In the present, Croseus takes control of and possesses the nameless heroine's husband, before setting his plan into motion: to open the gates to the Eldritch Abomination beings he worships and allow them to devour all that lives.

# SelfDemonstrating.TheJokerTropesAToF: While I'm certainly not cliché enough to use the same material again and again, it seems that classic line from Heathy has become my unofficial motto: "Why so serious?" Hey, if it sticks, it sticks! (Just so long as I get a cut of all that glorious T-shirt revenue...) "One Bad Day". That was originally mine, these days everyone in Gotham is saying it.

# VideoGame.SuperRobotWars30: Kamille. Due to his Mind Rape from Scirocco, he wasn't able to be there when Amuro fought Char, something that he didn't take very well. It's only by seeing Jona continue to fight against impossible odds, as well as Amuro telling him "Don't let the dead consume you!" that Kamille is able to regain the will to fight.
# Music.LosCampesinos: "Doe eyes" has been a long-lasting term frequently mentioned in their songs.Eyes are a recurring theme in "Hello Sadness," and the phrase "sad eyes" appears in the last three song songs on the album: To Tundra ("We take on the burden of all these sad-eyed children, with lilies bunched in our hands"), Baby, I Got the Death Rattle ("One look in my sad eyes, she had to concede"), and Light Leaves, Dark Sees Pt. II ("But they request that I leave 'cause my sad eyes are too much to bear"). "Heart Swells" and "Documented Minor Emotional Breakdown" have labeled various songs in a semi-Thematic Series sort of way.

# IronicEcho.LiveActionFilms: In Fight Club, related to ArcWords. One example that stands out in particular is when the group leader for the Testicular Cancer support group that the Narrator visits addresses the people in the room with the phrase "I look around this room and I see a lot of...", which Tyler steals while making his "Middle Children of History" speech later on in the film.

There's a power-up known as the Wonder Flower which triggers a Wonder Effect, players collect Wonder Seeds to unlock new levels and purchase badges, and the world is portrayed as a Wonderland. Mario will even say "Wonderful!" after collecting a Wonder Seed. The final message displayed to you after clearing the Special World is "YOU ARE A SUPER WONDER!"
# ShowWithinAShow.{{Literature}}: The Jack O'Connell novel The Resurrectionist features a comic book series about a carnival freak show in fantasy Central Europe called "Limbo." "Limbo" is a multimedia franchise in the book's world, and the hero's comatose son was fascinated by it. The word is also an arc word outside of the comic.
# YMMV.TheGuyWhoDidntLikeMusicals: The apotheosis is upon us.Explanation The ArcWords of the alien Hive Mind.
# Recap.GameOfThronesS8E5TheBells: After suffering from one long Trauma Conga Line throughout the season, losing her children and dear friends, her lover no longer wishing to be intimate with her, finding out her claim to the Iron Throne is no longer secure, and continuing to get no respect from an ungrateful populace, Daenerys decides enough is enough and "wakes the Dragon" on King's Landing. This is best exemplified with a quote from her at the start of the episode, when she feels that the people don't love her: "Let it be fear."
# Webcomic.CaribbeanBlue: "This is your destiny."
# Sandbox.{{Safind}}: Don't rock the boat

It has also been used by some of the more morally ambiguous characters as well. For Yuto and Kurosaki, "Hangyaku" (Rebellion). It's mentioned in their summon chants for both of their ace monsters. "Smile" or also commonly known as "egao", which has been repeated a few dozen times. "Become One" or "hitotsu ni" is repeated throughout the show with its meaning changing based on the side that uses it. When the Academia or Zarc use it, the phrase means a forceful physical fusion like the Academia trying to fuse the dimensions or Zarc trying to fuse his counterparts to revive. When the good guys use it, it means someone was able to emotionally unite the audience through their dueling.

# AudioPlay.WereAlive: "That was then...This is now..." Heard at the start of each season opener and at the beginning of several other episodes. Always spoken by Michael.
# YMMV.MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha: HarsherInHindsight: The ending theme is a cheerful tune about making "a little wish" so the singer can see someone close to them smile. A's was all about "[[ArcWords a small wish]]" for the exact same thing, under far more depressing circumstances.
# VideoGame.Pikmin4: The Rescue Team loves to work word around the term "Dandori", which is a real Japanese word roughly meaning "procedure". The concept of Dandori is efficiently organizing your tasks so that you can complete them as fast as possible, and can roughly be considered analogous to "proper planning". The Leaflings are also completely obsessed with the idea to the point that it's the only thing that most of them can even talk or think about.
# BattlestarGalactica2003.TropesJToR: OrphanedEtymology: Several words and phrases used are borrowed from Earth history, despite being set in a fictional universe where modern history as we know it doesn't exist. Word of God states this was intentional in at least some cases, in reference to the ArcWords "All of this has happened before and will happen again". The specific example mentioned above was All Along the Watchtower, which in the Colonial universe has the same lyrics and melody as the Real Life song, but a different arrangement.
# Webcomic.TheLegendOfMrSatan: "With dreams of being a king, first one should be a man." These are the words that begin Mr. Satan's Character Development. They also conclude it, when he dies as a hero during the fight against Perfect Cell.

