** Flit was bestowed the AGE Device by his dying mother when their home in Colony ''Orvan'' was destroyed by the UE. Taking up residence in Colony ''Nora'', Flit worked with the Earth Federation garrison to build the Gundam from data found in the AGE Device. Escaping on the specialized MS assault carrier ''Diva'' after the UE destroyed ''Nora'', talented X-Rounder Flit became [[TheDreaded feared]] as pilot of the Gundam AGE-1, eventually becoming commander-in-chief of the Earth Federation Forces at the age of 40. Age did not abate his genocidal hatred of the UE for killing his FirstLove Yurin L'Ciel, and he initiated a MilitaryCoup to eliminate any Vagan sympathizers in the Earth Federation government, including even loyalists in favour of a peaceful resolution to the war. Only after a final spiritual conversation with Yurin in his waning years did he let go of his hatred, joining his son and grandson in an effort to save the Vagan homeworld from destruction. After his death, he remains a revered figure in his world's history.
** One could argue that Flit is the most morally suspect of main ''Gundam'' pilots. While his developing of the original AGE 1 Gundam was to defeat the UE and [[YouKilledMyFather avenge his mother]], understandable in itself, everything outside of that underlying motivation is subject to negative scrutiny. Naysayers argue that his obsession (including the aforementioned coup) should automatically bar Flit from holding any position of high command again, deriding him as a warmonger whose emotional issues cloud him from seeing the nuances of war with regard to the enemy. Flit understands this, and is very careful not to imbue GUAG subordinates with his past hatred, lest it stoke further violence and tarnish his image once more.

** [[green:ascension text]]Flit, Asemu and Kio were already established members of the Pantheon/GUAGRobotWarDivision when they were granted the shared title of GenerationalSaga, symbolizing the evolution of the Asuno dynasty and in the century-long war against the Vagan, and how their individual experiences changed them. The death of Yurin L'Ciel to maniacal Vagan pilot Desil Galette [[StartOfDarkness sparked in Flit a genocidal hatred towards the Vagan]], Asemu's [[FriendlyEnemy friendship]] with Vagan pilot (and CharClone) Zeheart Galette and seeing the Federation's corruption made him realize the futility of the war and a need for stalemate, and Kio's discovery of the Vagan's sickening circumstances on Mars inspired his desire to end the war peacefully. * AG 115. The Unknown Enemy attacks the space colony ''Angel'', destroying it on a day thereafter dubbed "The Day the Angel Fell", ending an age of peace and prosperity and sparking [[TheWarOfEarthlyAggression a war that would last one hundred years]]. A UE attack two years later on the space colony ''Orvan'' ends the life of scientist Marina Asuno, who relinquishes the portable supercomputer known as the AGE Device to her son Flit. The AGE Device is ultimately the linchpin of victory for the Earth Federation, whose war against the UE (later discovered to be the Vagan, a civlization of human colonists on Mars who were abandoned by the Federation) ends in peace between both factions. The [[TitleDrop Gundam]], a legendary weapon activated by the AGE Device, turns the tide of the war against Vagan, serving as a symbol of violence, stalemate, and peace to its three pilots, the three heroes of the Asuno family who have now ascended to the Pantheon.

Whether as [[ComicBook/TheTransformersIDW Prime's former teacher]], [[ComicBook/Transformers2019 head of the Senate Guard]], or [[Anime/TransformersRobotsInDisguise an overeager young bot]], Ironhide has proven himself one of the toughest and most experienced Transformers in history, and a worthy addition to the Pantheon.
** Ironhide was among the third wave of Autobots to join the fight, following on the heels of Arcee whose ascension was particularly problematic. Ironhide's own case before the Pantheon/CourtOfTheGods ended in disaster when his gun fired off by accident[[labelnote:''ARRNHAHHD'']]In case you need it spelled out for you, Ironhide's "water gun" can fire any substance you can imagine, even if it logically can't. You could ask Ironhide for some cotton candy and the gun would dispense ''that'' for you.[[/labelnote]]. Out came a torrent of liquid nitrogen, acid, and mud that stained the walls of the inner courtroom for an hour until the cleanup crew arrived. In return for getting the hell out of there, Ironhide was ascended with the trope AbnormalAmmo for the "demonstration".
** Ascending alongside him was Chromia, his longtime DistaffCounterpart (of sorts) who serves double duty as herald to Arcee. They may or may not be an item. In spite of their mutual similarities (being no-nonsense, tough-as-nails veterans with a fiercely protective streak), they insist on everything from being PlatonicLifePartners to having a [[AmicableExes once-romantic past that soured after a while]]. Nevertheless, Ironhide and Chromia are an effective battle pairing, often teaming up with Arcee and her own partner [[WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime Cliffjumper]].
