* AlternateTimelines: As a side effect of the manner he was saved, Ianto becomes capable of seeing timelines, something which remains even after time is stabilised.

* DistantEpilogue: The final chapter takes place 5000 years after the events of the fic.

* InSpiteOfTheNail: In spite of the changes made, the 456 still attack Earth and Ianto dies trying to stop them with Jack, although Tosh manages to help reverse the latter.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: How the expanded team dealt with ''Series/TorchwoodMiracleDay'' is largely skipped over, although Ianto was apparently able to put his [=MoreSight=] to good use and Gwen still got to blow up stuff.

** The 456 are defeated without the need to use Stephen as a transmitter, allowing him to survive where he didn't in canon.
** Although the details are not elaborated on, Ianto is able to save Esther from her canon death during the event of Miracle Day.

''Series/{{Torchwood}}'' saw a series of novels released between 2007 and 2012, beginning with ''Another Life'' and ending with ''Exodus Code''. Unlike the TV series, these books were presented in a similar format to the ''Literature/NewSeriesAdventures'', with a slightly larger page size.

----
!!Tropes in this series:
* BackFromTheDead: In "Long Time Dead", Suzie, who had already died twice, is revived once again by a piece of alien technology concealed within her body. As with her previous resurrection, this one doesn't last too long.
* BackstoryInvader: James Mayer in "Border Princes", an alien from another dimension who integrates with the Torchwood team by changing reality so that they believe that he has always been an important part of the team. Unlike the later TV example of Adam, James integrates himself using RealityWarper powers, and he can only do it within a hundred-mile radius.
* DrivesLikeCrazy: As "Slow Decay" reveals, Jack is not a very good driver, going the wrong way around roundabouts and parking it in random places on top of his inability to properly check for dangers.
* EmotionBomb: The alien device found at a crime scene in "Slow Decay" functions as an emotional amplifier, which leads to the murder of several people at a nightclub when the device amplifies and feedbacks their aggression. Gwen later takes it and tries to use it to rekindle her romance with Rhys, only to find her anger amplified to the point that she wanted to kill him.
* FormulaBreakingEpisode: "Consequences" differs from the rest of the range in that it is an anthology.
* TheGameComeToLife: In "Pack Animals", Gareth Portland creates a card game called Monstaquest, using the alien species he found in a Vandrogonite Visualiser to create the character. This causes a connection between the visualiser and the card, allowing the species within to come to life. Whilst initially accidental, Gareth eventually utilizes this to kill people he doesn't like. PlayedWith in that the monsters existed, being brought in through the rift by the Visualiser and made corporal by the fears of the victims who have the cards.
* GenderBender: In "Almost Perfect'', the male Ianto is given the form of the dead woman Christine through the Perfection's machine. Some exploration is made of the reality of Ianto becoming a woman, such as being sexualised, before he starts gaining stereotypically feminine traits such as cleaning and watching his weight.
* {{Invisibility}}: In "Pack Animals", Ianto comes into contact with a device which turns him completely invisible. This invisibility is eventually reversed by Jennifer Portland.
* InvisibleStreaker: In "Pack Animals", Ianto Jones is invisible for about half of the book. At one point he must sneak into a secret facility and is forced to do so nude, since his invisible clothes were ruined. His teammates also bar him from eating anything beforehand, as a floating blob of digesting food would be noticeable (not to mention disgusting).
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: In the case of "Bay of the Dead", the zombies seen there are artificial creatures brought into existence from the memories of Oscar Phillips, with their purpose being to find the life-shell of an alien named Leet. They can use a form of hypnotic suggestion by biting people, turning them into zombies as well.
* ParasiteZombie: The Water Hags seen in "Something In The Water" [[BizarreAlienReproduction procreate]] by infecting others with a virus, causing them to get weaker before dying. The host would then briefly reanimate, long enough for the growing Water Hag to drain testosterone from their host before bursting from the host's throat.
* SleekHighRiseApartment: Skypoint, first seen in its titular novel, is a high-rise apartment building with high levels of technology installed within it, such as fridges that orders food, HD TVs, and remotes that operate the lights, TV, and window blinds.
* SufficentlyAdvancedAlien: The Perfection in "Almost Perfect" are, as they admit to Jack, "just conmen with good technology", but have managed to construct a machine that serves as a belief system in that it allows them to become perfect and make perfect other worlds and people, to the point that they could be considered god-like.
* UnusualChapterNumber: "The Men Who Sold The World" has six Chapter Nineteens, each (except the last one) ending with Mr Wynter activating the time-gun and travelling back to the start of Chapter Nineteen. It also has flashback chapters headed "X Years/Months/Weeks Earlier..." and a prologue and epilogue headed "100,000 BC".
* WeightLossHorror: In "Slow Decay", a Doctor called Dr. Scrotus promotes special pills which can help people lose weight. Trouble is that these pills are actually the eggs of an alien tapeworm, and anyone who consumes them gains a severe case of HorrorHunger.

