* Johann and Micheal's deaths. Yet again, someone dies at the hands of Ali. Sure they are not very nice people, but seeing their reaction after Ali mercilessly attacks them is very painful. Johann's statement is that they are nothing but [[ChildSoldier child soldiers]], who only exist to be "Meisters" tasked by ''someone'’. Then, they end up being killed in battle by the enemies.

* After what already happened to Lockon in two previous episode, Tieria locks Lockon in his room, feeling it is the only way he can protect him. Unfortunately, he failed because Lockon succeeded in escaping from ptolemy. All ptolemy crew and the other Meisters worry about him, but he insists he will be fine if they follow Sumeragi’s directions. Sumeragi can only hope that Setsuna will hurry and save Lockon before it is too late.
* Lockon finally ''succeeds'' in avenging the death of his family, but he is unable to feel joy in it. Lockon feels so empty because he cannot move on from the tragedy.
** Lockon;s memory focuses on celebrating Christmas with his family, and it quickly shifts to the moment where he is alone in the rubble where his family became KPSA victims. This sends the message of just what Lockon lost that day.
** Lockon thought’s turn to his twin, '''Lyle Dylandy'''. He wonders how his brother’s future will turn out. Then he sees Exia rushing to his location, and wonders if Setsuna ever found the answers he was looking for.

* While it can count as heartwarming, Lockon's interaction with Feldt is also sad. It turns out that Feldt's parents used to Meisters who died for ''unknown'' reasons. Since Celestial Being deemed the incident secret information, she was never told the reason for their deaths. Lockon offers comforting words to Feldt, calling her strong for following in her parent’s footsteps. In turn for sharing her story, Lockon tells her about his own tragic past and his real name, Neil Dylandy.

* We see '''two Lockon Stratos''' at Lockon’s family’s gravesite. One “Lockon” looks down at the graves and comments on the one who left them there, while the “real” Lockon remains hidden in the trees, quietly looking on. It is the first time we learn that Lockon still has a surviving family member, and that their relationship is likely strained at best.

* While it can count as heartwarming, Lockon's interaction with Feldt is also sad. It turns out that Feldt's parents used to Meisters who died for ''unknown'' reasons. Like the other ''Gundam-series'' in general, ''Mobile Suit Gundam 00'' is about war and terrorism. While this series also killed several characters including the most popular and the very minor ones, almost '''all''' the characters suffer many unfortunate things. These events can cause them to suffer numerous traumas or at worse, a tragic death.

* The whole point that kick-started the entire plot. Given that the show ran in 2007 when UsefulNotes/TheWarOnTerror was still strong in a lot of people's memories, it makes the series even more tragic.
** Setsuna (who used to be known as '''Soran Ebrahim''')was already being trained to be a killer since childhood. Setsuna used to be a ChildSoldier who was trained by Ali Al-Saachez in KPSA. Where he was also being brainwashed to kill his own parents as part of their ''graduation'' to become a full-length "warrior" who will "fight for name of God". In truth, Ali also didn't believe in God and was only using them as the tool for causing a mass terrorism in world. This event left behind so much scars for Setsuna, refusing to acknowledge his old-self and the existence of God.
* Neil and Lyle Dylandy both come from a happy and perfect family. However, due to Neil being depicted as the more gifted one, Lyle suffered an inferiority complex and disliked being compared to his perfect brother. To overcome this, Lyle decided to run away. Ever since then, Neil and Lyle had little chance to reunite, and Lyle didn’t know the tragic fate of his older brother and his involvement to Celestial Being.