** His old friend and Spychanger Mirage (who is separate from the illusion artist Autobot of the same name) also joined him in the Pantheon. Usual battle tactic is to have Mirage ride on top of Ironhide and use his [[ColdSniper expert sniping skills]] to take down aerial targets like attacking Seekers.
** Rounding out Ironhide's team is the tempestuous and [[GlorySeeker glory-seeking]] Sideswipe. In contrast to Ironhide's relentless but measured combat style (even if he still itches for fights), Sideswipe has basically zero restraint if it means declaring himself victor over a fallen foe. Ironhide has taken it upon himself to personally mentor his trigger-happy junior, fearing that his vendetta against Decepticons like [[Film/TransformersRevengeOfTheFallen Demolishor]] will come at the expense of innocent civilians. Sideswipe often spurns Ironhide's rebukes, but the [[IntergenerationalFriendship two really care for each other]].
* Ironhide's designation as the Autobot security officer and [[Film/{{Transformers}} weapons specialist]] is a misnomer: he's a lot more than just Prime's personal bodyguard. As a long-time friend, sometimes rival, mentor and battle buddy of the former dock-worker/data clerk, Ironhide is among the rare breed of Autobot who openly questions and chides the seemingly untouchable Autobot leader. Optimus appreciates Ironhide's candour and BrutalHonesty, always takes his advice into account, and will risk life and limb for his old friend. Those who have nothing good to say about Prime try using Ironhide as a [[ShootTheMessenger messenger]]; he growls at them to grow some lead and ask him themselves. He gets antsy whenever it's remarked that he sounds like [[Creator/PeterCullen Optimus if he lived in the deep South]], though Smokescreen reminds him that with some vocal exercises and bodywork, he could reliably pass as a [[DecoyGetaway decoy]] if need be.
** Leader-aspirant and young warrior Bumblebee describes Ironhide as "[[ComicBook/TheTransformersIDW a big, red, ornery miracle]]". Befitting the nickname, Bumblebee and Hot Rod look up to the old bot as [[TheReliableOne a reliable partner]] in tough times, especially when the less experienced bots under them are unprepared and out of options. Regardless of whatever form they are in, Ironhide was once annoyed at their mutual eagerness and naïvety, but has grown to respect them in their own right.
** Conversely, he absolutely ''hates'' working with the Dinobots. Not only is Ironhide put off by their lack of discipline and love for wanton carnage, he's also enraged by Grimlock's (and at one point, [[ComicBook/TheTransformers successful]]) efforts to subvert Optimus's authority in his absence. Ironhide respects Grimlock somewhat for his battle prowess as long as he's kept on a tight leash, but even so can't stand Grimlock's arrogance when placed in a position of authority. He's quick to keep their pack occupied with worthy tasks, but otherwise leaves it to Bulkhead and other deities with DumbMuscle to spare.
** Ironhide may also be one of the few Autobots who has the privilege of surviving into the [[WesternAnimation/BeastWars Beast Era]], transforming into a giant, lumbering elephant with monstrous strength and temper to match. [[AdaptationDeviation Even if records differ on the subject]], Ironhide is just as easily relied upon by Optimus Primal as his original counterpart, and Primal easily considers Ironhide to be more than capable of accomplishing any task set before him, especially alongside his own Maximals.
* As with all other Transformers in the Pantheon, Ironhide can switch between the forms of his various incarnations at will, most often transforming into a red [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Vanette Nissan Sunny-Vanette Coach SGL]] with an attached [[https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Onebox_component weapons platform]][[labelnote:''ARRNHAHHD'']]The fact that it was [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness his original robot mode]] is not lost on Ironhide, and he wishes every day that he can unsee it.[[/labelnote]] he can ride around in. He also has a variety of other forms to choose from, including the aforementioned elephant that can combine with Silverbolt and Prowl to form Magnaboss, a [[Anime/TransformersRobotsInDisguise Ford F150 Flareside pickup truck with a garish cow paintjob and ox decals]], and a [[Anime/TransformersEnergon heavily modified Mitsubishi Montero with rotating gun turret]]. Most favoured among these is his ''Bayformers'' design, a [[Film/TransformersFilmSeries GMC Topkick pickup truck]] replete with two arm-mounted cannons and a classy Mid-Atlantic accent which he uses to great effect thinking up [[BondOneLiner witty one-liners]] after busting Decepticons into scrapheap. He's also partial to his ''Animated'' form which can transmute itself into a near-indestructible alloy, literally forming an "iron hide" that serves well as a defense against punishing assaults and the occasional corrosive Cybertronian rain.
