Not surprising.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Although hinted at in the previous episode, this one shows how after years of repeated mysterious tragedies the entire town of Hawkins has become collectively traumatized to the point that one grisly murder is enough to drive the whole town right to the edge of breaking.
** Eleven hitting Angela with a roller skate may seem relatively cathartic...until we see Angela's face split open and bleeding, leading to her sobbing and crying. It nevertheless leaves everyone shocked, even Eleven whose face screams MyGodWhatHaveIDone as she has flashbacks to the Hawkins Lab massacre.

* RightForTheWrongReasons: The military deduces Eleven survived, but they do so on the assumption that she is responsible for Vecna's killings, as Vecna's killing method [[EntertaininglyWrong is not at all different from how Eleven killed Brenner's agents at the end of Season one]].
