[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3dd0a33a_dff0_4250_ae13_198d9f2fa159.jpeg]]''Our Place'' is a one-act play written by Terry Gabbard.

The show is about five different stories that take place at the same dock.

''Our Place:'' Jake and Holly arrive at the dock for a date, but things go south when Jake’s ex, Anne, shows up with her new boyfriend, Lyle.

''Flick of the wrist:'' a woman, Beth, is trying to get her father, Jonathan, to remember her.

''Famtime:'' Al tries to take his wife, Brenda, and two children, Nicky and Sherry, on a canoe trip.

''Tuna fish:'' couple Liberty and Cory when a conversation about tuna sandwiches reveals a lot about how Liberty is feeling.

''I’m staying with you:'' a teen boy, Stanley, runs away from home when his six-year-old sister follows him.

The ensemble all gathers for the epilogue.

!!''Our Place'' provides examples of:
* AmusingInjuries: Sherry hitting Al on the back of the head with a paddle is treated as a joke.
%%* Annoying Younger Sibling: Sherry and Sidney are both examples of this. How?
%%* Betty And Veronica: Holly is the Betty to Anne's Veronica. How?
%%* Creepy Child: Sherry.
* DaddysGirl: Beth was very close to her father before he got sick.
* DeathOfAChild: [[spoiler: Sidney, a six year old, drowns to death after falling off the dock.]]
* DoubleMeaning: Liberty talks about food as a metaphor for her relationship with Corey.
* DownerEnding: [[spoiler: the show ends with Sidney and Jonathan both being dead, and everyone leaving the dock sadly.]]
* KillTheCutie: [[spoiler: Sidney, a hyperactive and precious six year old, drowns to death.]]
%%* Lighter And Softer: The third story, Famtime, is this. How?
* MoodWhiplash:
** ''Flick of the Wrist,'' a story about a woman trying to reconnect with her senile dad, goes straight to ''Famtime,'' a goofy family trip story.
** While ''I’m Staying with you'' had its sad moments, most of it was kind of jokey. [[spoiler: It goes straight serious when Sidney falls off the dock.]]
* PietaPlagiarism: [[spoiler: The last story ends with Stanley sobbing while holding Sidney’s dead body.]]
* ParentalIssues:
** Discussed with Liberty when she mentions her father didn't support her getting a degree in philosophy.
** Stanley has issues with his parents, specifically with his father, calling him "him" instead of his dad.
* ScatterbrainedSenior: Jonathan is an older man who has an undisclosed sickness that makes him this.

* AnnoyingYoungerSibling:
** Sherry is constantly annoying her older brother, Nicky. She's always trying to scare him, talking about him getting encephalitis and mosquitoes draining him of his blood, and he's clearly annoyed with her antics.
** Sidney gets on her brother's last nerves. A justified example since she's six and he's seventeen. Stanley finds her overdramatic nature, constant reference to her friends, and her being InnocentlyInsentive about his issues.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Stanley, despite acting like he hates her, clearly loves and cares deeply for Sidney. He's concerned about her being out in freezing temperatures. [[spoiler: When Sidney falls into the lake, Stanley doesn't hesitate to jump in after her.]]
* CreepyChild: Sherry has a very dark sense of humor. She makes jokes about death and illness, even telling Nicky they have to sacrifice him since there are not enough seats on the canoe. At the end of the scene when the family leaves to take Al to the hospital after Sherry hits him in the head with a canoe paddle, she gets excited over the potential of seeing a gunshot victim at the hospital.

* LighterAndSofter: The third story, Famtime, is one of the lighter scenes from the show, especially after following ''Flick of the Wrist,'' one of the saddest scenes of the show about dealing with a sick parent.
