** After spending so much time in the pride ring with Millie, Sallie May ends up letting it slip how Millie hardly ever visits Wrath and that she misses her because of it. While Millie points out she was there during the Harvest Moon Festival, Sal points out that she was there as part of a job trip rather than just to visit family while also feeling she doesn't belong in the luxurious life Millie now has. Hearing this has Millie feel bad about neglecting her to where she apologizes.

Sallie May ends up conceding the point and the two promise to try and visit each other more.

!! Season 1
[[folder:Murder Family]]
* Mrs. Mayberry's backstory very much qualifies. She was once a sweet, loving schoolteacher who was kind to all her students before she witnessed her husband cheating on her. Killing him and trying to kill his mistress in a blind rage, she realizes too late that the massacre happened in front of her students, and wracked with guilt over subjecting them to such a thing, she took her own life without thinking about turning off the camera, further traumatizing them. To add insult to injury, the mistress, Martha, survived and Mrs. Mayberry had to watch from Hell as Martha was hailed as a "hero" while she became known as that crazy bitch that killed her husband.
** Another layer of salt in the wound: in the montage of people praising Martha as a "hero", who is included? ''Mrs. Mayberry's own students''. The same students she genuinely loved, despite her mental instability, ended up killing herself over, and ''were witnesses to what really happened''. No wonder she's so pissed about the whole thing.
---> '''Mrs. Mayberry:''' '''''SHE IS NOT A HERO!!!!!'''''
** [[BitterSweetEnding While she may have gotten her revenge, Mrs. Mayberry is still damned to Hell, and will be remembered only as a "crazy bitch" back on Earth.]]
** As she says in her rant, it does not matter how much of a good person you are or try to be. One slip up is all it takes for a soul to be barred from Heaven and suffer eternal damnation.
* At the end of the episode, Moxxie saves Millie and Blitzo from being killed by Martha. Just as they go to leave, he heads back and has the human world's police sent to the family's home. When he returns to the portal, he turns around... [[HopeSpot and sees the police already there]]. Sadly, any hope for justice gets dashed, [[YankTheDogsChain for the police helicopter suddenly fires a rocket to destroy the entire house and kill the rest of the family]]. Poor thing looks so defeated and broken up over it, especially during the celebration party.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Loo Loo Land]]
* Stolas' song for Octavia, which assures her that not even stars and planets last forever, and someday he'll be gone, but she'll be alright, and he'll always be with her. Even Stolas himself is tearing up by the end.
--> ''And when Creation goes to die ''\\
''You can find me in the sky''\\
''Upon the last day''\\
''And you will be okay...''
** In the same song, Stolas laments his crumbling marriage due to Stella's coldness, but he endures it all for his daughter.
---> ''I used to think that I was bold''\\
''I used to think love would be fun''\\
''Now all my stories have been told''\\
''Except for one...''
* Octavia, Stolas' daughter, [[AwfulWeddedLife has to witness her parents' fights]] after her mom discovered that Stolas cheated on her with an ''imp'' of all creatures of hell. As many children of failing marriages are, she's both mad at her dad for ruining her family and making "home not feel like home anymore", but she's also scared her dad will just abandon her to run away with Blitzo and once she understood that her dad was really unhappy in his marriage she couldn't be angry with him anymore.
* When Octavia overhears her mother's violent outbursts, her first reaction is to instinctively turn her music volume up to drown out the noise. Even more tragic is that Stella doesn't even acknowledge her daughter's presence as she keeps throwing things at Stolas.
* Seeing how traumatized and frightened young Octavia is of Fizzarolli. Her response to seeing his tent after many years is an indicator that she may still be a bit afraid of him. It's also quite sad that Stolas thought she cried tears of happiness when the flashback indicates otherwise.
* Before their actual fight, Blitzo and Fizzarolli get into a verbal altercation. Fizzarolli points out that, while he may just be a robotic imitation of the real thing, people still ''love'' him, and then he tauntingly asks Blitzo if anyone loves ''him''. Blitzo says "no" in a quick and succinct tone, one that is said so completely casually and matter-of-fact that it's... kind of sad.
** Especially so considering this is Blitzo - he openly calls his employees his family, but clearly he doesn't think any of them actually love him, not even the one who's also his adopted daughter. This line also implies that he thinks Stolas, despite evidence to the contrary (especially on Instagram), doesn't love him either and is possibly just using Blitzo for sex in exchange for use of his grimoire.
** This interaction becomes ''[[HarsherInHindsight far]]'' more meaningful when one takes into account the reveal in “OZZIE’S” that Blitzo and the real Fizz were, if not in a relationship, then best friends, and it fell apart so hard that even Fizz’s robotic duplicates bear the grudge.
* Stolas' Loo Loo Land hat [[ExpressiveAccessory frowns when he takes it off]], almost as if it's alive and sad at being thrown away...or, alternatively, that it's reflecting his own emotions at the moment.
* Stolas and Octavia's conversation on the roundabout ride is just heart-wrenching to listen to. Many a teenager and their parents have had conversations like this one, which is [[RealismInducedHorror what makes it so scary and sad]]. It's where Octavia finally comes out to her dad just how much his behavior is hurting her, and where Stolas realizes [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone just what he's done to his daughter]].
--> '''Stolas:''' Octavia. I take it you are... not having fun?\\
'''Octavia:''' (''in tears'') I didn't even want to come here!\\
'''Stolas:''' I'm sorry sweetie, I... thought you loved it here.\\
'''Octavia:''' ''[sniffs back more tears]'' When I was a kid and my parents didn't hate each other. And my dad didn't flirt with a weird, red dickhead the entire time... \\
'''Stolas:''' I'm sorry, Via. I'm sorry for... everything happening right now. I know it's a lot... I-I should have listened.\\
'''Octavia:''' I just wanna go home... but home doesn't even feel like home anymore. ''[sobs into her sleeve]'' [[CallingTheOldManOut You ruined it]].\\
'''Stolas:''' You need to understand... [[AwfulWeddedLife your mother and I]], I just... I felt... [[JerkAss she's always been...]] I haven't been ha... [[MarriageOfConvenience We weren't in...]] ''[trails off again, looking very close to tears]'' [[RealisticDictionIsUnrealistic I-I'm sorry, I don't have the words]].\\
'''Octavia:''' [[DisappearedDad ...Are you gonna run off with him]]? And leave me behind? [[PleaseDontLeaveMe Go away where I can't find you?]]\\
'''Stolas:''' What? No! ''[pulls her into a hug]'' [[GoodParents No, no, never. I'd never do that. Never.]] ''(beat)'' I think it's time to leave this place. You were right; you ''are'' too old for it, anyway.
** It's worth noting in Stolas and Octavia's talk near the end that the former can't quite explain ''why'' things went so wrong between him and his wife. He begins to say he hasn't been happy, and from the sounds of it, they never loved each other to begin with, but he just can't get the words out.
** Becomes ''much'' HarsherInHindsight when following the events of ''The Circus'', where we see that Stolas was [[LikeFatherLikeSon very much like Octavia when he was younger]], with the implication being that his marriage to Stella [[BrokenBird completely sucked the life out of him]].
** It also makes Stolas' attempt to explain things hard to watch, as the viewer realizes that the reason, he "didn't have the words" was because, despite Stella's awful treatment of him, he couldn't bring himself to tell Octavia the truth. Stolas did everything he could to hide the worst aspects of their marriage from their daughter, and he didn't want to shatter the illusion that they were once happy.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Spring Broken]]
* Loona almost calling Blitzo "dad", then pulling a VerbalBackspace.
* While flirting with Vortex, [[FriendlessBackground Loona confesses to not having any friends]].
* Blitzo turning around and finding that Loona has disappeared. While it's PlayedForLaughs, it's hard to ignore the panic in his voice.
--> '''Blitzo:''' ''WHERE'S MY BABY??!!''
** If the shout didn't get you, the argument between Loona and Blitzo on the beach probably will. As much of an asshole that Blitzo is, hearing Loona yell at him that [[YoureNotMyFather he's not her real dad]] actually hurts his feelings.
-->'''Loona:''' Fuck, Blitz! Why can't you stay out of my face for, like, five minutes?!\\
'''Blitzo:''' Because I adopted you! And that should mean something!\\
'''Loona:''' Oh, what does it matter?! You're not my real dad! I was almost eighteen!\\
'''Blitzo:''' It still counts!\\
'''Loona:''' Well, it shouldn't! [[UngratefulBastard I didn't need you then, asshole!]] I don't now!\\
''(Blitzo and Loona look away from each other, grimacing with their arms folded. Blitzo looks back at Loona, genuinely upset)''
** Even Vortex seems to briefly feel bad for Blitzo afterwards, despite Blitzo's hostile attitude towards him and his boss.
** What's more is that unlike Stolas and Octavia, Blitzo and Loona don't exactly reconcile by the end of the episode. Loona does mention that Blitzo will "get over it", but it's still quite sad.
* When Loona learns that Vortex already has a girlfriend, while grateful he invited her to a party, she still looks incredibly disappointed. The [[StepfordSmiler whimpering noise she makes despite smiling]] immediately after he says that makes it even sadder.
