* The newspaper article clippings make it clear that, at least as far as the press is concerned, Robert taking over the company will destroy it, because he "lacks the aggressiveness and killer instinct that many believe to be the reason for his father's success." One of those articles also implies that Browning, Fischer's own godfather, doesn't want him in charge and doesn't think he can run the company well. Fischer's father is dying, he's about to take on a massive job that no one wants him to have, and whether it's true or not, the newspapers are suggesting that one of the only people that actually cares about him has no faith in him at all. No wonder his subconscious is so combative.
