The story is a Mass Effect fanfiction set fifty years after the end of Mass Effect 3, with the official retcon being that the [[spoiler:Destroy ending was chosen, but didn't damage the Geth and relays as badly as expected, and they have now been rebuilt.]] Five decades later, many other races have been inducted into the Spectres, and the galaxy seems to be at complete peace... though forces are moving in the shadows, and dark secrets are starting to come to light.

The story (which has come be known for a dark and morbid tone, with occasional comedy and frequent action) proper begins with a Quarian Spectre named Sera'Zarda vas Citadel being called in to investigate an attempted bombing on the Council, and gathering a mismatched team of alien badasses to help. Shenanigans ensue.

* BadassAndChildDuo: Subverted by Omicron Red and Fatima, since their 'duo' is more akin to a hostage situation.

* DeathSeeker: Sera, throughout RIP 3. She got better, partially, after [[spoiler: putting down Altus Sapiens, although she quit the team after feeling that she was responsible for too many deaths.]] Often manifests itself through TakeMeInstead moments.
* DepravedBisexual: Ilani, in some seriously twisted ways.

* EyepatchOfPower: Acquired by [[spoiler: Victairn]] by the start of [=RiP3=], as a result of [[spoiler: a stray shard of bone from Master's exploding skeleton.]]

* GadgeteerGenius: Over the course of the role play, Garjen acquires a JumpJetPack suit, InvisibilityCloak equipment, a BladeBelowTheShoulder omni-tool, TrickBomb neural shock grenades, remote DisarmDisassembleDestroy device, an XRayVision monocle that doubles as half a pair of NightVisionGoggles, and an EnergyBow that can fire AbnormalAmmo bolts of electricity. The crossbow and blade have been treated with a HotPaintJob of blue and orange, while the monocle adds a bit of HighClassGlass. Garjen often proudly claims that all his equipment is completely AceCustom as well.

* OddFriendship: Martha and Shiv. A human and a vorcha is a strange enough pairing at the best of times.

* SkilledButNaive: Martha and Shiv, at times. Also Jinxy.
* StraightGay: Valentin - not that his squadmates noticed without it being pointed out.

* TokenEvilTeammate: Yesana played this role for a while, [[spoiler: before deciding that [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere she'd had enough of the team]].]]

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: All the characters abandoned by their users. Namely, Robin, Gnos, Spade, Alia, Darren, and Jinxy. Baxter is not an example - though his author left, he was killed off, rather than disappearing.
