* WhatCouldHaveBeen: For a while, the sequel seemed to be heading in a DarkerAndEdgier direction, looking more like Nintendo's answer to ''VideoGame/GodOfWar''. Apparently, Pit was a adult now and was "cursed for thousands of years for a crime, becomes a 'FallenAngel'", and had a [[TattooedCrook tattoo]] on his arm bearing the inscription of said crime. Most of the fans did not like it. Fortunately for them, they went with the ''Brawl'' redesign and appear to have scrapped the old ideas.

** Strictly speaking, along with "Tanatos", "Palutena" was actually another romanization error made when the original game was released. Her name is really supposed to be "Parthena", but the former spelling has come to be recognized by Nintendo as the official romanization of her name, as evidenced by its use in this game.