** If pushed too far, Ironhide is forced into the appearance of his [[ComicBook/TransformersShatteredGlass evil Shattered Glass]] self; [[AdaptationalVillainy a coldhearted, unempathetic field leader]] who is deeply loyal to the Shattered Glass counterpart of Optimus Prime, and got killed by the alternate Ultra Magnus for his trouble. Optimus takes care when tangling with this Ironhide, since he almost succumbs to the call of his alternate self whenever he gets too close for too long.
* Ironhide is a veteran, and counts on his decades of experience in the constant crises that engulf the Pantheon. Even at ascension, very little surprised Ironhide. The overall picture of the situation grinds his gears somewhat however: four Alliances representing good, evil, law and chaos warring against one another for dominance. [[https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_Foundation As a Transformer who led smaller Cybertronian tribes against the very Primes seeking to protect them with wishy-washy ideology]] (before he met Optimus), Ironhide scoffs at the idea of fighting for some noble ideal which realistically can never be attained[[labelnote:''ARRNHAHHD'']]In this case, Ironhide opposes the GUAG members who declare that evil can be completely eradicated when they win the Alliance War.[[/labelnote]]. To do so, he maintains, would require the victors to give up whatever makes them humane, creating a forced, unhappy {{Utopia}}. Quite a few {{Old Soldier}}s agree with Ironhide on this front, and he in turn respects them as his own brothers-in-arms.
** The veterans Ironhide feels most comfortable around are Solid Snake, Flash Thompson and Master Chief. All grew into {{Consummate Professional}}s who share camaraderie with the myriad of beings in the Pantheon, and represent Ironhide at some stage in his life. Flash reminds Ironhide of his days as a hot-tempered tribal leader who rebelled against Optimus and the [[FaceHeelTurn once-good]] Sentinel Prime before becoming a full-fledged Autobot, John-117 of when he was in his prime, tenaciously defending the dying Cybertron from the Decepticons with hope that the war would end, and Solid Snake of his more recent years, weary of war yet still fighting to protect the few Cybertronian lives he has beside him. At the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Ironhide was scouted by Master Chief and Flash as a potential addition to the Pantheon/AlphaOmegaForce, but he respectfully declined.
** Can't help but feel that Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann didn't register the "love" in [[ToughLove tough love]] while training Marines. Even though he's hard on his young trainees, Ironhide always stopped short of outright tormenting them into becoming cold-blooded killers and instilled the values of empathy and freedom into them, just as Optimus would have wanted[[labelnote:''ARRNHAHHD'']]Ironhide is less than happy at how Private Pyle turned out the opposite of his ideal soldier due to Hartmann's bullying and the hazing of his fellow batchmates.[[/labelnote]]. In spite of their mutual respect, the gunnery sergeant vehemently disagrees with the "pile of alien metal" five times taller than him. He rebuts that his human Marines don't have the perks that Cybertronians have, so the Marines must harden to survive. They remain at loggerheads on the issue.
%%* Courage the Cowardly Dog is, well, quite fearful but he more-so lives up to his actual name. Even when faced with the supernatural, he still goes on to save his owners from whatever weirdness they got caught up in.
* Despite being a veteran, Ironhide still harbours much distrust towards human militaries and mercenaries, given how a majority in his multiverse either want them off Earth, exterminated, or dismantled [[ForScience for scientific purposes]]. He is quick to point a gun at any human who claims ownership or superiority over his people, but isn't above working with such organizations when necessary, especially if they show him the proper respect first. Such an example occurred when Ironhide was sent on a Vortigaunt hunting mission with the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit, a U.S. Marine Corps special forces unit which quickly dispatched the aliens that were raiding an undersupplied GUAG outpost housing Autobot hatchlings. The soldiers of that particular team did show Ironhide some respect (even if they were excessively grumpy about it), so [[RespectedByTheRespected Ironhide acted the same in turn]].
* As one would expect from one of the oldest and battle-worn Autobots, even Ironhide feels the wear and tear at times. He puts up the front of being enthusiastic and lively in his own acerbic way, but the futility of the Great War on Cybertron coupled with his age has led Ironhide to consider retirement many times. Mind you, even in retirement, [[RetiredBadass Ironhide still manages to pull off tremendous feats against those who think his guard is down]]. Being no stranger to the woes of age and its effects on performance, Ironhide a special sympathy for allies who in their prime were legends but can't come to grips with losing their touch over time.