And in a season fraught with absurd, largely avoideable deaths, the two sort of became the Only Sane Pair in the group, saving each other from various dangers themselves. They even coined what became the season's ArcWords, "Follow your dreams", endearing them to the fanbase.
# Literature.TheTeethOfTheTiger: "Tiger" comes up often, down to the title and the Tag Line.
# Recap.DoctorWhoS28E1NewEarth: ContinuityNod: At the beginning, the TARDIS is parked on the (faded) giant chalk [[ArcWords "Bad Wolf"]] graffito from "The Parting of the Ways". As she says her goodbyes to her mother, Rose mentions her cousin Mo from the Peak District, previously name-checked in "The Christmas Invasion". The Doctor mentions Platform One, where he and the Face of Boe first met, and Rose's original reference to Cassandra being a "trampoline" is repeated, this time by Cassandra herself. The Doctor previously met a form of cat people in "Survival". Rose's Nokia "Superphone", which the Doctor first upgraded in "The End of the World", makes a reappearance here when the Doctor calls to check on her whereabouts, oblivious that she's presently possessed by Cassandra. A wish that could not be realized. And the days left in our hands. However much we may cry, the past will not come back.
# Literature.TheChroniclesOfTevenar: "Right here, right now, like this."
# PyrrhicVictory.{{Literature}}: The Battle of Castle Black ends in this for the Night's Watch. Yes, Stannis shows up to save them and Castle Black remains under the Night's Watch's control. However, Stannis soon leaves to retake the North from the Boltons, meaning that the Night's Watch, already very low on manpower due to the dilapidation of the organization over the centuries, is now dangerously low on men after the Great Ranging and the battle. In addition, several buildings and constructs are damaged quite badly in the battle, and [[ArcWords winter is coming]], and with it, the Others and the army of the dead.
# Fridge.MortalKombatX: As pointed out and shown by Dark Raiden at the end of story mode, the Elder Gods cannot die... and fallen though he be, Shinnok is still an Elder God. Whatever crap you put him through, he ultimately lives through that... and all the consequences that implies. Cut out his heart and drink its blood? Lives. # ComicBook.TheLosers: "Vaya con Dios, angelitos."
# Literature.{{Embassytown}}: The requirement for Language to be literal means that stressed repetition of the same words is a key component of communicating ideas. The Hosts pay a young Avice to go through a bizarrely staged performance to make her into a simile, "The girl who ate what was given to her." The full simile is more elaborate — the girl is in pain, in the dark, in an abandoned restaurant where people don't eat anymore. As the book goes on and the simile is repeated, the ways in which the Ariekei are both like and unlike the girl make the simile increasingly apt, and finally lead to the breakthrough in which the Hosts do not merely learn to lie, but grasp metaphor and symbolism. Surl Tesh-echer's most successful lie: "Before the humans came we didn't speak." Surl Tesh-echer's friend, the one Avice calls Spanish Dancer, makes the line the focus of its Big Damn Speech as the majority of Ariekei awaken to an understanding of lies, metaphor, and signifying language.
# VideoGame.GalacticCivilizations: DarkestHour: The storyline of Gal Civ II's expansion packs Dark Avatar and Twilight of the Arnor can be seen as the galaxy's darkest hour, not only has most of the galaxy been enslaved by the Drengin but the Korath are planning to annihilate all non-Drengin life at the behest of the Dread Lords who weren't truly defeated at the end of the core game's campaign. The only forces left in the galaxy that can fight the Dread Lords are the Drengin Empire whose forces are too preoccupied by the Korath clan's rebellion to fight the Dread Lords directly, and the remnants of the Terran fleet which remained a factor only because they stumbled across the last of the Arnor who provided them with his race's superior technology and warships. As of the third game, the Dread Lords have been eliminated as a major player (hopefully for real this time), but the Thalans still maintain that things are only going to get worse, and it's all the Terrans' fault somehow: "[[ArcWords A crusade is coming...]]"

# Anime.YuGiOhArcV: "The fun has just begun" seems to be a recurrent phrase, as it shows in the plot, openings and endings mostly by Yuya.