** Then you have Neil. Imagine ended up witnessing your entire family killed, with your very own eyes, by terrorists when you just wanted to spend your time with them that day at the mall. You may wonder how hard his life was after his family's death. Even after all that, Neil continues to work hard and even sent money to his younger brother Lyle for his education and future.
* Allelujah Haptism used to be a normal, ordinary boy until he was kidnapped by the HRL scientists to become a test subject of the HRL's Super Soldier program, which led to him being brainwashed. He was then only known by his code number as ‘’E-0057’’, but was later given a name by Marie Parfacy, as 'Allelujah' as a blessing for life to God. Unfortunately, Allelujah was deemed as one of the experimental failures and was to be disposed. So, he and the other failed test subjects decided to escape and he was forced to leave Marie behind due to her requiring special medical care. Though they managed to escape by stealing a space shuttle, their shuttle ran low on all possible resources to keep them surviving after drifting aimlessly for days. As a result, Hallelujah emerged and began killing all of his ‘’brothers’’, leaving him the only survivor. With this incident, it left a huge scar for Allelujah.
** In the prequel novel, it was revealed that Allelujah lived alone and continued to hide from the HRL soldiers, before being recruited by Celestial Being due to him being a SuperSoldier. Have you realized Allelujah is the only Meisters who rarely hold a gun other than during his childhood? Some fans speculated Allelujah might be traumatized to ever hold a handgun due to what happened at his childhood.

** As part of a living data of Veda, Tieria now has no age limit. Which means he's now immortal as long as Veda is saved. Even though Setsuna became part of a HalfHumanHybrid of Innovator-ELS who's also immortal, they will unable to see their friends along with Allelujah and Lyle since they're still human and will eventually pass away from aging.
* Of course, even minor characters suffered a lot as this is a tradition in the Gundam series.
** Pictured on the right: Although Louise was [[TheScrappy a very unpopular character]], the scene where [[spoiler: Saji visited her in hospital and gave her the ring that he had been saving up to buy for her, and she started crying and saying she couldn't wear it, and revealed that she'd lost her left hand in the attack that killed her family]]. And she ended up [[spoiler:lending support to A-Laws, becoming one of its soldiers all for the sake of revenge against Celestial Being in season 2. At worse cases, she became Ribbons' personal puppet only to use her for money to fund the A-Laws and Innovator technology development. And Ribbons ''paid'' back by giving her special medication formulated by the Innovators, which led to her to become some kind of a "pseudo-Innovator"]]. Imagine how shocking it is when [[spoiler:the Trans-Am Raiser is activated for the first time, revealing that she and her lover Saji are fighting on ''opposite'' sides]].
*** With this, you can see why she's NotSoDifferent from what happened to Neil and Lyle. While Lyle was able to move on from tragedy, Neil and Louise ended up being a broken person, trapped in their past and became a person who thirst for revenge. Louise was, luckily, able to be saved, Neil however...[[spoiler:He died]].
** Same with Louise, Saji and his sister, Kinue are unpopular characters. However, after the unfortunate events that caused [[spoiler: Kinue’s death and Louise deciding to break up with him for his dream after all of her family members are killed, Saji is now alone and blames Celestial Being for making him and Louise suffer.]]
* Even the Azadistan's princess Marina Ismail has to struggle with being ActualPacifist in a world where action speaks louder than words. She expresses confusion and distress over the conducts of Celestial Being, and all her efforts to achieve true peace ends up literally burned to the ground in season 2.
* It's so sad to see how Feldt has no idea what causes her parents is killed. In prequel novel titled ''Mobile Suit Gundam 00P'' , her parents was the 2nd generation of Gundam Meisters and their name is '''Ruido Resonance''' and '''Marlene Vlady'''. They are killed in ''Plutone Accident'' during their mission. Due to Celestial Being rule of secrecy, their death causes never be told to Feldt, but she just know that her parents already die when she still a baby.

However, being Innovade and half-Innovade, they shown to be caring to each other. ** Nena's fate throughout the series can be seen as disturbing, to say the least. She blew up the wedding because she's annoyed by seeing people happy when she's tired from "work" (shooting at soldiers, munition workers and the like). Eventually, it was revealed that, instead of being the people that can change the world, their actual "work" was to be shot at as part of Ribbons's plan to accumulate hate against Celestial Being, and allowing for him to deploy the GN-Xs and the Innovades. Because the Trinities had little support from the crew of the Ptolemy and used interior machines, if one of them was killed, they wouldn't be able to fend for themselves as their tactics relied heavily on co-op skills. With some luck, they survived several contacts with the GN-Xs, so Ribbons had to dispose of them through both Ali and by taking advantage of Louise's mental instability and thirst for revenge. She's pretty much an ill-treated WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds.
*** As are her brothers for that matter. Especially sad is Johann's [[NotSoStoic reaction when he sees Micheal shot dead by Ali.]] And then the words he says just as he's about to die, and the utterly broken way he says it...