* When Blitzo confronts Verosika in the recording studio she is shown to have a tattoo, a heart with the name "Blitz" written inside of it. Except now it has a big cross over it. It seems likely that she loved Blitzo, only for him to break her heart by stealing from her. That fact that Blitzo is so desperate to be loved and believes that no one in his life does love him makes it even sadder. He had someone that truly loved him and through his own self sabotaging antics turned that person into a bitter enemy.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:C.H.E.R.U.B]]
* The concerned paramedics assessing Loopty in the flashback after getting him out of the machine are saddened to find the machine had killed him before they arrived.
* C.H.E.R.U.B not only failing to protect Lyle, who ends up in Hell anyway, but getting kicked out of Heaven. While they weren't always the most pleasant bunch and were trying to protect the life of a person who was definitely not good, being completely exiled and prevented from ever returning home is a bit of an excessive and disheartening punishment. Deerie being a complete bitch about their building despair makes the situation even more saddening.
** Cletus looks and sounds ''exactly'' like a crying infant when the portal to Heaven closes right in his face. The moment isn't even undercut by a joke or declaring revenge against I.M.P-- the last we see of Cletus is him sobbing his eyes out.
** It gets worse, mixed in with a little FridgeHorror -- if the rest of Heaven is as unforgiving and draconian in its standards and punishments, you have to wonder if [[WebAnimation/HazbinHotel Charlie's dream]] has ''any'' hope of becoming reality, or if damnation and an annual cleansing is all she can hope for regarding her subjects in Hell... although if anyone's up to the task of fixing two broken systems as opposed to just one, it's Charlie.
* Lyle actually wonders what being in love would feel like, hoping it would be quite nice, but Blitzo ruins the dream by proving that no one would ''ever'' date someone as ugly and old as him, which destroys his HopeSpot. This scene tugs at the heart of any viewer who fears they will never find love and will either have to marry someone they don't like or, more poignantly, die old and alone.
** Worse, Lyle has only been old and gross for less than 24 hours. As a young man he might have had some success in finding love, but the chance was stolen from him forever in less than a minute.
* People in Hell can pick up TV from Heaven. Imagine, stuck in Hell forever, but able to at least see what it's like in Heaven, and never able to get there to experience it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Harvest Moon Festival]]
* When Blitzo calls Loona his daughter, she's quick to add that she's only his daughter on paper.
* Moxxie's attempts to prove himself to Millie's family don't go so well, and he finds himself upstaged by Striker at every turn. And it doesn't help matters when Blitzo considers hiring Striker on, further rendering him irrelevant.
** In the middle of his victory song, Striker tells Moxxie to go fuck himself. Moxxie glares back in response, but the tears in his eyes make it clear that the insult stung.
** Overall, the episode is a bit of a {{Deconstruction}} of the ExtremeDoormat and AlwaysSomeoneBetter tropes; as it turns out, being the series' CosmicPlaything and upstaged at every turn is not healthy for one's psyche and self-esteem, no matter how much slapstick comedy you pile on. By the middle of the episode poor Moxxie was at risk of being rendered ''completely redundant'' in I.M.P and you can tell he's taking it hard.
* Millie being wounded by a bear trap when Striker imprisons her and Moxxie. You can tell the latter's worried sick about her.
* While he was mostly playing it up to trick Striker during the whole WeCanRuleTogether speech, the doubtful look on Blitzo's face suggests that his foe's narrative -- namely, that he debases himself for a rich noble who thinks of him as a toy, all for the sake of killing on behalf of disgruntled former humans who don't think much of him -- stuck with him.
** And the thing is - Striker [[VillainHasAPoint isn't wrong.]] When Stolas isn't openly lusting after Blitzo, he's talking down to him, treating him like a child and calling him demeaning nicknames, even when around other people. While Stolas does care for Blitzo, he clearly doesn't treat him as an equal, and Blitzo is understandably resentful, despite benefiting from their "relationship."
* TheReveal that Stella hates Stolas so much for his infidelity that she'd ''hire an assassin'' to try and have him killed.
** There are two possibilities for Stolas' reaction:
*** Blink and you'll miss it, but Stolas seems to be taking it in stride as he eats dinner...only to pause and blink at Stella. You can almost hear his mind going, "wait, what?"
*** Or alternatively (as suggested on several other pages here) this has happened to Stolas before, he knows it, and he knows he's powerless to stop it. The utter loneliness and emptiness in his life that would imply is just heartbreaking.
** Even worse is the fact that Octavia is there, wearing headphones and oblivious to it all.
*** Considering how close Stolas and Octavia are, it's very sad to see that Stella apparently has no qualms about robbing her own daughter of her beloved father.
*** Made even worse when you go through Octavia's Instagram and see how close she and Stella are. If Stella manages to go through with this, it will utterly destroy her.
*** And then remember back in Loo Loo Land where Octavia's greatest fear seemed to be the possibility of losing her dad and realize that '' her own mother is trying to make that fear a reality.''
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Truth Seekers]]
* He might not be pleasant or particularly professional in his job, but Agent One is seriously upset to be continually reminded that his fat mom is dead.
* When Loona is forced to close the portal after Blitzo and Moxxie get captured, Millie starts pounding at the wall where the portal used to be, sobbing in grief and rage, emitting feral, animalistic chittering noises we've never before heard her make. All the poor girl can do is sink to floor and whimper in despair.
** It's clear that Loona feels bad for Millie, but she has no idea what to do or say to comfort her.
** Millie almost breaks down again when Loona ''does'' open the portal...only to find that the boys are already gone. Thankfully, Loona steps in and gets on their trail before she can sink too far.
* While gassed with truth serum, Blitzo's segment of the musical number looks like a bad acid trip, with swirling imagery and the literal demons of his past taunting him over how, despite all his shitty behavior, [[IJustWantToBeLoved he just wants somebody to love him]]. But because of his own toxic tendencies, images of self-worth and inability to understand intimacy, he's afraid he'll get hurt and ends up pushing people away before it might come to that. They outright ask him:
-->''[[ArmorPiercingQuestion Are you afraid to love people, Blitzy?]]''
** The hallucination of Verosika should get special mention. She's covered in mud, her mascara is [[YourMakeupIsRunning dripping down her face]], and her beauty mark has taken the shape of a broken heart. And unlike the hallucinations of Fizzarolli and Striker, who loom menacingly over him, and Stolas who drags him in with chains, she crawls towards him and almost tenderly cradles his face. She mentions how Blitzo pushes away anyone who gets close until they resent him. It's possible that Verosika genuinely loved him, and he knows that he sabotaged their relationship out of his own insecurity.
** The reveal of how Blitzo views his relationship with Stolas. Stolas appears as a shining figure being fanned by silhouettes of Blitzo, and Blitzo attempts to ascend his ornate staircase, only to be knocked down and forced to crawl up to Stolas on his hands and knees; as he draws near, he's bound with gilded chains and dragged in. For all that they get along fine in the bedroom, it paints a deeply sad picture of their dynamic outside of it.
** This episode reveals that Blitzo's feelings for Stolas are tragically complicated. It's not entirely clear whether he harbors some feelings for Stolas, ''wants'' to love him, simply finds him sexy, or something else altogether, but whatever the case, he's all too aware of the power imbalance in their relationship. However, he can't simply leave, either, and not just because of the grimoire. Blitzo is so desperate for love and validation that he's willing to take whatever he can get, even if it's from someone who treats him with little to no respect. Essentially...he's trapped.
** Notice that out of all the hallucinations, Stolas is the only one that appears completely unchanged from his real-life counterpart. And as Blitzo ascends the staircase, the grime and sludge are cleaned away and his clown costume is replaced with his normal attire. Even with his neck and limbs wrapped in chains, Blitzo either sees his relationship with Stolas as the most loving and normal he's had thus far, his only escape from the life he was living, or a sordid mixture of both.
** The fact that in the previous episode, Striker pointed out to Blitzo that Stolas treats him like a plaything. In this episode, Stolas refers to Blitzo as his "impish little plaything," right in front of him.
** This episode also puts Blitzo's hatred of Robofizz in a new light--according to the imaginary Robofizz, Blitzo's short-lived time as a comedian was his attempt at doing a "solo act" that crashed and burned. On top of his simultaneous craving for and fear of love, Blitzo seems to believe that he can't succeed on his own. Blitzo also has posters in the office of what appears to be a circus act that he and his sisters used to perform together--making one wonder if he voluntarily left that to try to work alone and failed, or if something made the three siblings grow apart.
** Just as the truth serum leaks in, Blitzo snaps at Moxxie about how annoyed he is with his and Millie's lovey-dovey relationship, despite his simultaneous obsession with it as seen in the pilot. Moxxie's deduction that Blitzo is jealous of them is right-on-the-nose, but that jealousy seems to be darker and angrier than Blitzo let on.
** At the very end of Blitzo's half of the hallucination, he is taunted by all the imagined figure's voices, saying the same thing to him over and over, one after another. The thing that might just be Blitzo's deepest fear:
--->"'''You're going to die alone, Blitzo!'''"\\

