** Unfortunately, this is quite a bit of TruthInTelevision, as young adults becoming independent and cut off from their support structures for the first time in their lives can often lash out when confused or frustrated at obstacles in their way.

* Because his friends and family are all off living their own lives, Steven now has to face his new challenges mostly on his own, without other people to help defuse tensions, think through problems, give him emotional support, or just plain tell him to back off. And it quickly becomes clear that without his usual support systems, combined with his teenage/galaxy-saving confidence and complacence in peace time, that he is becoming quicker to anger when things don't go his way, and a little bit more than arrogant when dealing with people.

** When Steven loses control of his powers, Volleyball's reaction is to curl up into the TroubledFetalPosition and cover her head, all the while shaking and whimpering in terror.

** Volleyball's surprise and gratitude that Steven would actually take her to the Reef get her repaired there implies that despite the fact that Pink hurting her was unintentional, it never even occurred to Pink to even ''take'' her there in the first place.

** On top of that, Steven was ''very'' hesitant in telling Pearl that the injury was Pink's doing, going as far as to allow Pearl to believe that White was the one who did it until Volleyball finally corrects her...which makes Pearl vehemently deny that Pink would ever do something like that.

** The fact that Volleyball feels the need to ''apologize'' for Pink Diamond's awful behavior, even though she scarred her face and left her under White Diamond's control for 6000 years. Not only is this [[WithFriendsLikeThese a flat-out horrible thing for Pink to do to a friend]], but Volleyball's behavior is disturbingly close to the things an abused person might say.

* While the Zoomans still holding a grudge against Greg for not choosening any of them is PlayedForLaughs, it's actually somewhat depressing that a relatively mild negative experience causes them to act so bitter against someone they used to treat as one of their own. Just goes to show that, while they have matured greatly, they are still not quite there yet.

** The fact that Volleyball feels the need to ''apologize'' for Pink Diamond's awful behaviour, even though she scarred her face and left her under White Diamond's control for 6000 years. ** What makes it even worse is that, like nearly every other bad thing Pink did, it was totally unintentional; according to Volleyball, Pink was asking for a colony, only for the Diamonds to condescendingly refuse her yet again, [[RageBreakingPoint causing her to start smashing up the room in a fit of rage]]. During said fit of blind anger, she accidentally hit Volleyball, who was standing ''just'' close enough to be caught in the crossfire. In a lot of ways, it's a microcosm of Pink/Rose's whole life; [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom doing what she thought was correct, only to screw it all up and hurt people she cared about]].