* Mixed with NightmareFuel due to ''True Pillar Incident'' that accidentally caused by Soma Peries, Kinue expression after known that Saji and Louise are part of the people who evacuated from the pillars is very heart breaking reminder that Saji is the only remaining of her family members. She can't help but praying for their safety.

* Because of saving the trapped citizen at ''True Pillar Incident'' is not part of Veda tasked to him, Allelujah ended being locked up in empty room as the punishment over one weeks. This moment finally become the biggest HarsherInHindsight of Allelujah's fate at the end of season 1.

* We see '''Two Lockon Stratos''' at his family grave in the middle of the rain. Turn out the one who come earlier at the grave was the ''real'' Lockon. And the man who come at the grave, wondering about the flower is absolutely his twin brothers (who his name still not revealed). It's mean that he is not the only survivor of bombing accident at AEU Ireland many years ago.
* While it's a heartwarming scene to see Louise's mother come to see her daughter at episode 9, please noted she come to Japan is not only visited her. Due to the ''True Pillar Incident'' and ''car bomb terror'' that happened near to her and Saji, Louise's mother wanted to drag Louise back to Spain for her safety.
* While it's also can count as heartwarming, Lockon interaction to Feldt also sad. It's turn out that Feldt parents used to be a Meister who already die for ''unknown'' reason since Feldt didn't know the cause why they die due to their death as "part of Celestial Being secret". Lockon tell to her that she is strong girl due to she follow their footstep to become part of member of Celestial Being. In turn, he tell to her about his tragic past and his real name, '''Neil Dylandy'''.
* Christina being panicked after they are being attacked by HRL forced, and she plea to Allelujah to hurry and save them.

* After realized his ''failure'' to shown Nadhleeh was too earlier since it was his trump card, Tieria begin to crying because of he feel he already ruin Veda's plan.
* In other sides, Allelujah also crying after see Hallelujah killing Adjudant Ming in brutal way. Since Hallelujah was part of his ''personality'', Allelujah questioning to himself if he was indeed destinied to be such a cold-hearted monster who eager to torture and killing their enemies.

** Even Christina can't help but feel sorry to all of them. And this quickly moved to Sumeragi,who also blame herself due to her failure and call herself as "pathetic".

* The MoralEventHorizon scene of Nena Trinity, where she [[spoiler:blast the beam at a wedding party of Louise's cousin at Spain is the most painful moment in this series. One thing that you need to remember that Louise is OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent has no any connection with military, which mean she is a normal civilian who come from very rich family. And she ended forced to see her '''entire family killed by her with unknown reason''' by Nena. She also almost lose her life due being found at debris, lose her left arm,lose her entire family and suffer a heavy poisoned by GN-Drive tau particle. No wonder why this poor girl so traumatized.]]

* The scenes start from Saji, who at train station and waiting for next train to return to his home. He wait it by watch all old E-mail from Louise. No longer after that, he receive new E-Mail from Louise. Her message is ended that she wanted to Saji to wait for her and she will catch up him at space. This message ultimately become HarsherInHindsight about their fate in season 2.
* [[spoiler:Kinue's death]] at the hands of [[spoiler:Ali]], followed by [[spoiler:poor Saji being called in to identify his sister's body]] (which happens ''before the opening credits begin!'') or [[spoiler:him speaking with Kinue's boss, who feels guilty because he didn't do anything to stop her from pursuing such dangerous work]]. And as a result, the last person imaginable to be anywhere involved in Celestial Being's war still ended up getting roped into it.

* After their Gundams are mysteriously disabled from Veda, this is leaving Tieria in confusion and wondering why Veda dare to do this. This situation become great chance to Patrick to attack Tieria, but ended with Lockon pull his sacrifices to shield him from Patrick/GNX attack, resulting him suffer a fatal injury. After realized Lockon pull his TakingTheBullet moment, Tieria absolutely so surprised and unhappy.