** Just the contrast between Moxxie and Blitzo's hallucinations in general is heartrending in itself. For Moxxie, he's sent to an outright {{Disneyesque}} musical number where, while Blitzo still gets under his skin and challenges him, the two are ultimately able to finish a duet together and come to a sweet, hopeful resolution. But this is what ''Moxxie'' saw - Blitzo's is a twisted, abstract sequence with a dark rock track where even Moxxie manifests as a voice of his own fears and tells him he's going to die alone, with it ending on him being consumed by a storm of constricting golden feathers while ''his screaming'' blends into the music. It's such a hard contrast that highlights just how poisonous and ''afraid'' Blitzo feels next to someone like Moxxie, who is ultimately in a happy, stable and mutually loving marriage.
* A small one, but when Millie unties the boys and goes to give Moxxie a cuddle, Blitzo is shown briefly holding his arms out as if waiting for a hug too.... but it never comes.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:OZZIE'S]]
* Blitzo is so lonely that he obsessively follows Moxxie and Millie around on their ''anniversary''.
* Stolas sitting at home alone in the dark, eating cereal at night and watching a hella-novella. The guy doesn't have much going on in his life, neither his wife nor daughter are anywhere to be seen. At one point he notes that Octavia is with her mother that weekend.
** Stolas's general demeanor, which is markedly more frantic than we've ever seen him before, toeing the line of pathetic. He overdresses because he wanted to "look a little nicer for [Blitzo]", fumbles over his words, orders three different kinds of alcohol. When Blitzo calls him in the first place, he chokes on his cereal and can't scramble for the phone fast enough. One gets the sense that he ''really'' needs for this to happen.
** It's even more sad when you remember that Blitzo only invited Stolas out so he could intrude on Moxxie and Millie's anniversary date, especially considering that Stolas was genuinely happy that Blitzo asked him out.
* Moxxie's heartwarming love song to Millie being hijacked and mocked by Fizzarolli and Asmodeus, making him a laughing-stock in the club for singing about love in a place devoted to lust. Rolls around to awesome when Millie knocks Fizz on his ass and lets Moxxie finish the song, though -- and judging from the audience reaction, the crowd actually likes it! While they do get kicked out of the club (due to Millie smacking Fizz with the guitar), its clear they had a good night.
* A comparatively smaller one, but Asmodeus tearfully cradling Fizzarolli when Millie knocks him down. The guy's got zero business heckling anyone else about being sappily in love.
* Blitzo getting a musical TheReasonYouSuck speech from both Fizzarolli and Verosika who tell him his love life is "a pile of shit" and that he was a bad boyfriend respectively. And then Ozzie gets in on the action and calls out Stolas in front of everyone for being on a date with an Imp, and for seemingly giving up his "smoking hot" wife and daughter for a cheap thrill with a lower being. Both of them are humiliated on what was at first a nice, if awkward, date.
** Asmodeus summons images of Stella and Octavia who glare at Stolas with contempt. Stolas looks shocked at Stella, but absolutely crestfallen at Octavia. It's quite clear whose rejection hurts more.
** A quick moment but when Asmodeus walks over to the table Stolas tries to run away before Ozzie pulls him back into his chair. It's heartbreaking that his first response when confronted by his peers about his relationship with Blitzo is to run away. If he hadn't been stopped he would have just left Blitzo there in an even worse situation than before.
** There's a moment when Blitzo looks to Stolas desperately, almost like he's hoping Stolas will stand up for him like he did back on Earth. Instead, Stolas pushes his face into the menu out of embarrassment. The hurt expression on Blitzo's face and how he pulls away from Stolas's touch afterwards show just how betrayed Blitzo felt, and its likely ''this'' was the moment Blitzo came to the conclusion that he ''was'' just a "plaything" of the Demon Prince and would never be anything more.
** Likewise, Blitzo doesn't do anything to defend Stolas when the latter was being harassed either. This is in stark contrast to how Millie breaks a guitar over Fizz's head to let Moxxie finish singing, not caring for how Asmodeus might retaliate. The entire scene serves to contrast Moxxie and Millie against Blitzo and Stolas. It's pretty clear from Blitzo's uncomfortable obsession with Moxxie and Millie's relationship that he desperately craves that kind of genuine, loving relationship; it is equally clear that Blitzo and Stolas don't have that.
** There's some of this for Verosika as well here, following up on the previous episode's implications. As she sings about Blitzo, it becomes even clearer about how she was ''very'' hurt by whatever happened in their relationship. After pointing out what a selfish, unreciprocal lover he was, she describes him as "a reckless, heartbreaking freak".
*** Adding to this is that Verosika, despite getting to chew out her ex in a ''much'' better fashion than in "Spring Broken", still doesn't leave the episode on a positive note as she's last seen sulkily swirling a wine glass and taking a drink while Moxxie sings the rest of his love song.
* The initial parts of the date: Blitzo initially ignores Stolas to spy on M&M with binoculars, and Stolas keeps trying to get his attention. From either perspective it's pretty sad: Stolas was excited for his date only to seemingly find Blitzo not paying him any attention, and Blitzo presumably thought Stolas wouldn't care to even bother talking with him so long as he paid off Stolas with some kind of sexual activity before the end of the night. It gets sadder when Stolas' persistent attempts to talk to Blitzo surprise him - simple questions like 'how was your day?' catch Blitzo off guard. If it hadn't been for the two of them getting thoroughly dressed down by Verosika, Fizzarolli and Asmodeus, the date could have gone much better and been a turning point for Stolas to show Blitzo he is interested in him for more than just sex (though likely with a different set of roadbumps, but still...)
* Stolas tries to compromise with Blitzo's rebuttal by offering to do things with him that don't involve sex, like talking, cuddling or watching a movie. His tone of voice as he tries to bargain almost comes across as ''pleading.''
* Blitzo finally telling Stolas that he believes the Goetia Demon only views him as somebody to have sex with him in a fragile tone, driving off and leaving Stolas sitting on the steps of his manor, tearing up, alone and head in his hands.
** Blitzo telling Stolas point blank why he believes this to be the case; namely that Stolas makes it ''very'' clear every time they interact that all he's interested in is sex. And the worst part is, Blitzo isn't wrong. Stolas, for as long as Blitzo has known him, has [[AmIJustAToyToYou consistently treated Blitzo like a personal sex toy]]. This episode marks the first time he's ever shown a serious, straightforward interest in romance. Thus, Blitzo has zero reason to believe that the invitation from Stolas isn't just more of the same, and thus zero reason to believe he can be vulnerable or safe around him. Stolas may actually want Blitzo (his reaction to the hella-novella certainly implies he does), but it's too little too late, and in the end, Stolas can only sit alone, neck-deep in the consequences of his own behavior.
** When Stolas leans down to speak to him, Blitz does a small motion of dragging his hand over his face in what implies he's anticipating having to find a way to refuse spending the night with Stolas. Stolas initially inviting him in for wine likely reinforced his suspicions, but it's depressing how certain he is that even Stolas saying he enjoyed spending time with him is all in the service of using Blitz for his body.
** Thanks to Brandon's gut-wrenching performance, it's clear throughout the entire scene in the van that Blitzo is doing everything he can to not ''break down in tears''. He actually has to take a second to [[TryingNottoCry re-compose himself]] in the middle of his initial refusal of Stolas's offer before continuing. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice it didn't quite work. His ReasonYouSuckSpeech is made even more painful because his voice is audibly breaking.
* The ending. Not even a glint of happiness here; it's a full-fledged DownerEnding.
** When Blitzo first enters his apartment, there are multiple pictures of people he cares for; Loona, Moxxie, Millie and even one picture of his sister, Barbie. Some of the photos even feature Blitzo himself... except [[RemovedFromThePicture his face is scribbled out, almost in an attempt to remove him from them]]. It's very likely that it was ''Blitzo himself'' who removed his face from these photos, implying that he either doesn't feel like he deserves the company of the loved ones he has, or even that he's the only one in the pictures that he harbors no love for.
** A Youtube reviewer put it best:
---> “He ''really'' does hate himself. And they're giving us such a… ''sad'' background clue that he's put everything he loves around him… and made sure to remove himself from all of it.”
** Blitzo looking through his phone is heartwarming at first, showing a picture of him and Stolas in bed, then him photobombing Moxxie and Millie, then a picture of the day he hired Moxxie at I.M.P, and a picture of him and Loona with her adoption certificate. But it quickly turns heart-breaking as the next picture is himself and Verosika, smiling with their arms around each other and dressed up for a night out, then a younger Blitzo and Fizzarolli together as teenagers looking like a couple, and then again as little kids practicing being clowns together with big smiles on their faces. His relationship with his childhood friend and potential first boyfriend and his ex-girlfriend used to be so much better before both went downhill.
** The final photo is a young Blitz and Barbie Wire and Tilla, a happy family photo that makes Blitz burst into BrokenTears and [[TroubledFetalPosition curl up into a pillow]].
** There's also Blitzo's stunned expression when he comes across the final photo. It's almost like he forgot it was in his phone. He's so shaken by the picture that he just breaks.
** The last thing we hear before the end card is Blitzo's quiet, broken sobbing.
** Also, worth noting that while Blitzo's mother and sister are there, his father is nowhere to be seen. Recall that in the pilot, Blitzo implies that his relationship with his father is strained at ''best''...
** And to highlight how much of a DownerEnding the episode is, it ends on a somber music-box like piece through the credits as opposed to a high energy song like previous episodes had.

