** The story wasn't fully worked out when ''The Night'' was first animated, so Daria left it ambiguous if the staff turned Missi into a vampire, or if she always was a vampire and just pretended to be human to get her hands on it; this is also why Missi's ears are covered by her hair before she transforms. It was later decided that the staff turned her into a vampire and she was completely human before that.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: When Daria first animated ''The Night'' she hadn't worked out the story yet and wanted to leave it open to interpretation whether Missi was a vampire the whole time or not. This is why we don't see her ears until after she transforms. There was also a deleted animatic where Missi was resurrecting Duke from the underworld because she wanted to be with him. None of these details fit in with the story that was eventually worked out.