* The scenes is starts from Lockon, who now in medical bay. Dr.Moreno suggests that he must have two weeks in medication pods to heal all his wound, especially his right eyes. However, Lockon refuse to do the treatment because he feels that he only become the burden if he ended at medical bay, and believe that in critical situation, he can't use this time peacefully to heal his wound. In addition of his words, he also feel bad to Tieria too, who still sad because he feel that Lockon's injured was part of his fatal flaw.
* This is first time Tieria finally seen to blame himself instead of he angry at Lockon or with someone like what he do as usual. He feel become so useless if he and Celestial Being do operation without Veda.
* [[spoiler:Johann and Micheal's death]]. Again, at the hands of [[spoiler:Ali]]. Sure they are not very nice people, but see their reaction after [[spoiler:Ali]]mercilessly attack them is very painful. Johann statement is shown that they are nothing but part of ChildSoldier, who only exists to be "meisters", do a tasked by ''someone'' and ended being killed in battle by the enemies.

* After what already happened to Lockon in two previous episode, Tieria only able to lock him at his room because he feel that this is the only way to protect him. Unfortunately, this attempt was failed because Lockon succeed to escape from ptolemy and rushes to battlefield. All ptolemy crew and the other Meisters worry about him, but he only can said that he will follow Sumeragi directions and go back safely. Sumeragi can't help but trusting Setsuna to hurry and save Lockon before late.
* Lockon finally ''succeed'' to avenge his family death, but he didn't shown his happiness after he succeed to do it. Lockon feels so empty because he unable to move on from the tragedy and he is nothing but a poor man who unable to accept the tragic fate of his family and ended become a man who thirst of revenge. He realized he can't bring back his family.
** He remember the moment when he celebrate Christmas around with his family, and it quickly shift to the moment where he see the ruin of the place where his parents and his sisters become one of KPSA victims. You may wonder if this tragedy was happen at next day after the Christmas, this is so painful to watch it.
** Lockon twin brother name reveal to be '''Lyle Dylandy'''. After he know that he fail to change the future, Lockon begin worried about Lyle's future. When he see Setsuna is hurry to save him with Exia, only shown his warm smile to him.
* This episode ends ''extremely'' tragically when [[spoiler:Lockon Stratos, the series' resident badass is killed in battle, sending the remnants of his Gundam and his Haro, which was pleading for Lockon's life the entire time, back to the main ship]]. Who'd ever think that a constant SayMyName could be so depressing? It's all made even worse when you consider that [[spoiler:Lockon had survived a perilous situation within the ''previous two episodes'' (albeit with [[EyeScream eye damage]]); no one expected Sunrise to let him survive that, only to kill him off so soon afterwards]].

* Lyle finally successfully kill Ali Al-Saachez, the man who take his family life. Lyle didn't shown his satisfied of his action, even though he success to kill him, there are nothing to change from him. His family already die, and will never return. Lyle actually reluctant if he able to kill his family murderer, especially when he remember Anew word about ''to understanding each other''. After remember again about her words, He finally understand that Ali CompleteMonster who do all his crime purely ForTheEvulz doesn't deserve to be pitied. Lyle also declare he will keep fighting as Gundam meister for future if the world keep blame or reject his existence.
** His insecurity to kill Ali is not without a reason. Lyle ever has a mind to shoot Setsuna from back as a revenge for shoot Anew to death. However, since he know the situation is different and he also know that Setsuna has no other choice to do it for save him too and Ali kill his family because purely for spread the terror in the world, he finally know that killing Ali was the right things to do it, and he finally stop the man who already causes the unforgivable terror in the world.

* While the ending is full of joyful and heartwarming moment, Tieria statement and farewell to his comrade is very sad since he now become one with Veda as living data. Tieria also stated that he will always be with them and continue to see the growth of humanity within Veda, before fading away in this scene.

