* Fans can’t seem to agree on the subject matter of "Don’t Let’s Start" due to its cryptic lyrics. Common interpretations include an argument between family members, depression, or a breakup. Whatever it is, some of the lines are definitely TearJerker territory.

* In terms of songs with sad lyrics, “Last Wave” definitely doesn’t hold back. Although it doesn’t have a confirmed meaning, it appears to be about suicide, or at least coming to terms with how utterly depressing existence can be.

* "I Can't Remember The Dream" is about a guy who lives a generally awful life, but last night, he had a wonderful dream that would provide a much-needed relief from said awful life... if he could remember anything about it. The cosmic cruelty of the whole situation makes for a remarkably unhappy narrative.

* “End Of The Rope,” which could very plausibly be taken as a song about suicide. Linnell’s aching vocals only make it worse.
* “All Time What” is a shockingly straightforward song for TMBG, told from the point of view of someone whose significant other left them. It’s heartbreakingly realistic, especially to anyone who’s gone through a difficult breakup.
* From the 2018 edition of Dial-A-Song (later released on My Murdered Remains), we have “Best Regrets,” a deeply melancholy song seemingly about regretting a past relationship or friendship (although as with nearly all TMBG songs, it’s a bit ambiguous). Even the music is heartbreaking!

* "I Am A Ring," a 2018 Dial-A-Song exclusive, is hard to decipher, but could all too easily be about a toxic relationship, and the music is just as melancholy as the lyrics.

* In a strange way, "Ana Ng" could qualify, with the application of some FridgeHorror. The lyrics suggest it's about a man whose soulmate is someone he'll ''never meet'', and yet the song is catchy and fun-sounding.