** Surprisingly cordial with Master Roshi in spite of the latter's lecherous ways. Ironhide has plenty of gripes with that side of Roshi, but is sympathetic to the fact that neither [[CantCatchUp can catch up]] to the powerhouses they fight alongside (Goku and Optimus Prime respectively). To that end, they frequently train and exchange war stories, Roshi placing particular emphasis on his fight against King Piccolo, who Ironhide opposes for [[ToCreateAPlaygroundForEvil cultivating a lawless, hellish Earth when the latter was its ruler]], among his many other atrocities.
** He's taken some tips from Batman's vehicles when it comes to picking (brief) alternate modes in the Pantheon. This ironically got the attention of Bruce's butler and former [[ElitesAreMoreGlamorous SAS operative]] Alfred Pennyworth. His combination of wit and refusal to take nonsense from anyone, even Batman himself, impressed Ironhide enough to offer him a ride to the Hall of Justice (the Justice League headquarters) one fine day. Alfred accepted[[labelnote:''ARRNHAHHD'']]normally he wouldn't have, but he was in a hurry[[/labelnote]]. Since then, most of their conversations hilariously take place in the heat of battle, when Alfred gets in a pinch transporting supplies to "Master Bruce", and has to ride shotgun in Ironhide's front seat.
* If given a choice to take action immediately or do nothing and plan for the future, Ironhide prefers the former. This is why he prefers being low in the pecking order in spite of his leadership skills; his mind is not built for the long-term strategy that Optimus, Ultra Magnus, and Alpha Trion excel in. Nevertheless, he takes kindly to those who take decisive action against immediate threats like Barty Crouch Sr., even if such actions may be controversial and extreme to some. In contrast, he distances himself from those who [[HeadInTheSandManagement deny threats exist]] for the sake of maintaining some status quo, like Cornelius Fudge.
* Above all, Ironhide takes loyalty very, ''very'' seriously. If, like Optimus, he thinks you're worth fighting for, Ironhide will defend you and your cause like the [[MadeOfIron immovable object]] that he is. Mind you, it took years of fighting together for the untouchable Optimus Prime to earn Ironhide's complete support, and he's a ''Prime''. Ironhide even respects all but the most heinous of adversaries when [[UndyingLoyalty they stick to their guns]] and fight for the cause they believe in with all their might[[labelnote:''ARRNHAHHD'']]This has gotten Ironhide into deep trouble more than once, since his openness on the subject marks him as a possible traitor every single week, which annoys him immensely.[[/labelnote]]. In summation, Ironhide despises turncoats, traitors, and those who work only for themselves at the expense of innocents.
** There exists a lot of Decepticons among these scumbags. ''Starscream'' in particular he rues not just for the penchant for betraying anyone and everyone he works for a shot at power[[labelnote:''ARRNHAHHD'']]not when he usurps Megatron though, since Starscream is all around a [[GeneralFailure catastrophe]] compared to him[[/labelnote]]. Megatron isn't much better, given that he straight-up killed Ironhide in a tremendous sneak attack that also killed his comrades Ratchet, Prowl and Brawn.
** Betrayal by [[InTheBack literal backstabbing]] is a particularly sore spot for him, since [[Film/TransformersDarkOfTheMoon in one instance]] he was literally ''corroded'' to death by a handy shot from Optimus's former mentor Sentinel Prime, a sadly anticlimactic end for such a brave and storied warrior. The suddenness of it all still gives Ironhide misgivings about the {{Big Good}}s of the Pantheon, a healthy paranoia that fuels his objectivity and insistence on holding everybody accountable for their decisions, including Optimus. Ironhide has no intention of letting even the purest of deities attain elevated status over their subordinates, a highly praised quality among the equalist members of the Pantheon/{{GUAG}}.
** Combats the alien race of Slugs at every opportunity. With the race's proclivity to betrayal and manipulation, he admits he has some prejudice towards them, what with how many soldiers around him fall to their sadistic attacks. He remembers when they once drained the oxygen in the transport ship he was in, killing all the oxygen-breathing organics inside.
** Something else Ironhide hates is wanton violence. Grimgor Ironhide's endless bloodlust disturbs Ironhide enough for him to seek out the Orc in battle, out of a desire to kill the warrior before he puts an end to another helpless army that falls before Grimgor's wrath. Ironhide is wary of being compared with Grimgor due to a false alarm before his ascension where the Autobots travelled to Black Crag, [[NamesTheSame thinking that he had ascended]] before getting Grimgor and his WAAAAGH-mongas instead.

This ironically got the attention of Bruce's butler and former [[ElitesAreMoreGlamorousSAS operative]] Alfred Pennyworth. His combination of wit and refusal to take nonsense from anyone,

The veterans Ironhide feels most comfortable around are Solid Snake, Flash Thompson and Master Chief.
