* BoobsOfSteel: Part of Elmira's vanity comes from her being buxom, and obviously, she's a monk that gets in front of enemies and punches and kicks them, using the brawling power of her body, until they stop moving.

* ShesGotLegs: Long, well-developed, and toned ones (which Cole has seen fit to notice and comment upon at any given opportunity) which her kicks and robes tend to reveal.

* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Cole would love to think about nothing but his work. To his dismay, he can't quite stop himself from lending a hand to people with problems, especially if his skills can contribute and ''especially'' if it's someone struggling under imperial ambition. Additionally, no matter how badly Cole might want to get his hands on a discovery, he will not put others at risk in order to have what he desires.

* HiddenHeartOfGold: Cole presents a thin facade of cynicism, selfishness, and disregard for others. Exceedingly thin. Near-everyone whom he has not directly crossed can see through his act with ease, mostly because of his ChronicHeroSyndrome and how reliable he is beneath all the bluster and double talk.

A Half-Elven woman who is a Monk mostly in physical prowess, because no one would mistake her for solemn. [[spoiler: She was dumped in the monastery, after all, by a “father” who would as soon see her dead now.]]

!Coulson Pike

A Human definitely-not-Treasure Hunter who carries an unfortunate, infamous reputation with a few shady-types. [[spoiler: Hiding in plain sight from a crazy father with military authority.]]

* ActionSurvivor: How he tends to make it through most situations. He truly would like to pursue his life's chosen passion in peace but considering that passion tends to lead him into encounters with cutthroats, ancient dangers, and the like, he solves problems as they present themselves. Unhappily.

* BadassBookworm: Much of what he picked up about history and rare, expensive artifacts by being in the field, but nearly as much he picked up by digging through books for the most minute tidbits of information that others might have overlooked.

* TheCharmer: Cole is a bit of TheCasanova, but he hasn't always used his looks and charms to lure in women. He can also be disarming in general, because everyone should totally trust the fellow at the archaeological dig who's just there to do all the brain and planning work, right?

* CulturedBadass: ZigZaggingTrope. Cole has extensive knowledge of history, various cultures, literature, and similar fields associated with sophistication, but he uses his knowledge to find pieces of history for profit as much as anything and fits much more comfortably among seedy types than he does refined nobles.
* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler: His father had secured an important military post for him by way of his prestige as a scientist. Cole, who was not exactly qualified in the first place, quickly decided that this position wasn't worth having to be a part of his father's descent into a dark madness that was leaving people dead and departed to start an unattached life focused on his real passions.]]

* LadykillerInLove: [[spoiler: Cole has always had a fairly easy time as it relates to opportunities with women, but Elmira intrigued him so much that the vast majority of other women he encounters nowadays fail to capture his attention.]]
* LeParkour: Cole is both strong and nimble, and most importantly of all, used to maneuvering his way around difficult terrain such as ruins, canyons, and the like.

* OutlawCouple: Not so much outlaws, as the authorities aren't necessarily after them, but he and Elmira invoke this trope in relation to their families' searches for them - in Cole's case, it may be more a hunt than a search.

* ReliablyUnreliableGuns: Given he's a user of a fairly rare firearm (which he only has because it is a machination that he stole from his father's laboratory before he bolted) that he barely knows how to maintain and that isn't exactly common, the weapon can misfire on him. A problem, given he is merely a BadassNormal and relies on it heavily.
* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler: What was happening to his father, and what Cole wouldn't stand by to witness. He realized that any care his father had for him had been entirely replaced by his obsessions for power.]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: [[spoiler: Essentially how he left his home and his post - immediately after a meeting with his father, with him leaving the city with nothing but a few belongings and a weapon when he realized how he was becoming privy to the crimes of a madman.]]

* TheCharmer: Incredibly independent and prone to streaks of mischief to get her way, Elmira has found herself in trouble many times over the years, even in the peaceful confines of the monastery where her masters, at times, had to find ways to handle her attitude. Despite this, Elmira has proven to be so endearing over the years that everyone at the monastery, though they disciplined her, was to some extent under her charming spell. [[spoiler: They adored her so much that they were willing to let her flee and live her life rather than risk death alongside them.]]

* DudeMagnet: Well, she got Cole to settle down and enjoy staring at no one but her, for one. Plus, in her first real adventure, she ends up having both a bard and a half-orc become admirers for her beautiful ass-kicking prowess.

* KickChick: Frequently employs kicking into her martial style, and while it is graceful, it is otherwise practical and not exactly played for the leggy emphasis. [[spoiler: Let no one tell Cole that her flying legs are not there for him to admire, however.]]

* LockedAwayInAMonastery: Before she was hardly old enough to comprehend what was happening to her, Elmira was thrust into a monastery by a "father" who didn't want her around. Though she made the most of it, her time there was filled with pain and loneliness, especially given her independence and innate yearning for freedom.
* MagicalMartialArts: The particular martial arts employed by her monastery involved wielding the elemental magics for various purposes, and Elmira became a practitioner.

* OutlawCouple: With Cole, though neither is truly an outlaw. Elmira probably skims closer to outlaw than Cole, though she has committed no crimes. Her father has enough sway to see her treated as a fugitive by certain authorities, however.
* TheParalyzer: Literally cannot seem to stop succeeding with clutch uses of the monk technique Stunning Strike.

* ThePowerOfTheSun: Practiced in the Way of the Sun Soul, which is exactly what it sounds like, allowing her to channel her ki into various abilities that let her release blasts of solar energy.