[[folder:Queen Bee]]
* Loona isn't used to going to parties and she suffers from nerves around crowds. She outright calls Blitzo to take her home.
* It's easy to see why Loona would be [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter a bit put off]] after meeting Tex's girlfriend, Bee. As in Beelzebub. Not only is she a member of royalty as one of the Seven Deadly Sins, but she's also incredibly sweet, [[HardDrinkingPartyGirl fun]], friendly, powerful, and colorful. Even her clothing is similar in design to Loona's... only brighter and reminiscent of an acid trip. There's just no competition.
* Blitzo's role in this episode. After coming to the party to take Loona home, he is convinced to stick around and, desperate to numb himself from the pain of the events of the previous episode, ends up downing an ''extremely'' large amount of Bee’s mead and getting involved in an orgy. After he’s finally taken away from the party by Loona and brought back to their apartment, he drunkenly admits he’s had “a really shitty day” and has this to say:
-->'''Blitz:''' ''Fuck,'' Fizz was ''right''…I’m gonna [[DyingAlone die alone,]] aren't I? Just a wrinkly, old, withered… ''waste.'' Will you be there, Loony?
** Also, at the end of the episode, Blitzo is mentioning Millie, Moxxie and Stolas regretfully in his drunken mumbling.
* At first Loona didn't want to check up on her adopted dad at first as Vortex and Bee asked her to, justifying it as Blitzo being kind of a mess all the time and she knows him better. The only reason that she backed down and actually checked up on Blitzo was her seeing Vortex's sad reaction to her and Bee’s escalating argument.
* A blink-and-you-miss-it example, but poor Dennis (the imp Blitzo was making out with) looks ''[[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FzdNdnPWYAEy-Rm.jpg heartbroken]]'' when Blitzo rejects him [[DisproportionateRetribution due to his name]].