Bartholomew Roberts has some, too: "For I have dipped my hands in muddied waters, and withdrawing them find 'tis better to be a commander than a common man!"
# Heartwarming.{{Dunkirk}}: The brave Little Ships, including the Moonstone, eventually make it to the beach of Dunkirk, allowing for a greater number of soldiers to be evacuated. "Home" finally came for them. When pressed, Mr. Dawson notes that it's men his age who made the choice to send young men off to war, it's only right he risk his life to get them back. There's a wonderful little detail in the shots of the Little Ships coming in. If you look carefully, you can see both naval officers and civilian sailors manning them. While Dawson is the symbol of the brave civilians who helped in the evacuation, the shot still shows sailors and civilians working together to rescue their countrymen.
# VideoGame.HouseOfAshes: Semper Fi, the Marine motto meaning "always loyal". True to these words, the only way everyone can get out of this nightmare is with teamwork and remaining loyal to each other.
# MeaningfulRename.{{Webcomics}}: Oddly enough, Lord English changed his name to that from Caliborn after he suffered his first-ever defeat at the hands of Jake English, Jade's post-Scratch son. Weird Plot Shit applies.

The final chapter in the series, LOVE YOURSELF: Answer, features the song "I'm Fine", which is both in production and lyrics a Call-Back and a mirror to the song "Save Me", from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life.
# Literature.TheMouseAndHisChild: The dog food can seen numerous times throughout the movie. The characters speculate that some great wisdom lies beyond the last visible dog.
# ComicBook.BatmanGrantMorrison: ArcWelding: A particularly epic example, as everything from the origin of Vandal Savage to various wacky 1960s adventures are tied together as the work of Darkseid's Hyper-Adaptor and its eventual host, Simon Hurt/Thomas Wayne. Several ideas from Morrison's JLA run also make a return here, such as their interpretation of the fifth dimension and the ArcWords of "Batman and Robin will never die!" being from there as well.
# Awesome.BattlestarGalactica2003: Sabotaging the Colonials' plan to introduce a virus into the Cylon resurrection process and kill them all. On a series where everyone and their grandmother is either becoming a hopeless drunk or is willing to kick an entire animal shelter full of dogs on their way to the bathroom, or simply descending into angst-ridden nihilism, he's just about the one person who is unwilling to sacrifice his convictions just for a few more days of running and hoping the Cylons don't catch up to them. At the end of the day, he's ready to make the moral choice, and frak the consequences, and prove that Humanity is worthy of survival.
# Music.MouthAlbums: The word "Mouth" comes up a lot in the albums, both in the album titles and the titles of songs mashing "All Star" with something else. "Mouth Dreams" also recurs in, well, Mouth Dreams.
# Sandbox.MagnificentBastardVideoGamesMToZ: Vik is a merchant and slaver from Khare who sought to take advantage of the power vacuum left behind by the disappearance of the Council of Nobles to name himself First Noble and rule the city. Vik proves to be a charismatic figure who is able to turn the downtrodden masses to his side by promising to improve everyday life under the slogan "Vik for First Noble". Secretly, however, he creates an army of loyal werewolves by kidnapping the same downtrodden, infecting them with lycanthropy, and equipping them with armor to control them. Provided the goblins don't destroy the city, Vik's immoral methods prove worthwhile when he is able to take the city bloodlessly, abolish the council, and fully open Khare to the outside world.
# NightmareFuel.PoppyPlaytime: Although it was hard to see in-game before, a remastered update to Chapter 1 made several graphical changes to the lighting in the facility, which called better attention to a decal on the wall in the room where the first electrical circuit puzzle is solved. # Film.Incantation2022: The eponymous incantation is repeated throughout the film. It's later revealed that the incantation's purpose is to spread curses across multiple people, and thus dilute the effects.
# Manga.LandOfTheLustrous: "If only [you/I] weren't here..."
# VideoGame.MortalKombat1: "It's in our blood" serves as the game's Tagline and doubles as a Driving Question — Liu Kang has resculpted time and altered the backgrounds of numerous characters, particularly the antagonists, to give them a chance at better, more peaceful lives. Who among the cast will seize their second chance at happiness and who will repeat their old rivalries and ambitions once more?
# YMMV.{{Arcaea}}: Tairitsu's name means such in Japanese and the two initial lane skins are Light and Conflict. Eight months after the game's release, "conflict" by Siromaru and Cranky, one of the most crossed-over songs in all of rhythm games, makes its Arcaea debut as a song with the Conflict skin. This became a twofer with the Tone Sphere collaboration, where songs from TS's Solarsphere chapter get Light lanes and songs from its Darksphere chapter get Conflict lanes, and "conflict" is a Solarsphere song, meaning that if it had been included as part of the collab, it would've been a Light song instead. As icing on the cake, the Tone Sphere song "A Light" gets Conflict lanes (due to being a Darksphere song) rather than Light ones.
