* RealSongThemeTune: Both games used a theme song by Music/LinkinPark. The 2010 reboot carried "The Catalyst", the main single of ''A Thousand Suns''. ''Warfighter'' had "Castle of Glass" from ''Living Things''.

* BackByThePentagon: Both games received technical advice from actual Tier One operators in the U.S. military. Unfortunately it later turned out that these operators ''did not'' have Pentagon permission to advise on the games for ''both'' occasions, and they were subsequently disciplined, making this a SubvertedTrope.

* FranchiseKiller: ''Warfighter'' was so poorly received that [=EA=] ended up putting the entire ''Medal of Honor'' series on hiatus, with many critics mocking it for personifying all the negative aspects of the Modern Military Shooter genre. It didn't help that the series was competing with the similarly themed ''Battlefield'' series, which was also owned by [=EA=] and performing much better on the market.

* ShownTheirWork: The 2010 installment goes through the trouble of showing that the Air Force has some specialized ground combat troops who fight alongside the Army, in the case of Technical Sergeant Ybarra. At the same time, they goof on the uniforms worn by the Rangers he works with, giving them the Army Combat Uniforms that were still several years away from being introduced (though this could have been intentional to make it clear Ybarra was the [[TransferStudentUniforms only one not from the same unit]]).