!!Season 2
[[folder:The Circus]]
* Paimon apparently has lots of kids that he barely spends any time with, to the point that he barely remembers Stolas's ''name'' without prompting. He can't even be bothered to go to the circus in person with his son to cheer him up, having his imp butler do it instead while watching through a magic mirror.
** Paimon mentions that Stolas has no friends, something which Stolas later confirms to Blitzo. Since we don't see any of Stolas's other siblings celebrate his birthday or play with him, it doesn't paint the rosiest picture of Stolas's relationship with the rest of his family. And the only reason Paimon decides to ''buy'' Blitzo as Stolas's playmate is, so he doesn't have to deal with Stolas's tears.
** Stolas's crestfallen expression when Blitzo complains that his books are boring, especially since Stolas was so excited to talk about them. The first friend the poor kid's ever had doesn't even care to know about his interests.
* Blitzo's own childhood. Despite having a sleazy jackass for a father, he was so full of childish glee and hopes for the future, with dreams about owning his own circus and having his own office and being able to live life on his terms. In the present, well...let's just say Blitzo's dreams haven't really worked out. Sure, he does have his own office, but he doesn't own the building like he wanted. He gets to indulge in his acrobatic side while he kills people, but other than Moxxie, Millie and Loona, no one is around to appreciate his skills, and the three of them have their own preoccupations. And yes, he might work freelance, so he gets to take the jobs he wants, but he's limited because of his need for access to Stolas' Grimoire. He might be allowed to keep it most of the time, but he knows full well that this is all dependent on Stolas being so love and affection-starved that he keeps Blitzo around to have sex within repayment for the book. His business is completely dependent on Stolas' good graces, and considering their adult relationship began with him trying to steal the Grimoire, knows that Stolas could, at any time, take the Grimoire back, shutting I.M.P. down for good.
** Earlier on, Blitzo's father, Cash, accepts a comically low payment for Blitzo to spend the day as Stolas' friend. While Stolas didn't know about this, it's another reminder of the class divide between the two -- Paimon basically buys Blitzo's time for his son to have a friend, regardless of what Blitzo feels. Sure enough, Blitzo is initially bored and upset about being pressured into stealing by his father, but eventually starts to enjoy his made-up game with Stolas.
** A subtle one: when Blitzo's dad is trying to convince him to steal from the Goetia family, he asks his son "Don't you wanna help me and your mama out?", to which Blitzo responds "Of ''course'' I wanna help Mama!" This could indicate that Blitzo's mother was dealing with something that was affecting her health.
* Blitzo and Fizz playing with their balloon horses is a bit harder to watch when taking into account how Blitzo's green horse has amputated legs after a bloody accident... and Fizz has mechanical limbs in the present.
* As it turns out, Stolas only married Stella [[ArrangedMarriage because his father Paimon arranged it]] in the hopes that Stolas would father a powerful new addition to the family. As this episode shows, their marriage was absolutely ''miserable'', to the point that Stella threw parties about how ''they hadn't divorced yet'' and talks trash about him to her friends ''[[ImStandingRightHere while he's in earshot]]''. While Stella gossips with her friends, she tells them how terrible in bed Stolas was, and how he just blankly stared at the ceiling while she did all of the work. She then gloats how happy she was that at least an egg popped out of her so she didn't have to pretend like she wanted to fuck Stolas. All Stolas can do is glower and order something stronger than wine to calm himself.
** Special mention to the part where Stella merely refers to Octavia as "an egg", further hinting at the neglectful nature of Stella's relationship to her own daughter ''at best'' and viewing her as little more than a necessity to the family at worst.
** Stolas's first reaction to seeing Stella's picture, showing her violently strangling a dog after presumably hurting another one beforehand, and being told he's to marry her is to start bawling. What makes it worse is that Paimon does not at all care about his crying and just tells him to quite literally stop being a bitch. It is very obvious that Paimon treated Stolas with very little regard for his happiness - unsurprising given how many kids he has and how he clearly sees them as heirs to the Goetia family and nothing more.
* At the same party, Stolas is so desperate for emotional connection that, when he met Blitzo again, he convinced himself that the imp was sneaking into his room to seduce him. Blitzo, who hadn't seen him in ''years'' and was mostly after the book, took advantage of this - not realizing Stolas was after a genuine ChildhoodFriendRomance and leading to the collapse we saw in "OZZIE'S".
** It's also revealed that Blitzo was planning on just tying up Stolas so he didn't see him steal the book...then changed his mind and decided to give Stolas a fun night after discovering just how ''empty'' Stolas' life was, looking genuinely guilty upon realizing what kind of emotional damage that abandoning someone in makeshift BDSM would do to him. Especially someone who, in that bondage, called Blitzo his first ever friend. "OZZIE'S" has made it very clear that Blitzo might put on a front for everyone else, but I.M.P is his attempt at creating a family "circus", and he doesn't actually have very many friends of his own, having pushed his old friends away years ago (Fizzarolli, Verosika and even kept Stolas at arm's length as a child), and continuing the pattern with Moxxie and Stolas.
* As the two walk to Stolas's chambers, Blitzo looks up to see the family portraits. With Stolas and his father, Stolas holds an imposing figure while also holding the mirror where Paimon can look through. With Stolas and Stella, the two are obviously annoyed at having to be anywhere near each other. The only portrait where Stolas is genuinely smiling is with him and a child Octavia. His father can't be bothered to actually physically stand next to Stolas for what appears to be an important moment in his life, while Stella and him are just plain miserable next to each other. Even Blitzo seems to realize that the only bright spot in Stolas' upper crust life is his daughter.
* A smaller detail that might be missed on the first watchthrough but it should be noted that Stolas is taking happy pills, or what likely is antidepressants, straight in the morning when he wakes up whilst being married to Stella which suggests that he's had struggles with depression, possibly during the entirety of his marriage Stella. Not only that but it's implied that Stolas might also be DrowningHisSorrows a lot of time when weathering Stella's emotional abuse.
* Stolas takes a moment to check the photos on his phone and finally comes to the sad realization that Blitzo never looked happy to be with him in a single one.
* If you listen to the song "Stolas Sings", you'll realize this has been his leitmotif throughout the series. This shows that the owl demon has been carrying this burdensome baggage for years and it's destroying him.
* By episode's end, back in the present, Stolas is very much distraught over what his life has become, singing a melancholy song to best reflect on how everything's gone so wrong...[[MomentKiller and then Stella walks in]], [[NoSympathy completely unsympathetic to her husband's brooding]] and demanding he shut up already.
** As for ''why'' Stella's still hanging around the mansion at this point, well...if her behavior at the parties in the past didn't make it clear, [[KickTheDog she likes to see him suffer]].
** Stolas can't even bring himself to feel guilty about cheating on her, because he knows that he didn't actually hurt her - at worst her pride was wounded, and his affair has become just one more thing that Stella can use to torment him.
* Even if their marriage was arranged, even if he wasn't at ''all'' happy, even if he only tried to preserve it for the sake of Octavia's home life, Stolas has had enough. As of this episode, Stolas demands a divorce.
--> '''Stolas:''' I tried, so many years to make it comfortable for us! To have this family, but it was never enough! The ''only'' reason I have endured your constant insults and cruelty, was for that girl to have a normal life!
** Stella's reaction doesn't make it much better. Not only is she more upset about her stung pride than anything else, she takes a vicious satisfaction in pointing out that Stolas has pretty much ruined his own reputation by now, and that he'll be punished for it.
** Stella also moves to try to physically abuse Stolas for demanding a divorce and standing up to her, the fact he catches her hand so quickly as she tries to slap him suggests that she likely has physically abused him before. And given how desperate he's always been to give Octavia a normal life, he probably only barely defended himself in the past. Affection starved is right.
* Stolas only endured living with Stella in an attempt at giving Octavia a normal life. As "Loo Loo Land" shows, he failed that task so badly that Octavia is thinking that ''[[{{Irony}} he]]'' is the one who ruined her home life.
** Alternatively, you could read that as Stolas having done an excellent job in the past, having given Octavia a home life that was free from all this drama until he couldn't take the loneliness anymore. It's clear from "Loo Loo Land" that Octavia didn't have any idea how fraught her parents' marriage was before Stolas and Blitzo had sex.
* Stolas and Blitzo's relationship seem to have been very much headed for doom from the beginning, and it's clear that both Blitzo and Stolas has never had a healthy and meaningful relationship with anyone except maybe Octavia for Stolas and M&M and Loona for Blitzo, and even those relationships are fraught. It probably isn't a coincidence that both Blitzo and Stolas seem to be trying to make up for their horrible fathers by being better dads/dad figures to the people in their care. Stolas has been so deprived of love and affection for his whole life, other than Octavia, that he has no idea how real, non-transactional relationships work even though he desperately wants one. Blitzo's the same, though he's spent more time hiding that, which is understandable given that he's a trained clown that has to hide his emotions, and somehow, he's been made to believe that no one could ever really love him, he doesn't understand intimacy without a non-love motive behind it and he wants both very very badly. Not to mention, with Stolas being a very sheltered member of the Goetia family, he has a very poor understanding of power dynamics and as such, his "kinky fantasy" of favours for favours has real implications that he failed to consider, which may have permanently impacted his relationship with Blitzo. Only time will tell if they can make things right.

