Korra meditates again and witnesses Yakone's trial. Chairman Sokka and the rest of the United Republic Council hear out the accusations towards Yakone, that he's been bloodbending, something that's been illegal for decades. Yakone's lawyer dismisses those claims, saying it's impossible to bloodbend without a full moon. Sokka announces the verdict: Yakone is guilty of all charges. When Sokka was younger, he met people who had extraordinary abilities, so Yakone's isn't impossible. He sentences Yakone to lifetime imprisonment.

* ArbitrarySkepticism: Defied by Sokka and his council, who cite several extraordinary benders over the years as sufficient proof that someone like Yakone could exist.

* GodzillaThreshold: Aang says he normally wouldn’t get involved in the arrest of a criminal in Republic City, but with Yakone being a mutant bloodbender, he doesn’t want to take any chances. Yakone later forces Aang to go into the Avatar State when he nearly kills him with his bloodbending, causing the second known use of energybending in history during the age of the Avatar.

* JurisdictionFriction: Toph and Aang had shades of this when the latter came in to help deal with Yakone, as Toph believes crime bosses within Republic City are a police problem. Since Yakone is a super-dangerous criminal, that's where the Avatar has to step in, which Aang uses as reasoning. Toph reluctantly agrees to let him join in.

** Their anger also makes sense in-story. Amon had made it clear Korra was to be saved for later to prevent her from becoming a martyr. Tarrlok's frame-up risks doing that -- to say nothing of bringing down the full might of law enforcement when they're in the middle of preparations for their impending endgame.

Tarrlok's secretary stayed around long enough to catch what he was doing and warn everyone of his abilities. abilities.
** Tarrlok's Frame-Up was also this for the Equalists. Amon had made it clear Korra was to be saved for later to prevent her from becoming a martyr. Tarrlok's frame-up endangers that objective -- on top of bringing down the full might of law enforcement right when they're in the middle of preparations for their impending endgame. It's no wonder Amon finally decided to remove Tarrlok off the board (though him being disgraced and on the run also plays into that timing).
