his eyesight to the celestial bodies in order to fight faster. San can barely keep up; for the record she's a third-class profession.

* LightningBruiser: Strong, fast and a high endurance.

* BlindWeaponmaster: His lack of sight does not hamper his fighting ability, even if he says he took his disability a little too hard at first.

Due to having Aspergers, he's unfortunately lacking in social skills and empathy, but he's making the effort.

* HalfHumanHybrid: Though he's not willing to reveal how much of his lineage is as such, he's apparently part-elf on his mother's side. While he doesn't have pointy ears, he does retain the fast reflexes and agility of an elf.

* GenreSavvy: Oh, ''very''. Years of experience in what he's described as the "harsh entertainment industry" of Comodo has left him calculative and shrewd. He is the company's negotiator as a result and very often makes preemptive clause agreements in order to prevent certain scenarios if he feels that the other party is liable to taking advantage. Very often he's not wrong.

* HiddenDepths: November first assumed that his stage persona is his real personality: just out to have fun, materialistic and easily excitable.

Sometimes flashes of this coldness can still be seen, even if PlayedForLaughs.

Note as of 26 June '14: ''Film/TransformersAgeOfExtinction'' opened in my country today. I will refrain from adding tropes apart from the subjective pages (with proper spoiler markup, so don't blame me if you choose to highlight them) until it's fully opened for the rest of the world.