"No Place Like Home" is a BBC1 sitcom which aired from 1983 to 1987.

Now that Nigel, the youngest of their four children, has gone off to university, Arthur and Beryl Crabtree are looking forward to a quiet life. This does not last long however as all of the children drift back into their house.

!!Examples:
* AnimalLover: Vera both loves and cares for sick animals, to the point of keeping what Arthur describes as a "menagerie" at her home.
* AwfulWeddedLife: It's not hard to imagine why Lorraine wants to go back home, considering the fact that her husband Raymond is the sort of man who accidentally cuts her finger at the wedding reception, locks himself in the bathroom, and says something implied to be unpleasant to her.
* BasementDweller: The show focuses on the adult children of Arthur and Beryl moving back into their parents, although their reasons vary: Nigel returns because he doesn't believe himself ready to do veterinary science yet (that, and he had gotten engaged to Fiona and had previously wanted a year to think over things), Lorraine comes back after a row with her husband, Tracey comes back after breaking up with her boyfriend, and Paul reappears after he is fired from his job as a car room salesman
* DatingWhatDaddyHates:
** Arthur never approved of Tracey's boyfriend due to the fact that he had a job at the library. Despite his claims that his disapproval comes from an old-school sensibility, Vera claims that he's just peeved that it's because the library didn't open until after he had bought the book. Of course, the fact that Tracey decided to move in with the boyfriend before getting married was not a positive in Arthur's eyes.
** Nigel explains to Arthur that he can't hold celebrations for his girlfriend's birthday at her house because her father has an allergy... to him.
* NosyNeighbour: Vera is Arthur and Beryl's next-door neighbour. She's also constantly showing up at the couple's house for a variety of reasons.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: In the wake of all his children deciding to move back in, Arthur decides to try to walk out the door and leave home. He doesn't get very far.
* SecondEpisodeIntroduction: Lorraine and Raymond are mentioned in the first episode, but don't make any on-screen appearances until the second episode.
* UnusualPetsForUnusualPeople: In fitting with her {{Cloudcuckoolander}} personality, Vera has some very odd animals she keeps, such as piranhas and parrots.

