Adelaide is [[spoiler: the child of Thanatos, the Greek personification of Death.]] Her mother died when she was very young, leaving her in the care of an orphanage and later, a mental institution after [[spoiler: she accidentally burned the orphanage to the ground when she lost control of her powers.]] Believe it or not, she was pretty sweet as a kid until daddy abandoned her and everything went horribly wrong.