[[folder:Seeing Stars]]
* The episode starts with a young Octavia being promised by her father that they were going to see a meteor shower that only happens once every thousand years. Despite now being a TroubledTeen, Octavia was still looking forward to seeing the meteor shower with her father. Sadly, the day arrives when Stolas is busy arguing with Stella over their incoming divorce. Realizing that her father forgot his promise, Octavia runs out.
* Octavia generally has a miserable time in L.A. All her attempts to find a place to see the meteor shower are in vain and she's gawked at for her appearance. Then when she finally thinks she's found a good spot at the observatory, there's too much smog and light pollution to even see the stars.
* Blitzo performing for the first time since the circus. The only reason he gets a laugh out of the audience, save for Stolas, is because of the prompters telling the audience to do so, leaving him unaware and confident he's finally getting the attention he's craved.
* Stolas reacting with horror and fear upon learning that Octavia ran off to the human realm. In the previous scene he went full PapaWolf by turning into his real form. The next scene has him distraught at what happened.
* When Blitzo's TraumaButton gets pressed by a child actress asking in-character if she can adopt his character's dog, he flashes back to the day he adopted Loona; the "[[OrphanageOfFear adoption center]]" looks like a cross between a run-down dog pound and a JuvenileHell, with most of the hellhounds Blitzo sees looking malnourished and/or deformed. When he sees Loona, her cellmate is threatening her with a ''bloody nail bat'' before she flings him at the bars, growling and curling up in a TroubledFetalPosition. Then she starts '''''crying''''', [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything looking more like a frightened, feral dog than anything]]. The social worker's indifferent description of her in her emotionally dead tone doesn't help, saying all this [[ImStandingRightHere directly in front of Loona's cell]], and only highlights how lonely Loona's life had been for almost eighteen years:
-->"Oh, her? That’s just Loona. What a nightmare. Serious attitude problems. She’ll be out of hair next month when she ages out. Good riddance if you ask me. She’ll never amount to anything much."
** Loona's living space gets more tragic the longer you look at it. The back and side walls are covered in tally marks scratched into the tile. And there's a typical "Hang in there!" poster ripped with obvious claw marks, making it clear Loona had long given up hope of being adopted into a family.
** There are some drawings on the walls of Loona with storm clouds above her head and a giant version of her stomping on a city. Either they were drawn by Loona in which case they show just how frustrated and fed up with the world she has become over the years, or they were drawn by the other hellhound kids who only see her as a vicious monster.
** The fact that this place is essentially a pound and not an adoption place paints Loona's situation as much grimmer. They're not treated as individuals but as animals and would normally just leave as rescued dogs. When the social worker mentions that Loona will age out it's implied that it doesn't mean that she's exactly leaving safe & sound.
*** You can actually see that Loona takes a look at her tally marks, and as it lines up with the social worker's statement on her aging out, it wordlessly states Loona ''knows'' about this. Whether she's put to sleep or kicked out ownerless, it's a cloud of pitch-black dread she can do nothing about except countdown to.
* The social worker's assessment that Loona has an attitude problem, while not completely inaccurate, doesn't match up with what is shown. The younger hellhound is the one who tries to pick a fight with Loona and instead of continuing to attack him after she knocks him away, she instead tearfully tucks herself further into the corner. It makes you wonder how much of Loona's reputation as a problem child came from her simply defending herself.
** Emphasis goes to the fact that the social worker is watching with Blitzo as Loona is threatened. She doesn't step in to stop it nor does she acknowledge what's really going on.
** The social worker's dialogue makes it clear how hellhounds are treated in this world. They're not treated as sentient individuals; instead, they're valued for either being strong laborers or cute family pets. Loona is both strong and attractive, but being a self-actualized person with internal struggles and self-preservation instincts makes her ''undesirable''. For an imp -- one of the lowest creatures in Hell's hierarchy -- to be able to adopt a hellhound as a pet or servant shows that despite their strength and magic talent, they're seen and treated as even ''lower'' than imps.
** The social worker is herself a hellhound. This demon is being paid to literally sell out her own kind (if she's even paid at all...)
*** The social worker reminds one uncomfortably of a certain [[Film/DjangoUnchained house slave]]...
*** Judging from her apathetic demeanor and languid body language, it's not hard to see the social worker as someone who has long given up on fighting the unjust system of Hell. In other words, she's become the living embodiment of the saying "If you can't beat them, join them."
* A mix of Heartwarming and Tearjerker. When Loona finds Octavia at the observatory she's just sitting alone crying, upset that she couldn't even see the stars like she wanted. During her talk with Loona she reveals that she's upset because she thinks that Stolas hates Stella more than he loves her. The sad thing is that Stolas doesn't hate Stella more than he loves her at all. Loona even points this out by saying that it's more complicated than that, that dads have a lot of issues, and sometimes dads just make mistakes. Loona also points out that her dad is actively trying to find her at that very moment so it certainly isn't a case that he doesn't care.
** Full-blown tearjerker with Octavia's question about "Why does he hate [my mother] more than he loves me?" is one that resonates with a ''lot'' of children from broken homes.
* Near the end of her monologue towards Octavia, Loona briefly glances at her lighter, which has an I.M.P sticker on it, as she finally gets it to light, smiling softly as she comments that even though dads fuck up a lot, what matters most is that they're trying their best, obviously referring to not only Stolas, but Blitzo as well. Even though she definitely doesn't want to show it, it's pretty obvious that deep down, Loona loves Blitzo; and appreciates him in her life as a father figure.
** Also, a bit of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but when Stolas and Octavia reunite at the end of the episode, you can see Loona flash a loving smile at Blitzo; both when she smacks him in the face with the grimoire, and when he jokingly likens the oncoming fireworks to his acting career.
* Stolas finding out why Octavia was so upset. While he doesn't have the words for it, it’s obvious he's upset with himself that he forgot such an important promise to her. Considering how bad his own relationship with his own dad was it must have hit him hard that he accidentally forgot about her when fighting with Stella. He's so shaken when he realizes he'd forgotten his promise that he briefly gains WideEyesAndShrunkenIrises when he normally doesn't ''have'' irises.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Exes and Oohs]]
* Crimson was [[AbusiveParents seriously abusive to Moxxie as a child]], and the fact that he doesn't recognize Moxxie as bisexual or consider his marriage to Millie legitimate is just the tip of the iceberg. Not to mention that it's implied that he murdered his wife simply because she was a loving mother to their son trying to protect him from the gangster lifestyle.
** From what little is shown, Moxxie's mother was anything but happy being the wife of a mafia boss. She shies away from Crimson's touch at the dinner table and he [[DomesticAbuse slaps her during an argument they have.]] It's unclear if Crimson's treatment of Moxxie is what lead to the breakdown of their relationship or if things were already bad between them and the disagreement in how to parent their son was the final straw.
** Given the episode's focus on arranged marriages, it's likely that Moxxie's mother could have been forced into one herself.
** While she was able to shield Moxxie from Crimson's crimes at first, when she is gone, Crimson has Moxxie aid him to give the CementShoes treatment to some hapless victim. When the bagged imp starts whimpering, Moxxie becomes concerned before Crimson slams his head against the cement block. He then tearfully drops the weight and the imp to its doom. Crimson then implicitly threatens him with the same fate should he disobey, with a WhamShot of the shoe that Moxxie's mother was wearing resurfacing from the water. HarmfulToMinors doesn't begin to describe this whole ordeal.
*** While it's been subject to debate who the boat passenger is and what exactly they are saying before they're tossed overboard, they clearly call out Moxxie ''by name'' and tries to plead with him that [[IHaveAFamily they have a daughter]], making the moment sting much more.
*** This also paints Moxxie's initial hesitation towards killing Martha in "Murder Family" in a whole different light; he knew what it was like to have his mother cruelly and violently ripped away from him at a young age. He didn't want to do the same thing to Martha's children, who are also representative of what he could have become had Crimson been successful at grooming him into a cold-blooded killer. The fact that they died because all they ever knew was a life of violence forced upon them by their parents must have been ''very'' sobering for Moxxie.
---->'''Blitzo''': Don't be a puss, we're ''just'' killing a mother. We're ''ruining'' a family.
* It's implied that Chaz legitimately had feelings for Moxxie and he looks just as crushed as Moxxie when forced to abandon him. Him trying to force Moxxie into an ArrangedMarriage via conning his dad may have been, in his mind, the only way [[MyGreatestSecondChance he could get a second chance]].
** With that said, even if Chaz had feelings for Moxxie that didn't involve sex he was perfectly willing to destroy the life that Moxxie made for himself and both trap him into an unwanted marriage and put him back under his abusive father's control. Doesn't get more opposite of IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy than that.
* Moxxie upon getting thrown into prison looks completely destroyed. Chances are, he knew that his father wouldn't come to save him and his boyfriend just abandoned him. If it hadn't been for Blitzo being his cellmate, chances are he would have hit the DespairEventHorizon.
* After Moxxie kicks [[CasanovaWannabe Chaz]] out of his room, he simply slumps to the floor with his back against the door, and he finds himself so overwhelmed and stressed out that all he can do is hug his knees and start flat-out ''[[BrokenTears bawling.]]'' It’s made clear as day that not only being tricked into returning to his family’s estate, but Crimson [[ArrangedMarriage forcing him to marry Chaz]] and [[AbusiveParents threatening him with both his and Millie's deaths if he doesn't comply]], has opened up a ''lot'' of emotional wounds and trauma for Moxxie. The episode is basically one long string of BreakTheCutie moments for [[TheWoobie the poor man]], and it’s soul-crushing to watch.
* After he unsuccessfully tries to make a pass at Millie and Moxxie, Chaz goes to Blitzo’s room and makes a pass at him. At first, Blitzo refuses since he doesn’t want to betray his friends’ trust, but eventually gives in. The two are then heard having sex a few rooms away from Moxxie’s. Moxxie covers his face with a pillow and looks awfully sad, implying he’s hurt because Blitzo was completely aware of his past with Chaz, and still gave into having sex with him probably only a few hours later. Even if Blitzo was only doing it to see what M&M were into, it looks very disloyal in Moxxie’s eyes.
** It's worse than that. Moxxie isn't paying any attention to them at all - he's too busy flipping through photos from his wedding with Millie. Remember, this is just hours after Crimson ordered him to marry Chaz with the threat of harming or killing Millie if he didn't. As far as Moxxie knows, what's going on next door isn't a betrayal so much as a preview of what his life is about to turn into... permanently.
** [[SadisticChoice It’s a situation where there is no good outcome for either Moxxie or Millie.]] Moxxie either obeys his father and marries Chaz, or refuses which will lead Crimson to order for Millie and/or him to be killed; Either way, he’ll never see his beloved wife again. The way he sobs as he looks at his wedding photos is ''heart-breaking.'' That is, until he stops being sad and gets pissed off…

