The film will be completely different minus a few shots common to both, Snyder is planning to work using his own footage where Cavill had no mustache at all and not the theatrical cut -- the Creator/JossWhedon reshoots are the ones that had that infamous botched CGI face.

* TroubledProduction: See the ''Trivia/{{Justice League|2017}}'' Trivia page for the theatrical version's troubles. By all accounts, the [[Script/JusticeLeague2017 original script]] was heavily modified before shooting to account for the response to ''Film/BatmanVSupermanDawnOfJustice''. Principal photography actually went smoothly, they even managed a one-day break to make a Comic-Con appearance. Things started compounding once Snyder decided to leave, the theatrical version became a [[ExecutiveMeddling mashup of a dozen ideas and studio notes]] of how to hammer the movie into something that pleased everyone (and it eventually didn't). Snyder admitted he took all the footage he filmed and early cuts home with him out of habit, but it was highly unlikely Warner Brothers would bother working on a director's cut. The home video release only had a couple of inoffensive {{deleted scene}}s and they avoided talking about what actually happened for years, moving on with the following films. It wasn't until the [=#ReleaseTheSnyderCut=] campaign made enough noise, partnered by a large number of people associated with the film including some of the lead actors and Snyder himself as well as [=AT&T=] executives seeing potential buzzy content for Creator/HBOMax, that some talks began on how to finish it up in early 2020. The film still needs some work to be completed, and it's especially difficult to do so amidst the [[UsefulNotes/CoronavirusDisease2019Pandemic COVID-19 pandemic]] (among other things, [[Creator/{{WETA}} WETA Digital]] was unable to work on it, Creator/ZoicStudios were hired instead), hence the release in 2021 only.

* {{Jossed}}: The very existence of a "Snyder Cut" was subject to much debate, with a number of critics saying it simply did not exist beyond an unwatchable, no proper FX work, 4 hour cut based solely on the footage filmed in principal photography. Conversely, some [=#ReleaseTheSnyderCut=] advocates would claim that there was a mostly intact cut of the film that could be presented to the public with little trouble. The truth was somewhere in the middle, although obviously leaned closer to a workable but incomplete edit Snyder had put together before he left production. Most advocates understood that, but pointed to the plethora of {{Missing Trailer Scene}}s, deleted footage from several sources, unfinished FX sequences and eventually [[WordOfGod Snyder's own pictures on Vero]] that something HAD to be there. Evidently, critics were forced to admit they were wrong, as even if the project is being reworked (meaning this is not the exact thing that Snyder would have made if he stayed on, but he will have much less, if any, [[ExecutiveMeddling executive pressure]] this time around), they were adamant that it would never be released.