* The result of Celestial Being lose 4 years ago in ''Operation of Fallen Angels'' finally also impact to the world. Now, there is a fascist group named A-Laws. Where he also being brainwashed to kill his own parents as part of their ''graduation'' to become full-length "warrior" who will "fight for name of God". In truth, Ali also didn't believe in God and only using them as the tool for causing a mass terrorism in world. This is leaving a scars to Setsuna, refusing to acknowledge his old-self and the existence of God.
* Neil and Lyle Dylandy are come from happy and perfect family. However, due Neil being more superior than Lyle, he suffer a inferiority complex and dislike being compared with his perfect brother. To overcome this, Lyle decide to stay away from them and live in boarding house. After that, Neil and Lyle have little chance to reunite, and Lyle didn’t know the tragic fate of his brother and his involvement to Celestial Being.

* Allelujah Haptism is used to be a nameless and amnesic boy who become a test subject to create a SuperSoldier for Human Reform League military. He only known with his code number as ‘’E-0057’’, and later renamed by Marie Parfacy, as a blessed for life to God. Unfotunatelly, Allelujah is one of failed test subject which need to be disolved. So, he and the other test subject decide to runaway from the facility, and forced to leave Marie due her medication needs. However, since they has no idea where they will go, they ended killing each others to stay alive due to lack of food and oxygens. As the result, Hallelujah emerged and brutally killing all his ‘’brothers’’ and only leave him alone who survived. Which this become Allelujah permanent scars in his heart.
** In prequel novel shown that Allelujah lived alone and try hard to stay away from HRL territory to evaded from captured as StreetUrchin, before being recruited by Celestial Being due to him being SuperSoldier. Have you realized Allelujah is the only meisters who rare to hold a gun asides at his childhood ? Some fans speculated Allelujah supposed to traumatized to using a hand-gun due what already he/Hallelujah causes at his childhood.

Luckly, his friendship and compassions with human drive him to always loyal to Celestial Being.]]
** As part of living data of Veda, Tieria now has no age limit. Which means if he now immortal as long as Veda is saved. Even though Setsuna, become part of HalfHumanHybrid of innovator-ELS who also as immortal as him, they will unable to see the other ptolemy member along with Allelujah and Lyle since they still human and has age limit, and they will passed away from aging.
* Even being minor character, Saji, Louise and Kinue also suffers the same things and one of them ended tragically killed on-screen.

*** After you see what happen to Louise, you can see what happen to her is NotSoDifferent from what already happen to Neil and Lyle Dylandy. While Lyle able to move on from tragedy, Neil and Louise ended up being a broken person who trapped in past and become a person who thirst of revenge. Louise luckily able to be saved, Neil. . .[[spoiler:he died]].
** Same with Louise, Saji and his sister, Kinue are unpopular characters. However, after the unfortunate event that causing [[spoiler: Kinue’s death and Louise decide to break up their relationship for his dream after all her family member are killed, Saji become so lonely and live so hard to made his dream become true , he also blame Celestial Being for make him and Louise suffering.]]

** Anew Returner is the perfect example of the biggest TheWoobie from Innovator. She was designed to be a sleeper agents to know the secret of Celestial Being activity, and never intend to known about trust, relationship and love. Due to this, Anew bonded a romantic relationship with Lyle Dylandy When Revive release her true Innovator persona, she claim all her relationship with him are a ''lie''. However, after Lyle tell to her that he will accept whatever she was even though he know that she is Innovator, Anew wanted to rejoin his side. And what happen after that ? Ribbons take control over her mind, drive her to kill Lyle(Turn out that Ribbons wanted to kill both of them with Gaddess ''Self-Destruct system'' due to he no longer using Anew since her original task already over).

Lyle didn't shown his satisfied of his action, even though he success to kill him, there are nothing to change from him. His family already die, and will never return. Lyle actually reluctant if he able to kill his family murderer, especially when he remember Anew word about ''to understanding each other''. After remember her words,He understand that Ali CompleteMonster who do all his crime purely ForTheEvulz doesn't deserve to be pitied. Lyle also declare he will keep fighting as Gundam meister for future if the world keep blame or reject his existence.

And her quotes about how she was so desperately wanted to see him from her eyes since what only can she do at past was ''communicate'' with him via telepathy, since Marie used to be lost her body senses for unknown reason, resulting she suffer paralyzed.