[[folder:Western Energy]]
* At the beginning of the episode, Stolas is checking his phone before Andrealphus speaks for the first time, and there's a reminder that he has a meeting with Ozzie in three days. At the end of The Circus, we saw Stolas looking up Asmodean crystals in a book. In the episode after this one, Unhappy Campers, Blitzo needs the assistance of people to portal to and from different rings as well as to the living world using a crystal (even Barbie uses one to leave the living world at the end). This seems to indicate foreshadowing that Stolas is about to negotiate for an Asmodean crystal from the King of Lust so that the arrangement between him and Blitzo as it stands can be dissolved. Considering the episode after Unhappy Campers has been shown to feature Fizzarolli and Ozzie, will there also be a turning point where Blitzo is now able to interact with Stolas of his own free will rather than under their agreement?
* When Striker starts stabbing Stolas with a knife and name calling in multiple ways, including mentioning hurting his daughter, Octavia.
* After Blitzo gets everything settled with Loona's appointment, he's promptly trampled by the media and paparazzi, only catching a brief glimpse of Stolas as he's rushed into the hospital due to his injuries. He's obviously frustrated and confused as to what's going on, but when Moxxie and Millie explain what happened, he comes to a horrified realization at just how much danger Stolas was truly in.
-->'''Moxxie:''' Sir, are you okay?\\
'''Blitzo:''' [[SarcasmMode Oh, peachy! Yeah, no, today's been]] ''[[SarcasmMode wonderful]]''. What the fuck was that about?!\\
'''Millie:''' Stolas got hurt ''bad''.\\
'''Blitzo:''' Stolas got ''[[FlatWhat what]]''? Uh-wha-how? (''[[ThousandYardStare stares at the crowd of paparazzi as they enter the hospital]]'') …''He can get '''hurt'''?''
* Surprisingly, we get one for Striker too. His rant towards Stolas makes it pretty clear that his beef with the Goetia royalty is deeper and [[ItsPersonal more personal]] than just hating them for their privilege...
-->'''Striker:''' Look, not every ring is some fancy-ass city with some fancy-ass mansion that only fancy-ass royals get to live in! Some of us have hard lives to live. And ''some of us'' have everything we care about taken away by ''fuckers like you!''\\
'''Stolas:''' I have no- (''gets stabbed in the shoulder'') AAAAGH!\\
'''Striker:''' YOU don't get to talk over me! (''whips his face with his tail'') I don't have to listen to your ''bullshit!'' (''slams his boot into Stolas' wound'') All you royals ever do is try to talk over us!
* Stolas puts up an incredibly brave front throughout his torture, shrugging off even a holy knife plunging ''through his'' '''leg''' without much more than a strained tone of voice. Even so, after what's implied to be a long time - maybe even hours - he's actively whimpering and no longer able to speak louder than a ragged whisper, even when Via is threatened.
** For an extra twist of the knife: Stolas' brave front is built entirely around ''Blitzø.'' Every comment we see him make to Striker, barring his response to the imp mentioning Via, is a comment as to how much rougher and more effective Blitzø is at causing pain. Since we have ample evidence that Stolas and Blitzø engage in hardcore BDSM, which requires the consent of everyone involved and relies heavily on boundaries, safewords and aftercare, Stolas' repeated comments that "Blitzø is rougher with [him]" and "Blitzø's knife is sharper and goes deeper" comes across as Stolas antagonising Striker by reminding the imp ''and himself'' of someone who cares about Stolas.
*** It also gives the impression that Stolas believes being with Blitzø makes him stronger or that Stolas believes Blitzø would never crack under torture from Striker if their positions were reversed, so he's trying to act with the same attitude that Blitzø has - an attitude that Stolas probably admires. Moxxie also has an element of this when Striker is choking him and Moxxie just says, "Harder" with a grin on his face. How telling is it that the two closest men to Blitzø see him as someone they can draw strength from when facing certain death?
* The episode ends with Stolas, alone in his hospital room, getting a get well soon text from Blitzo. The sad part comes when Stolas replies by saying that Blitzo can come visit, and Blitzo starts replying... [[AllergicToLove but can't bring himself to do it]], sad music playing as Stolas puts his phone down.

[[folder:Unhappy Campers]]
* We finally meet Barbie Wire, and she doesn't like Blitzo one bit.
** The way she behaves with her brother is similar to Blitzo/Stolas dynamic where she is in the role of the former. She refuses any Blitzo's genuine attempts to help her, just like he refused Stolas's genuine love earlier. Like brother, like sister, indeed.
** Pay attention to Barbie's body language when she's laying into Blitzo. She is notably pointing towards his necklace, the same necklace ''their mother'' once wore. As if she's blaming ''him'' for her death...
** Barbie’s rejection somehow manages to be even more devastating than that of either Fizzarolli or Verosika. The latter two go out of their way to confront Blitzo about their dislike of him when they meet, but Barbie avoids him like the plague. Blitzo – who has been vehemently denying any reference to his old name, life, and identity – was keeping tabs on his sister this entire time and she’s one of the few people he keeps images of openly in his apartment and office. It’s clear he’s been holding onto hope that they might reconnect. Barbie is more than likely the last remaining member of his biological family, not to mention she’s his ''twin''. A fundamental part of himself now hates him forever (and the guy already has enough self-loathing to spare).
** Blitzo's facial expression to hearing Barbie's "I don't want to see you again" speech is heartbreaking in it's own. It's Blitzo having learning the hard way that the ones he once loved and wronged wants him out of their lives for good.
* This is the most humiliating episode for Moxxie so far. He had one time to lead the case methodically. And during that he got rejected numerous times, was upstaged by his wife and had a quarrel with her, spend an entire week trying to find a target his way and as a cherry on top - was called a "fucking disgrace" by Blitzo at the end of the episode, just when he thought he would get some praise. His reaction at the end is heartbreaking and Millie is understandably pissed at Blitzo.
** Overall this episode shows just what kind of dark side Moxxie has. All that planning, all that effort of inventing characters and feeling so upstaged by Millie, all of it from some need for validation and a seriously fragile ego. Just shows how having the kind of childhood he’s had has really had an effect on him in more ways than one.
* It's revealed that Millie feels like a third wheel sometimes and she just wants that acknowledgment and fulfillment of being praised for being her instead of screamed at by her victims when she's murdering them. But in her moment to shine, she can't get the support of her own husband (initially).
* Blitzo [[KickTheDog cruelly taking back his claims that Moxxie did good on the job after praising him]], which was seemingly done [[MisplacedRetribution just because he was bummed about his sister and he didn't want Moxxie to be happy]]. While he had every right to call out Moxxie over how badly he botched the mission, the fact he choose to do it this way was just awfully petty.
* A subtle one right in the first two minutes of the episode: Since we know Stolas was admitted to a hospital in Sloth, viewers might have assumed that was who Blitzo was trying to sneak in to visit. Nope - he was trying to check in on Barbie, and Stolas doesn't even get a mention in the entire episode. On one hand, it's perfectly understandable that Blitzo would prioritize his family over his "transactional fuck"; on the other, poor Stolas...
** Doubly so because in the last episode, Blitzo prioritized Loona over Stolas too, even if Blitzo clearly felt as though he should be able to do both (whether it's because he cares about Stolas or because Stolas is the reason his business stays afloat, or both, is anyone's guess).
** On the other hand, Stolas seems just fine by the next episode, so it's entirely possible he was already out of the hospital by the events of this one.