* AerithAndBob: The cast for the most part have average names, like Georgie, Lizzie, and Geoff... and then you have the names of ''Erasmus'' and ''Boyco''.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Boyco has feelings for Lizzie, feelings which Lizzie doesn't share back.
* AllPartOfTheShow: In "Skydiver", Geoff gets into a fight with a living statue, who traps him in a telephone box. Unfortunately, his attempts at being freed are hindered by the fact that the people think that he's doing a convincing street act, so give him money instead of any form of help.
* BaitAndSwitch: The Somersault Claims advertisement that Boyco stars in in "Visa" features a man cutting carrots, with the expectation that the man will injure himself with the knife and claim off of that. Then a seagull swoops in and attacks him instead.
* TheBore: Considering the fact that Geoff is meant to be a clown, he's not a particularly interesting performer - one critical review notes that he is a good act... to allow people to nip off to the toilets.
* BritishBrevity: Only one series consisting of 6 episodes was ever made.
* ButtMonkey: Of the cast, Geoff gets the most physical injury, being amongst other things being attacked by ferrets, having his foot injured by a rake, and getting dragged off by the immigration agency.
* CrappyCarnival: Circus Maestro was once described by a poster as "the UK's lousiest circus" and it shows.
* CrazyWorkplace: The performers and employees at Circus Maestro are rather crazy - Lizzie is one of the more sane members, but isn't above threatening competitors with slander about smallpox, Geoff the clown is an absolute bore who plays with acts like sending live ferrets down his trousers, Boyco is a FunnyForeigner who is lacking in English customs and possessive of Lizzie, Erasmus is cynical and hopes for the failures of the performers, Georgie uses her dog as an incentive to get what she wants, and Helen is on a different plane of reality altogether.
* DeathSeeker: In the wake of his wife leaving him and unemployment, Martin the human cannonball in "Skydiver" has become this, wanting to perform his act without any safety precautions and towards a solid wall. He doesn't get the chance to do this however before he patches things up with his wife and gets a job interview, making him no longer seek death.
* DistantEpilogue: "Dad" ends three years later than the rest of the series at the 2012 Olympics, where we see that the act performed by Circus Maestro lasted one and a half minutes and amounted to two clowns with sparklers and an elderly dog in a bowler hat. For this, Boris Johnson is fired.
* ElectricJoybuzzer: The Inspector is initially apprehensive of shaking hands with Plonky the clown, fearing that Plonky would have an electric joybuzzer on his hand. When the Inspector shakes hands anyway, it is revealed that he is the one to have a joybuzzer, and Plonky is shocked for it.
* FakingTheDead: In "Dad", a large sum of money intended for the circus' appearance at the 2012 Olympics disappears, so Lizzie is forced to resort to faking Geoff's death to help replace it.
* FunnyForeigner: Boyco is an Eastern European acrobat whose main source of humour is that he is both unaware of British standards and has a comically exaggerated accent. PlayedWith in that he is British-born, having moved to Eastern Europe when he was very young, but he regardless acts like a foreigner.
* HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood: Boyco - in "Visa", it is revealed that not only did he drink up until the age of 3, but was also made to perform straight after he stopped drinking entirely. In "Dad", when Lizzie tells him to imagine his mother, Boyco starts imagining his mother beating him for performing badly. This is all PlayedForLaughs.
* HypocriticalHeartwarming: Even though Lizzie is willing to call her performers idiots, that doesn't mean that anyone else can, as her brief love interest in "Boyfriend" learns.
* IHaveYourWife: Georgie's dog David is kidnapped and put into a HostageSituation, with the kidnappers asking for £200 whilst sending Georgie over samples of the dog's poop and bark. It is eventually subverted when Boyco finds the dog underneath Georgie's caravan, revealing that Georgie faked the kidnapping to get the ransom money.
* TheIllegal: In "Visa", it is revealed that the Eastern European Boyco doesn't have a work permit for the United Kingdom, therefore putting everyone at jail. It's eventually subverted when it's revealed that Boyco has a British passport all along, having immigrated to Eastern European from his birthplace of Warrington when he was just 5 weeks old.
* TheInspectorIsComing: "Boyfriend" sees the circus undergo a health and safety inspection, something which the circus apparently hasn't passed previously. Lizzie promptly goes to ridiculous lengths to convince the inspector, such as putting pen lids on pens under the pretense that they could be dangerous, but it turns out that the Inspector, on top of having a sense of humour, is not partcularly concerned about the dangerousness of the acts at Circus Maestro and passes Lizzie, even starting a brief relationship.
* MarriageOfConvenience: When Boyco is found to be an illegal immigrant, Georgie suggests marrying him so that he doesn't have to be deported. Georgie of course attempts to justify the marriage to Boyco by claiming that they had drunken sex (even though Boyco claims to not have drunk since [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehaviour he had started to perform at the age of 3]]) and she's carrying his baby. It doesn't work however as Boyco only has eyes for Lizzie, so plans are arranged to get Boyco married to Lizzie, much to her annoyance. Not even the reveal that Boyco is actually a British-native helps, and it's only when Boyco is injured that Lizzie is able to get out of it, being justified to Boyco as becoming a bad acrobat due to his love for Lizzie.
* MarriedToTheJob: Lizzie has not taken a break since 2003, and is both surprised at what a house looks like and worried that the circus will break apart without her when she goes on a date (which considering the fact that the circus had disappeared when she came back isn't surprising).
* OneWordTitle: All episodes of the series are only one word in length, such as "Skydiver" and "Boyfriend".
* PassThePopcorn: In "Skydiver", Lizzie starts eating a bag of popcorn as she watches Geoff being chased by a dog up a ladder, light himself on fire, and hang upside down from the trapeze. Georgie and Boyco, who are accompanying Lizzie during the scene, soon start eating the popcorn themselves.
* RoadApples: David the dog is seemingly kidnapped, and at one point, the kidnappers send over a sample of his poop to Georgie. Lizzie is disgusted when she sees it, especially when Georgie mentions how it's definitely David's poop as his favourite biscuit is in it.
* SquirrelsInMyPants: Geoff practices a routine where he stuffs a hot dog under his trousers and sends in three hungry ferrets after it. Plonky advertises it as being incredibly dangerous, something which the Inspector seems fine with, and the ferrets end up ravaging his pubic areas to the extent that Lizzie tries to convince him to go to casualty.
