** If you consider Hilda's first attempt at helping Tontu to be a way of distracting herself from (and perhaps even filling the void left by) Frida, it's only made worse -- once again, Hilda's efforts to do something nice for somebody else have blown up in both her and the person she was trying to help's faces, and it's evident how terrible she feels about it. The mood does get lightened to a degree when she's dropped off at camp, but still.

* A particular set of lyrics in "The Life of Hilda", which is already quite the sad song on its own, stand out:
--> "It's usually my fault"
--> "But I try to make it right"
--> "And I do"
--> "Most of the time"

** The fact that the episode ends on that note, with Hilda grounded for the first time in her life, is heartbreaking. And the last bit of dialogue for this episode is hard to hear. And by the time the credits started to roll, it's official: [[PlotMandatedFriendshipFailure Hilda and Johanna's relationship is severely strained]]. Props to Daisy Haggard for this delivery, especially since Johanna was close to tears in her last bit of dialogue.

Props to Daisy Haggard for this delivery, especially since Johanna was close to tears in her last bit of dialogue. Also if you looked closely, Johanna turns her face away near the end so Hilda wouldn't see her cry.

-->'''Johanna:''' [still crestfallen and close to tears] And you are not leaving this house without me until I say so. [as she says this, Johanna's face turns from anger and sorrow and concern]

** Also, fans of the show were understandably very upset with Johanna and Hilda for not communicating properly, and many thought they should have talked it out first. Hilda would still be grounded, but at least the two would have an understanding. Heck, many took a break from watching the show afterwards to take a breather.

Hilda's angry rant to Johanna doesn't happen in the episode. All Hilda did is shoot a death glare and walk off angrily while Johanna is shocked over what she just did.

* Meta Example: All the cartoons and kids shows that streamed on Netflix in 2020 had a happy ending for the season they are currently in or ended the series on a happy note, much like how Kipo, She-Ra, or Fuller House got their happy ending. Sadly, for this season, Hilda doesn't have one just yet, as of the pre-credit scene in the episode, minus the Christmas special that followed the season finale as an extended episode. But one good thing came out of it: The race has begun for Hilda and her family and friends to reunite before Erik Ahlberg finds and kills her. Anyone who has read "Hilda and The Mountain King" can easily imply where this is headed. Therefore, Hilda will be bound to get her happy ending soon.