[[folder:Oops]]
* Fizz, unlike Blitzo, spends most of the episode terrified due to not being a fighter or being used to being danger like Blitzo is, at one point even wailing that [[DesperatePleaForHome he just wants to go home]].
* The fact that in the flashback, Blitz was the one who inadvertently burned his own friend is one thing but given a photo of his mom burning to ash, its implied he accidentally killed his own mother, all during Fizzy's birthday.
-->'''Blitzø:''' Look, I'm ''sorry'', Fizz. I am ''so'' sorry you got so hurt. I'm sorry for what you lost, and I-I ''know'' I can ''never'' make that right. But you have ''no'' idea… what ''I lost in that fire''. I mean, it's-it's ''[[ItsAllMyFault all my fault]]''. I-I'd hate me, too.
** Want it to feel even worse? You can make out young Blitzo saying "Mom?!" when he realizes the tent, she's in is up in flames.
*** And if Barbie knows this, it could explain exactly why she never wants to see Blitzo again. If he feels responsible for their mother's death and admitted it to her, she will hate him for it. By all accounts, it sounds like their mother was a good parent while Cash was decidedly not.
*** Before that, you can see Blitz trying to get an imp's attention to point them out to where Fizz was. Blitz genuinely did all he could to try and help, and it didn't work.
** As if all of this weren't enough: ''the horses!!'' The same three circus horses which Blitzo adored were in the next tent adjacent to the party and are seen fleeing in terror. Nearly everything and everyone Blitzo loved at the time was in flames because of this accident (we don't see Barbie in the chaos but that makes it no less heartbreaking).
* The reason that Fizz hates Blitzo so much? Because he was led to believe that Blitzo caused the fire ''on purpose'' due to everyone liking Fizz more than him, because he saw Blitzo angrily staring at him, followed by the tent catching fire, and then Blitzo seeming to run away when he reached out to him. The fact that Blitzo seemingly ''never'' came to visit him while he was recovering only convinced Fizz that his ''best friend,'' who he ''looked up to'', tried to ''kill him out of envy.''
** Even worse, Blitzo reveals that he ''tried'' to visit him, ''because he was all he had left''. But [[YouKnowTheOne "They"]] told him that Fizz didn't want to see him. Fizz looks confused and ''hurt'' by this revelation, saying that he had ''never'' told "them" that. When Blitzo voices his disbelief, Fizz insists that he ''really never did''- in fact, he says "they" never told him ''he even showed up''. One wonders whether or not Cash had something to do with it...
*** Just the fact that Blitzo mentions Fizzarolli being "all [I] had left" really drives home how isolated he became after the fire accident, even though the fallout has yet to be fully seen. His mother dead, his sister and father wanting nothing to do with him, and the other circus employees holding resentment to him.
** And what was it that caused Blitzo to storm out of the tent, unknowingly knocking over the birthday cake and starting the fire? Seeing his ''own father'' giving Fizz a birthday card outright saying that he wished ''he'' was his son.
** Before storming off, Blitzo is seen holding two items in his hands - a flower, and a letter with a heart sticker. Sharp-eyed viewers will see writing on the envelope - "Fizz's eyes only". The implication is that Blitzo had developed feelings for his friend, and was going to confess, but seeing everyone fawning over him, even his own father, sparked Blitzo's insecurity and jealousy, causing him to storm off. Blitzo's actions didn't just hurt his best friend, but his potential ''first love.'' No wonder he's in that deep denial over the Stolas situation.
** Notice all those demons in the flashback? The ones that supposedly loved Fizzarolli so much? All of them, including Blitzo's father, abandoned Fizz and left him to die as soon as they saw the fire. It says a lot that Blitzo, the one who started the fire in the first place, was the ''only one'' who tried to help him.
* It's worth noting that this is the first and so far, ''only'' instance of Blitz owning up to the fact that a previously friendly or at least cordial relationship souring was ''his own fault''. He refused to take any responsibility for his own role in his relationship with Verosika falling apart, and he tried to force himself back into Barbie's life despite the fact she's clearly still broken and embittered from his role in their mother's death, but with Fizz? Once he realizes exactly ''why'' Fizz hated him for so long, [[ItsAllMyFault he almost immediately agrees that he has every right to be angry]].
* Fizz ends up in a very similar situation to the above one in the flashback - hurt by an explosion, lying helpless on the ground, and surrounded by fire. The similarity was likely ''[[TraumaButton too close]]'' for Blitzo, who ''very visibly panics'' and '''''screams''''' ''Fizz's name with painfully raw desperation and fear''. You can practically ''hear him'' vividly reliving that fateful moment in his head when he said that. And thankfully, he leaps to Fizz's rescue without hesitation this time.
* Even though Fizz is very relieved to be back home with Ozzie by the end of the episode and is not eager to go on solo ventures anytime soon ("Today I learned that I hate going outside!")... notice the look on his face when Ozzie replies that "[he] won't have to again". Fizz is still a popular showman, and while he ''is'' living in the lap of luxury with someone he clearly loves, it's no less a [[GildedCage gilded cage]], even if he's happy and protected. The power imbalance and class difference are still there, if the constant trouble of tabloid headlines is any indication.
** This was even subtly hinted at during their conversation in the beginning -- While Ozzie doesn't do anything abusive and/or coercive to Fizz, only showing genuine concern for the jester's safety, Fizz's nervous reaction implies he might be feeling unheard in their relationship but doesn't ''directly'' bring it up. And his comment about Ozzie "not being big on the whole Mammon thing" also implies that the Sin of Lust has issues with his lover having a job with Mammon, which may have caused tension at some point between the two.
* The look on Fizz's face when Ozzie takes out scissors to cut his sleeve. He may have medical PTSD, especially since Sloth doesn't seem to take good care of their patients. It's possible that they fully chopped off what was left of his burnt arms with scissors.
* The fact that despite Fizz's immense talent and success, especially for an imp, there are indications (as seen through the comments from Blitzo and Striker), that many other imps see him as nothing more than a "purse dog" for Asmodeus. Or see him as a GoldDigger. And this same episode reveals how he was ''[[BodyHorror horrifically]]'' burned as a teenager, losing his limbs and horns. And while much of his backstory hasn't been revealed yet, there's little doubt how much physical and emotional pain he had to go through before beginning his career. And despite ''all of that'', there are ''still'' Hell citizens out there who will only ever see him as a lowly imp.

[[folder:MAMMON’S MAGNIFICENT MUSICAL MID-SEASON SPECIAL (ft Fizzarolli)]]
* Arick's first encounter with Fizzarolli is bad enough, but when he comes back just to give him a scathing TheReasonYouSuckSpeech, Fizz starts having a genuine panic attack.
* Throughout the episode, Asmodeus keeps showing concern for the pressure Fizz is putting himself under working for Mammon, going so far as to call Blitz to try and convince him to quit.
* After being a StepfordSmiler for the majority of the episode and having a full-on panic attack in his dressing room, Fizz finally pours out his insecurities to Asmodeus, telling him that he's terrified of losing him if he doesn't win the pageant because he feels that Ozzie's only with him because of who he is under Mammon's patronage. He even ''[[MaskingTheDeformity yanks his jester hat off]]'' - [[WhamShot revealing his scarred, splotchy head and the jagged stumps of what remains of his horns]] - in an attempt to show Ozzie what he believes he is without Mammon: an ugly, broken, ''worthless'' imp.
--> '''Fizz:''' You’re with me because of who I am at my best! I’m barely worthy of working with a King of Sin ‘cause ''[[ScarsAreUgly this]]'' is [[BlemishedBeauty who I am!]] Without all this, I'm just ''nothing,'' and Mammon ''made me this.'' I owe it ''all'' to him…
** This makes a comment from “Oops” HarsherInHindsight- remember when Fizz tells Blitzo that the accident didn’t ruin his life and “it’s not like I’m broken”? He was ''lying,'' and ''does'' think he’s broken.
** “Crooked” the song directly after this, while sweet, has moments of Fizz still doubting himself and believing he's inferior to Ozzie:
--> ''I don't know why you waste your time on me''
-->''When there's so much I'll never be…''
* A very subtle moment when Mammon and Asmodeus almost fight over Fizarolli - when the Sin of Greed threatens to reveal their romance to the audience, the couple have different reactions. While Ozzie is only briefly shocked by Mammon's threat before angrily stating he doesn't care about it anymore, Fizz is noticeably not only scared but ''worried.'' Despite being reassured by the moment they shared in his dressing room, Fizz still fears losing Asmodeus if it became known that they're in love.
** And during Mammon's threat to expose their romance, the greedy asshole basically devalues Fizz's own autonomy - he mockingly refers to the imp as Oz's "little secret" and says that if Oz lets him quit, he'll tell everyone present. Now, it was made clear from his [[EstablishingCharacterMoment introduction]] how much of a greedy, exploitative jerk he was, but this subtle moment is still telling.

---> ''I used to think that I was bold''\\

--> '''Blitzo:''' ''WHERE'S MY BABY??!!''

[[/folder]]

[[/folder]]

---->'''Blitzo''': Don't be a puss, we're ''just'' killing a mother. We're ''ruining'' a family.

-->'''Moxxie:''' Sir, are you okay?\\

[[/folder]]

--> ''I don't know why you waste your time on me''
-->''When there's so much I'll never be…''
* A very subtle moment when Mammon and Asmodeus almost fight over Fizarolli - when the Sin of Greed threatens to reveal their romance to the audience, the couple have different reactions.
