* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Tachikawa considered making a sequel in 2004, but by that point she had left ''Nakayoshi'' and had her attempt at making an "unofficial" one shut down by Kadokawa. An actual SequelSeries featuring an entirely different cast was released later in 2021 by a different author, Shiki Yamori, but only lasted 4 chapters.

* OvertookTheManga: The anime was produced while the second half of the manga was still in serialization and thus doesn't adapt several aspects related to the manga's MidSeasonTwist, its corresponding reveals, and the {{Foreshadowing}} leading up to it. Unusually for an anime adaptation of its time, it opted to continue adapting the manga's content to the very end anyway (even despite [[AdaptationInducedPlotHole most of the parts leading up to the final arc no longer making sense with it]]) rather than make a new GeckoEnding.
